Description The TruVision Device Manager is standalone software that can discover TruVision IP devices such as IP cameras, encoders, decoders, DVRs, and NVRs on a network. This manual explains how to use the TruVision Device Manager to find and configure network related settings of TruVision devices, and to upgrade the firmware of individual devices or perform a bulk upgrade. Note: Remove all previous versions of Device Manager from the computer before installing an updated version of the Device Manager software. Device finder The Device Finder searches for online devices within the local network and displays network information for the devices. Search for active devices online After launching Device Manager, the Device Finder window appears. It automatically searches every 15 seconds for the online devices in the computer s local network and then displays the information for the found devices. The device information displayed includes the device type, IP address, port number, gateway, software version, serial number, MAC address, etc. Note: Click Refresh to refresh the online device list manually. The newly found devices are added to the list. Click on a column heading button to sort the information. 2 TruVision Device Manager User Manual
Activate an inactive device Newer TruVision devices appear as Inactive in the Device Finder window upon initial connection to the network. To activate an inactive device: 1. Select the inactive device(s) in the Device Finder window, and then click Modify Network Parameters. 2. In the Activate panel, type a new password and then confirm it in the New Password and Confirm Password fields. Click OK. 3. An Activate device(s) succeed! message appears. Configure a device over the network Double-click an IP address in the Device Finder window to open the device s web browser and configure its setting over the network. Export the device list A list of all the list devices can be exported. To export the device list: 1. In the Device Finder window, click the Export button. 2. In the dialog box, select a File Formats radio button, type a name into the File Name field, and click... to select the file path. 3. Click OK to save the changes. Modify network parameters To check the basic information of a device, select the device in the Device Finder window, and then click the Modify Network Parameters button to open the Modify Network Parameters window. The information displays in the Device information panel. It shows the serial number, firmware version, and MAC address. This information cannot be changed. Change network settings To configure the basic network parameters: 1. In the Device Finder window, select the device to be modified from the list. 2. Click the Modify Network Parameters button. In the Modify Network Parameters panel, change the following network parameters as required: IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and port number. 3. In the Password field, enter the password of the device s admin account, and click Save to save the changes. 4 TruVision Device Manager User Manual
Configure multiple devices If multiple devices require configuration, the bulk setting feature can be used to set the IP addresses. To configure multiple devices: 1. In the Device Finder window, click and drag the mouse, hold the Ctrl button, or select the check boxes next to each device to select all the devices to be configured. 2. Click the Modify Network Parameters button. In the Bulk settings panel, type the Start IPv4 or Start IPv6 address of the first device. The IP addresses of the other selected devices are automatically populated with sequential IP addresses. 3. Type the password (must be the same for all devices) in the Password field, and then click Save to save the changes. Firmware upgrade Use the Firmware Upgrade window to upgrade the firmware of the selected device or devices. To select devices for firmware upgrade: 1. Select the device(s) for firmware upgrade in the main Device Finder window. 2. Click the Firmware Upgrade button. Note: If no devices are selected in the Device Finder, the list of devices for firmware upgrade is blank and an error screen appears. 3. In the Device List, click a device to select it or hold the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple devices. 4. Click Login. The Login dialog box appears. TruVision Device Manager User Manual 5
5. Type the User Name and Password, and then click OK to save the settings. The device(s) appears as Logged In in the Firmware Upgrade window. To add bookmarks: 1. After selecting and logging in to devices listed in the Firmware Upgrade window, click Add to add a bookmark. 2. In the dialog box, type the bookmark name and click to select the file path. Click OK to save the settings. 3. Hover over a bookmark and then click to modify the bookmark or to delete the bookmark. 6 TruVision Device Manager User Manual
4. Select a device or hold the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple devices, select a bookmark, and then click Upgrade to upgrade the device(s). To upgrade the firmware: 1. In the Firmware Upgrade window, select a device or hold the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple devices (all selected devices must be logged in). 2. Click to choose the upgrade file or click on a pre-defined bookmark. The selected devices are set to reboot by default. When Reboot is selected, the Restore All Parameters check box appears. Select this option to restore all parameters to factory default settings if necessary. 3. Click the Upgrade button. 4. When upgrading is complete, the updated version information of the device(s) appear in the device list. TruVision Device Manager User Manual 7
Password reset If an admin (not a specific user) device password is lost, contact Technical Support to restore the password. There are two ways to restore the password. The method to be used depends on the device and its currently installed firmware. To restore the default password (method 1): 1. Select the device for password reset in the main Device Finder window. 2. Click the Password Reset button. 3. Copy the serial number from the Device Serial No. field in the Device information panel and paste it into an email to send to Technical Support. Technical Support will provide a security key by email. 8 TruVision Device Manager User Manual
4. Enter the security key received from Technical Support in the Security Code field and click OK to restore the default password. The default password is 1234. Note: The security key provided is related to the date the serial number was sent to Technical Support and expires after the day specified. If the current date was not specified in the request, Technical Support provides a security key valid for three days following the date of the request. To set a new password using an XML file (method 2): 1. Select the device for password reset in the main Device Finder window. 2. Click the Password Reset button. 3. Click the Reset Password button. 4. Click Export in the Reset Password dialog box (Step 1) to save the XML file, and then email the file to Technical Support. Technical Support will provide a new XML file. 5. Save the XML file received from Technical Support on the computer, click Browse (Step 2), and select the new XML password file. 6. Type a new password and then confirm it in the New Password and Confirm Password fields. Click OK. Note: Do not restart the device after the password recovery XML file has been exported, otherwise the steps above must be repeated. The password recovery XML file expires after 24 hours. Access the user manual online Click the icon at the top of the Device Manager window to open the Device Manager user manual. Pressing F1 also opens the manual.
