WARNING: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST THE LIVE OR NEUTRAL WIRES BE CONNECTED TO THE EARTH TERMINAL IN 3-PIN MAINS PLUG. This symbol means that this unit is double insulated. An earth connected is not required. CAUTION: WHEN OPERATING THIS UNIT ON 230V MAINS SUPPLY. PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN THE POWER SWITCH IS IN THE OFF MODE. THIS DOES NOT DISCONNECT THE UNIT FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY. HOWEVER, PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT IT IS PERFECTLY SAFE TO LEAVE THE UNIT CONNECTED TO THE MAINS SUPPLY. CAUTION CLEANING: Always disconnect the unit from mains supply before attempting to clean it. Use soft cloth moistened with soap water, wipe gently. Do not use solvents or abrasive materials. Save the carton and packing materials: they will be useful if you ever have to transport the unit. Electrical Information This appliance is fitted with a BS 1363/A 13 amp plug. If it is not suitable for your supply sockets, it must be removed and replaced with an appropriate plug. If the plug becomes damaged and/or needs to be replaced, please follow the wiring instructions below. The plug removed must be disposed of immediately. It must not be plugged into a supply socket as this will be an electrical hazard. If the fuse needs to be replaced, it must be of the same rating and ASTA approved to BS 1362. If the plug is changed, a fuse of the appropriate rating must be fitted in the plug, adapter or at the distribution board. If the fuse in a moulded plug is replaced, the fuse cover must be refitted before the appliance can be used. Wiring Instructions The supply cable will be either 2-core or 3-core. Follow the appropriate wiring instructions given below. In both cases ensure that the outer sheath of the cable is firmly held by the cable clamp. 2 - CORE WARNING! Do not connect either wire to the earth terminal. This symbol indicates that this 2-core appliance is Class II and does not require an earth connection. The wire coloured blue must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured black. 3 - CORE WARNING! This appliance must be earthed. The wire coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter E, or by the earth symbol,, or coloured green or green and yellow. The wire coloured blue must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire coloured brown must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured red.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE UNIT (REMOVE MAINS PLUG FROM MAINS OUTLET SOCKET) To clean the unit, simply wipe off with a soft clean cloth moistened with plan lukewarm warer. COMPACT DISC Handling the disc Although the music tracks in the disc are covered with a protective layer, it is still advisable to treat the disc carefully. Ensure that you always pick up discs by the edge, and input them back in their holders immediately after using. Cleaning the disc Cleaning will not normally be necessary. However, should fingerprints, dust or dirt appear, you can wipe them off with a soft, lint-tree cloth wipe the disc in straight line from centre to edge. COMPACT DISC PLAYER The player mechanism is fitted with self-lubricating bearing, and must not be oiled or greased. INTRODUCTION Please read these instructions carefully before using this product and retain them in a safe place for future reference.

POWER SUPPLY This Product can be powered by either 230V AC Mains supply or by 8 x UM-1 D size Alkaline batteries. AC OPERATION Remove the AC cord which is packed inside the box. Connect the cord to the AC input socket. Connect the 3 pins mains plug to an AC mains socket. BATTERY OPERATION 1. Insert 8 x UM-1 D size batteries (not supplied) into the battery compartment observing the correct polarity as indicated. 2. Ensure compartment cover is securely fitted. 3. Product will only function from batteries once AC cord is removed from the unit. 4. When replacing flat batteries, ensure all batteries are replaced at the same time with the same type. 5. If the product is not to be used for an extended period of time the batteries should be removed to prevent any possible damage to the product. LASER SAFETY This unit employs a laser, only qualified service personnel should attempt repair. DANGER: INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION WHEN OPEN AND INTERLOCK FAILED OR DEFEATED. AVOID DIRECT EXPOSURE TO BEAM. CAUTION: HAZARDOUS LASER RADIATION WHEN OPEN AND INTERLOCK DEFEATED.

