Introduction Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the Belkin USB Clip-On Hub. This innovative Hub offers a compact design and clip-on mechanism for quick attachment to the edge of a desk, coffee table, or nightstand. The rounded clip also makes it easy to clasp the Hub onto a bundle of device cords for an extraordinary cable-management solution. Belkin s unique design includes two easy-access top-loading and two rear USB ports. These downstream ports provide backward-compatible connections for all USB devices (either USB 1.1 or 2.0). Use them for scanners, printers, mass-storage drives, and highresolution cameras. Self-powering lets you cascade devices with additional hubs, and link up to 127 USB devices through a single port. For power-hungry USB devices, use the included power supply. Please take a moment to review this manual completely to ensure that you get the most from your new USB Clip-On Hub. Features Two top and two rear-loading USB ports Flexible clipping mechanism to hold cables and table edges Compliant with Universal Serial Bus specification 2.0 (data rate 1.5/12/480Mbps) Backward-compatible with Universal Serial Bus specification 1.1 (data rate1.5/ 12Mbps) Compatible with Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, and Vista Approved by USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) Support for Plug-and-Play specifications Support for hot swapping of USB devices Individual port-status-indicator LEDs Four 480Mbps downstream ports Fully compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices Introduction 01

Installation Important Note: Please do not connect any USB devices to the Hub until instructed to do so in step 5 of this installation procedure. 1. Position your Hub in a desired location at the edge of your desk or table, or around a cable bundle. WARNING: The Hub s clip has a one-inch tolerance. Opening the clip mechanism beyond this may damage the unit. Please use caution not to strain or exceed the clip limits. 2. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet or surge protector. Plug the DC connector into the DC power jack found on the rear of the Hub. Note: The Hub may be used without the power supply when connecting low-power devices such as keyboards and mice. 3. Plug the flat end of the provided USB device cable into the downstream port of your computer, or downstream port of another hub, then plug the mini-usb connector on the device cable into the upstream port on the rear of the Hub. Important Note: The Hub must be connected to a USB 2.0-compliant host in order to function in high-speed mode (480Mbps data rate). If the Hub is connected to a USB 1.1-compliant host, it will operate only in low-speed or full-speed mode (1.5Mbps/12Mbps). Installation 03

Installation 4. If your computer is on, Windows will now detect your Hub and install the required driver support. (The Windows Install New Hardware Wizard may prompt you to provide your Windows Installation CD to complete the driver installation process.) 5. Plug the USB A connector of your USB device, or an additional hub, into any of the downstream ports of the Hub. Important Note: When moving a device from one port on the Hub to another, it may be necessary to reinstall the USB drivers for that device. Installation 04
