The larger the file the more memory it uses and the better the image. We recommend 1280x960 as that is the best quality, we also recommend a 32GB SDHC MMC Class 10 card as that will record more video hours before the DVR starts to record over files recorded that day. A different viewpoint from the above is to use a smaller / cheaper SD MMC card which is constantly writing over previous files and stop the DVR once an incident has taken place the choice is yours. Sometimes drivers don t know that they have been involved in an incident! 6.1.2 EV / Exposure press REC 12 Options - +2.0 to -2.0 We recommend that you initially use the default +0.0 This setting is associated with the light conditions that you are driving in, i.e. the darker the conditions the higher the + setting, or if your conditions are very bright sunshine then you should be using settings. 6.1.3 White Balance press REC 12 Options - Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten Street lighting, Fluorescent Street lighting We recommend that you initially use the default Auto. 9. USB Mode Connect the DVR to the computer by USB cable, then access My Computer / Removable Disk. The recorded file can be found on the Removable Disk / 100DSCIM. When that is displayed the file from the DVR can be downloaded to your chosen location on your computer. For safe keeping of an important incident you may wish to keep one copy on your hard drive and another on an un-rewritable DVD to ensure that it cannot be written over by mistake at a later time. Note 9.1 Please correctly insert the SD / MMC card before recording 9.2 This DVR records in cycle if you chose 2 / 5 / 15 minute periods as the storage time. When the storage medium SD / MMC is full, it will record from the beginning again and write over the previously recorded material automatically. It will have 3 seconds pause time between each x minute period, and the contents / actions in the 3 seconds will not be recorded. We therefore recommend a 32GB card to reduce the chance of accidental overwriting of important images. We also recommend 15 minute periods to reduce the number of 3 second pause periods. 9.3 Because the DVR is DC5V 1A input, please use the supplied vehicle charger. The transformer charger converts from 12 / 24V to 5V 1A automatically. 10. If the DVR hangs / stalls itself during use it can be restarted by switching the DVR OFF, then remove the battery for 10 minutes, then replace the battery and turn ON. 11.2 Fleet DVR expert If you have purchased these for a fleet then may we suggest that one employee is nominated as the Fleet DVR Expert and sets up all the DashCam DVR s, it will result in less frustration and more accuracy as not everyone is happy setting up cameras, electronic gadgets, etc. After set up check its working ok in the office before installing in the vehicle. 11.3 SD MMC Memory Card We recommend using a good quality class 6 or better SDHC - Card (Class 10 is best and recommended for all DVR s). A 32Gb Memory Card will record a whole working day before it starts recording over the beginning of the memory cards memory. Smaller capacity Memory Cards are cheaper but they last for less time, i.e. 4Gb last for approx. 1 Hour; 8Gb lasts for approx. 2 hours; and so on. Some cards are already supplied formatted using the File System FAT32, cluster size 64kb so these do not need formatting again, if not then - Format the SDHC - card SDHC - card parameters should be as follows File System FAT32, cluster size 64 KB Format the card in the DVR camera We recommend the following specialist Memory Card supplier. They sell a full range of different brand names, own brand names, capacity, Class, and size. They do not sell fakes, unlike many other suppliers who do sell fake brands, or smaller actual capacity than the capacity printed on the label! They also offer quick service and some great special offers. http://www.mymemory.co.uk/sdhc 11.4 Mains Power Adapter Charger Plug to USB Output 5V 1amp You may wish to buy one of the above to enable charging from the mains, 1 to 4 USB output versions are available.