AC SOCKET LOCATION OF CONTROLS REMOTE CONTROL Open the Battery Compartment Door and insert two pieces "AA" size batteries (not included) into the battery compartment with battery polarity as shown inside the battery compartment. Point the remote control at the remote sensor. The functions of the buttons on the remote control are same as the corresponding controls on the main unit. 1. Play/Pause Button 2. Stop Button 3. SET THE CORRECT TIME Before starting to set the time, make sure that the unit is in its off/standby mode. 1. Press PROGRAM/CLOCK Button once to enter the setting model. The 12/24Hr Segment will start flashing. Use the Back or Next Buttons to select the desired hour format and then press the PROGRAM/CLOCK ADJ Button to confirm. 2. Press Next and Back button to select 12/24Hr format, and then press Program button again to confirm the entry; 3. Follow the same procedures to set hour, minutes; 4. Press Program button to save the changes and exit the setting mode. AUX IN CONNECTION 1. Insert the audio cable (requires 3.5mm stereo audio cable, not supplied) into the Line Out Socket or Phones Socket on your external player into the corresponding AUX Input Socket on your main unit; 2. Press Power Button to turn the unit on and slide the Function Selector to AUX position; 3. Make sure your AUX in component is turned on, and follow your component s instruction; 4. To stop this function, simply slide the Function Switch to Tape position. DYNAMIC BASS BOOST Use the Bass Boost function to increase the bass output. During bass boost on setting, you may hear some distortion, adjust the volume control to a lower level when using the bass boost feature. USING THE RADIO 1. Connect the unit to the power source, and press Power On/Off Button to turn the unit on. 2. Slide the Function selector to Radio position. 3. Select required wave band with Band selector. 4. Tune to required station by rotating the Tuning control. 5. The built-in MW antenna and the FM telescope antenna are directional. When receiving FM broadcast, extend the FM telescope antenna in full length. The strongest reception can be achieved by rotating the set for MW or telescopic antenna for FM. 6. Adjust the Volume control to the desired volume level. 7. To turn off the radio, slide the Function selector to Tape position or turn off the unit. USING THE CASSETTE RECORDER TAPE PLAYBACK 1. Press the Eject Button to open the cassette door, insert a cassette tape into the Cassette Compartment with exposed tape facing upwards and full spool to the right, and push the cassette door to close. 2. Slide the Function Switch to TAPE position. 3. Press the Play Button to begin playback of the cassette tape. 4. Rotate the Volume Control Knob to a comfortable listening level. 5. Press the Stop/Eject Button to stop playback of the cassette tape. 6. Press again to open the cassette tape holder and eject the cassette tape.

USING THE CASSETTE RECORDER FAST FORWARD AND REWIND The tape can be fast forward or rewind by pressing the Next (Fast Forward) Button or Back (Backward) Button respectively. PAUSE During playback or recording, the tape can be stopped temporarily by pressing the Pause Button. To continue playback or recording, press the Pause Button once again. AUTO STOP SYSTEM When the tape play runs to its end during playback or recording, the cassette operation will be stopped automatically. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the cassette mechanism or to the cassette tape, always press the Stop Button between each operation. When the tape is being fast wound make sure that the stop button is pressed when the tape reaches its end. RECORDING FROM THE RADIO 1. Slide the Function Switch to the Radio position and select the desired radio broadcasting station to be recorded. (Reference the Radio Operation section). 2. Press the Stop/Eject Button firmly to open the cassette door. Insert a blank cassette tape into the cassette compartment with exposed tape facing upwards. Be sure the tape is fully rewound so that there will be room to record. 3. Press the Record Button. Both the Play and Record Button move to the lowered position. 4. To stop recording, press the Stop/Eject Button Tape recording will also stop once the end of the tape is reached. RECORDING FROM CD PLAYER 1. Slide the Function Switch to "CD" position; 2. Put a CD into the CD compartment with the label on top; 3. Insert a blank cassette into the Cassette compartment. 4. Press the CD Play Button. 5. Press the Cassette Record button to begin recording. 6. To Stop recording: a. Press the Stop/Eject Button to stop the cassette player. b. Press the CD Stop Button to stop CD player.

USING THE CD PLAYER NORMAL PLAY NOTE: Should skipping of tracks occur during CD playing, try turning the volume down or switch off the dynamic bass boost. When CD is playing, do not open the CD Door. 1. Open the CD Door by pressing the CD Open Door Button. Put a CD into the CD Compartment label side facing up and close the CD Door. Slide the Function Switch to "CD" position. 2. When the CD Door is closed with a CD inside, the total number of tracks will be shown on the CD LCD Display. 3. Press the CD Play/Pause Button. When pressed once, the disc will play from the first track. Pressing it again will pause playback; the CD Play/Pause Indicator will flash. To resume the playback normal, press it again. 4. To skip tracks, press the CD Next (forward) or CD Back (backward) Buttons. Pressing CD Next will skip to next track. Pressing the CD Back Button will skip to the beginning of the current track. Press it two or more times to hear previous tracks on the disc. To scan the disc at high speed, press and hold the CD Next or CD Back Button. When the button is released, normal play will resume. REPEAT PLAY Repeat 1: When the CD Mode Button is pressed once, the Repeat Indicator will light and flash continuously. This single track will be repeated; Repeat ALL: When the CD Mode Button is pressed twice, the Repeat Indicator will stay illuminated. The whole disc will be played continuously; To cancel the Repeat function: Press the CD Mode Button until the lighted Repeat Indicator turns off. PROGRAMMED PLAY 1. During the CD Stop mode, press the Program Button. MEMORY and 00 will flash on the display. 2. Select the desired track by pressing the CD Next (forward) or CD Back (backward) Button until the number of the correct track appears in the display. Press the CD PROG Button to store the track in memory. 3. Repeat Step 2 until all the desired tracks are programmed into memory. Up to 20 tracks can be programmed. 4. Press the CD Play/Pause Button to start the programmed play from the first track. All tracks will play in the order you programmed. 5. Press the CD Stop Button during the programmed play to clear the program. Or press the CD Door Open Button to open the CD compartment. The disc will stop rotating and the program will be erased. RANDOM PLAY Press the Play Mode Button three times in stop mode or during play, "RANDOM" appears in the display, then press Play/Pause Button. All tracks on the disc will be played in random order selected by CD player.
