The present document is part 1 of a multi-part EN covering the Signalling ATM Adaptation Layer (SAAL); Layer Management for the SAAL at the Network Node Interface (NNI), as identified below: Part 1: Part 2: "Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) and Service Specific Co-ordination Function (SSCF)"; "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma". Other parts are for further study. The present document was originally published as ETS 300 647 and the present text carries no technical changes to that original version. 4 Scope The present document specifies the Layer Management functions for the Signalling ATM Adaptation Layer (SAAL) at the Network Node Interface (NNI) for the pan-european Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN) as provided by European public telecommunications operators. These Layer Management functions include the interfaces to the Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) (see ETS 300 436-1 [8]), to the Service Specific Co-ordination Function (SSCF) at the NNI (see ETS 300 438-1 [9]), and to systems management.
