Address Book Import Guide Exporting and Preparing Contacts from Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, and AOL. Recommendation solution for exporting contacts from an Apple Mac computer. Outlook 1. Go to File Import and Export. 2. Select Export to File.
3. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows). 4. Select the Contacts folder under your Mailbox to export.
5. Name your export file. You may also need to Browse to specify a file location before proceeding to the next step. 6. Select Map Custom Fields.
7. Click the button to Clear Map. 8. Drag from left to right the fields First Name, Last Name, and Email Address. Then click OK and Finish.
Windows Live Hotmail 1. From your web browser, go to Options in the top-right of the page, then More Options. 2. Scroll to the bottom and click Export contacts under Customize your Contacts Log. 3. Verify your account by keying in the characters pictured on the screen and click Export.
4. In the resulting file remove ALL COLUMNS except First Name, Last Name, and Email Address. Save this file as a CSV and proceed to your dashboard to complete the import.
Outlook Express 1. Open Outlook Express and Go to File Export Address Book 2. Select Text File (Comma Separate Values) and click Export.
3. Give your exported file a name and click Browse to pick a location on your computer where you would like the file saved. Click Next. 4. Check the boxes next to only First Name, Last Name, and E-mail Address. Click Finish.
5. Your export is now complete. Click Ok and Close to close the Outlook Express windows. 6. Locate and open the exported file. Remove any rows that do not contain both a First Name and a Last Name. Records without this information will fail the import process. Alternatively, you can key this data into any rows that lack it. 7. Save & Close the file. Your data is now ready to be imported. Save it as CSV and go back to your participant dashboard to complete the process.
Yahoo 1. Sign in to Yahoo mail. 2. On the top right of the screen, click on Options and select Mail Options. 3. In the left menu, click Contact Options. 4. A new window will open. 5. Click on Import/Export
6. Scroll down and click Export Now next to Yahoo! CSV 7. New window opens up, click Save Your participant dashboard will only accept a properly formatted import file. Please complete these additional steps to prepare your data.
8. Open the yahoo_ab.csv file. Rename cell A1 First Name, cell C1 Last Name and cell E1 Email Address. 9. Click the top left box to select all cells in the worksheet. 10. Go to Data Filter AutoFilter 11. In the dropdown next to cells A1, C1, and E1, scroll to the bottom of the list and select (NonBlanks).
12. Select all of the rows in the filtered view and press Ctrl+C to copy. 13. Press Ctrl+N to open a new worksheet and press Ctrl+V to paste the copied cells. 13. This is the file that you will want to actually import. Go to File Save As, name the file and set the save as type to Comma Separated Values. Return to your participant dashboard to complete the process.
Gmail 1. Log into Gmail account, and then at the left side of Gmail click the link for Contacts 2. In the top right corner of the Contacts page, click the link that says Export. 3. Choose whether to export all contacts or only one group. 4. Select the format Outlook CSV and click Export Your participant dashboard will only accept a properly formatted import file. Please complete the following additional steps to prepare your data.
5. Gmail does not separate the contact name into two columns. You must open and edit the contacts.csv file to do this before importing the data. 6. Insert a new column between A and column B. 7. Highlight column A and go to Data Text to Columns. 8. Leave Step 1 set to Delimited and click Next.
9. In Step 2, select Space as the Delimiter. 10. Click Next in Step 3. 11. Rename cell A1 First Name. Type Last Name in cell B1 and rename C1 Email Address. 12. Your data is now ready to be imported. Save it as CSV and go back to your participant dashboard to complete the process.
AOL 1. Sign on to AOL WebMail by going to http://webmail.aol.com. 2. Click Contacts under Today on AOL. 3. Click Export. 4. Select the format you want to save your contacts in, and then click Export. 5. Click Save. 6. Click Save on the Save As Window. 7. Click Close. A file [contacts.x] (where x is the file extension of the format that you chose to save your contacts in. For example: csv) is created and saved on your computer.
