SP # 4.1.2 Service Pack Release Notes Original publication date: 01-December-2008. This is Issue #1, published date: 01-December-2008. Target Products Converged Network Analyzer, version 4.0 and above 2008 Avaya Inc. All Rights Reserved. Summary This document contains product information for the Avaya Converged Network Analyzer Service Pack 4.1.2 that is not included in existing product documentation. To download the latest release notes, and other documentation, see http://support.avaya.com. Avaya strongly recommends that you run the latest version of software. Please contact your Avaya sales representative for details on how to obtain the CNA 4.1 software release. Customers with current maintenance contracts can download the Service Pack release from the Avaya Download Center at http://support.avaya.com. For information on how to install the software, see the Converged Network Analyzer Installation Guide. These release notes cover the following topics: New Features in this Service Pack Fixes in this Service Pack Known Issues in this Service Pack Installation Instructions Additional Information. New Features in this Service Pack The following items are new features that have been introduced in this Service Pack cumulative release. For a list of features added in CNA 4.1 software, please refer to the Release Notes for Converged Network Analyzer, Version 4.1. System Backup and Restore Enables an administrator to create system backup archives (including configuration, logs, reports, trends, and data) and restore those archives back to the system. For more information, see the Converged Network Analyzer Command Reference Guide Addendum, Version 4.1.2. Note: Avaya recommends creating routine system backups. Hardware - HP ProLiant DL360 G5 Added the HP ProLiant DL360 G5 to the Certified Platforms list. See Additional Information section. There are no new features that have been introduced in this Service Pack release. Fixes in this Service Pack The following issues have been resolved in this Service Pack cumulative release. For a list of fixes added in CNA 4.1 software, please refer to the Release Notes for Converged Network Analyzer, Version 4.1. Reference # Severity Issue Resolution 12617 Low CNA supports a limited number of SNMP agents. Increased the number of supported polling snmp-agents to 160. This is the maximum number of agents that should be configured on the system irrespective of whether or not they are used for polling. 16224 Low CPU utilization is erroneously reported at 100%. Changed internal storage of the utilization value so that the CPU utilization is reported correctly.

16618 Medium Executing dump-measurement sessions via the CLI or viewing the Subnet Information panel in the Viewer can hang event-manager resulting in gaps in trended data as well as empty reports. 16712 Low Under certain conditions the Rating per Subnet list in the Viewer could display an erroneous rating value that did not correspond with the CLI reported rating score. 16714 Low The Viewer Subnets in Trouble chart and corresponding Top Subnets in Trouble list do not display ongoing not-rescued outages in a consistent manner. 16723 Low Attempting to save the Chatter Viewer topology results in an error on PC clients using a comma to indicate the radix point. 16741 Low SECURITY: the existing certificate used to digitally sign the Viewer JAR files expires on January 14, 2009. 16749 Low SECURITY: the embedded web server does not sanitize the Expect header from an HTTP request when it is reflected back in an error message, which might allow cross-site scripting (XSS) style attacks using web client components that can send arbitrary headers in requests (CVE-2006-3918). 16758 Low The Viewer cannot be accessed using nondefault ports (HTTP 80, HTTPS 443). 16812 Low The clear subnet command does not reset associated reliability scores. Medic now detects when event-manager becomes hung and restarts the processes automatically. This will minimize the duration of charted gaps and reduce the possibility of empty reports. Corrected the logic that determines the link to be used when calculating the rating in the Rating per Subnet list. Modified the algorithm used to determine not-rescued outages to make it consistent between both the Subnets in Trouble chart and the Top Subnets in Trouble list. Modified the Viewer so that PC clients in locales using a decimal comma can save topology information successfully. Renewed the signing certificate. New expiration will occur on January 14, 2011. No user action is necessary. Applied patch to embedded web server to close this vulnerability. Removed the ability to specify non-default ports in both the ip http server and ip http server ssl commands. Any existing systems upgraded to this release using a non-default port will be reverted to defaults. Modified command to also reset the subnet(s) reliability score to zero (0) when executed. Reference # Severity Issue Resolution 16555 Low Syslog messages generated by CNA do not adhere to RFC 3164 requirements Syslog messages are now RFC compliant. The messages originated by CNA now include the IP address or configured hostname in the syslog header. 