A flexible WDM transport solution The WRM-8008 is a next-generation OTN muxponder that can transparently aggregate up to eight client signals in an OTU2 signal. Using the latest OTN multiplexing capabilities, the WRM-8008 enables a flexible and efficient aggregation of multiple services over one wavelength. It simplifies the network deployment of new services by minimizing the need for provisioning and also by providing an embedded management channel using the OTN layer to manage remote nodes. Its flexible pluggable interfaces support a variety of transceivers on both client and line interfaces (850 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and WDM). Due to its high flexibility and density, the WRM-8008 is the optimal OTN aggregation and transport solution for access and metro networks. Simple and easy to manage The WRM-8008 can be managed using TL-1 or SNMP or by using the WaveReady Node and Multinode Manager graphical user interface. The muxponder also supports manual provisioning, diagnostic loopback for testing, optical power monitoring, and other features. These functions facilitate fault location and correction and simplify operations required to manage services and service-level agreements. WaveReady WRM muxponders provide a transparent and efficient Layer 1 aggregation solution with the key protocol mapping and multiplexing capabilities required by both access and core networks. They also provide many other benefits. First, they optimize for transport of multiple services over one wavelength by leveraging the latest OTN mapping and multiplexing standards. Second, they simplify the operation and provisioning of multi-service transport solutions when compared to traditional MSPP based on a SONET/SDH VCAT architecture.