16608, 16630 High Users are not able to access servers in a hive via management interfaces. A chatter memory leak was fixed. Users are now able to access hived servers via CLI and Viewer. 16631 Medium Certain circumstances result in selection of a blackout link as a winning link. 16640 Medium show chatter cna-agent-device information commands indicate there is no management connectivity between CNA and a remote Axis SBC CNA agent device. The module engine outage-detection silence configuration parameter default has been changed to disable. This prevents blackout links from being selected as a winning link when using active measurement probes. Management connectivity has been restored. The subsystem responsible for secure management transport was upgraded. 16654 Medium Viewer charts contain gaps in trended data. Scheduling of the database maintenance task has been improved in order to mitigate its effects on trended data which has reduced the frequency of trend gaps. 2008 Avaya Inc. All Rights Reserved. Page 2

16673 Low The erase chatter-config command does not fully restore the chatter subsystem to factory defaults. 16674 Low Application Delay is erroneously displayed as 80ms for subnets that have not been measured over a particular link. 16681 Medium The web browser becomes unresponsive and must be forcefully shutdown when Create Report Group or CIDR Lookup is selected from the right-click context menu. Execution of the command now results in: the server being removed from the hive to which it is a member, the module chatter config block is set to factory defaults, and the local server s Ethernet 0 IP address is used as the parameter to the supernode command. New installations using 4.1.1.0 will also have the supernode command automatically set to the server s Ethernet 0 IP address by default. The Application Delay metric now reflects a delay of 0ms for subnets that have not yet been measured. Both the Create Report Group and CIDR Lookup context menu items have been disabled and will appear greyed-out. Known Issues in this Service Pack The following items are known issues that exist in this Service Pack cumulative release. For a list of known issues in CNA 4.1 software, please refer to the Release Notes for Converged Network Analyzer, Version 4.1. Reference # Severity Issue Workaround 16739 Low The error, Error: Address x.x.x.x is reachable, may be seen when attempting to assign an IP address to a tunnel interface. Modifications to the tunnel interface should be made prior to binding any ustats using that interface to a physical Ethernet interface. If the error is encountered, unbind the ustat from the physical Ethernet interface using the no module ustat form of the command. 16830 Low A Viewer error is displayed if the system is in Reload Pending state from a restore system operation. 16838 Low Even though failures are encountered during a restore system CNA still prompts the user to continue with the operation. 16845 Medium Emailing trends from the Viewer occasionally fails. There are no additional known issues that have been introduced in this Service Pack release. Reboot the server after a restore system operation is complete. Note: the Viewer will indicate the system needs to be rebooted in the upper right-hand corner with the text System reload required. If an error is displayed during the restore system session, answer "no" when asked whether to proceed with the restore. Do not use JRE 1.6.0_10 or milestone (beta, RC) releases of the Java runtime (JRE) on the client PC. Also, ensure the amount of heap memory allocated for applets has been increased per PSN #2024U. Lastly, if errors are still experienced when emailing trends, close all browser windows and re-launch the Viewer. Installation Instructions! Important: when upgrading an existing CNA server to this Service Pack, the server must be running CNA 4.0 or greater. If it is not, the server must be upgraded to CNA 4.0.0 first and then can be upgraded to the Service Pack. For instructions on upgrading to CNA 4.0.0, please refer to the Release Notes for Converged Network Analyzer, Version 4.1. To upgrade a server running CNA 4.0 or greater to the Service Pack release: 1. Download the CNA 4.1.2.0 Service Pack release (upgrade image) from the Avaya Download Center at http://support.avaya.com to a local FTP or Web server. 2. Login to the CNA command line interface via SSH or Telnet and enter enable mode. 2008 Avaya Inc. All Rights Reserved. Page 3
