MosChip PCI I/O Cards Quick Installation Guide 1. Introduction The MosChip PCI I/O Card series is a total solution for serial and parallel device connections. 1-2 System Requirements Pentium or equivalent computer with an available PCI slot MS-DOS, Windows 95/98/98 SE/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003 2. Installation General instructions for installing the card are provided below, since the design of computer cases and motherboards vary. Refer to your computer reference manual for further information, if needed. Caution: Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage your system. To avoid possible static electricity discharge during the installation, please follow the guidelines below: Note: Discharge any static electricity build up in your body by touching a large grounded metal surface or the computer case (if plugged in), for a few seconds. During the installation, avoid any contact with internal parts. Handle cards only by their external edges. 1. For PCI 2S1P, when connecting the DB9 serial port cable to Serial Port 2 (S2), please position the ribbon cable so the colored stripe is on the side farthest away from the slot bracket. 2. For PCI 2P, when connecting the DB25 parallel port cable to Parallel Port 2 (P2), please position the ribbon cable so the colored stripe is on the side closest to the slot bracket. 2

3. Hardware Installation 1. Turn OFF the power to your computer and any other connected peripheral devices. 2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the computer. 3. Remove the computer cover, select an available 32-bit PCI slot and remove the slot bracket. Save the screw for securing the board after it installed. 4. To install the board, align the board bus connector to the expansion slot on the motherboard. Push the board down gently until it is well seated. 5. Replace the slot bracket holding screw to secure the board to the rear slot panel. 6. Replace the computer cover and reconnect the power cord. 4. Software Installation 4.1 MS-DOS Driver Installation 2. Insert driver CD. From the C:\>prompt, type copy D:DOS\*.* and press <Enter>. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 3. Type edit autoexec.bat, and press <Enter>. 4. Add C:\ nmdosin.exe a at the bottom of the autoexec.bat file. 5. Go to File, save the changes and exit. 6. Restart your system for the new setup to take effect. 4.2 Windows 95 Driver Installation 2. When Update Device Diver Wizard window displays, click Next. 3. Insert the driver CD and click Other Locations. 3

4. Check Other Location. window, type in D:\Win 95, click OK, then click Finish. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive) 5. From the Insert Disk window, click OK. 6. When Copying Files dialog box displays, type in D:\Win95~9, then click OK. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive) 7. At the System Settings Change window, click Yes to restart your system and complete the driver installation. 4.3 Windows 98/98SE Driver Installation 2. At the Add New Hardware Wizard windows, clink Next. 3. Select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended), then click Next. 4. Select Specify a location, uncheck the other boxes, insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win 98, then click Next. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive) 5. Click Next, then Finish. 6. Restart your system to complete installation. 4.4 Windows ME Driver Installation 2. At the Add New Hardware Wizard windows, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), then click Next. 3. Check Specify a location, uncheck the other boxes, insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win ME, then click Next. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive) 4. Click Next, then Finish to complete the installation. 4

5. Click Yes to restart your computer. 4.5 Windows NT 4.0 Driver Installation For PCI Serial card 2. From the desktop, click Start, then Run. 3. Insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win NT\ Setup_Serial.exe, then click OK. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 4. At the Welcome window, click Continue. 5. At the NetMos Serial Port Drivers Setup window, click Next. 6. Click Yes to restart NT to complete driver installation. For PCI Parallel card 2. From the desktop, click Start, then Run. 3. Insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win NT\ Setup_Parallel.exe, then click OK. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 4. At the Welcome window, click Continue. 5. At the NetMos Parallel Port Drivers Setup window, click Next. 6. Click Yes to restart NT to complete driver installation. For PCI Serial/Parallel Combo card 2. From the desktop, click Start, then Run. 3. Insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win NT\ Setup_Combo.exe, then click OK. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 4. At the Welcome window, click Continue. 5

5. At the NetMos Multi-IO Drivers Setup window, click Next. 6. Click Yes to restart NT to complete driver installation. 4.6 Windows 2000 Driver Installation 2. When Found New Hardware Wizard displays, click Next. 3. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended), then click Next. 4. Select Specify a location, then click Next. 5. Insert the driver CD, type in D:\Win 2000, then click OK. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 6. Click Next, then Finish to complete driver installation. 4.7 Windows XP Driver Installation 2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard window, choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), then click Next. 3. Insert the driver CD, check Include this location in the search, uncheck the other boxes, type in D:\Win XP, then click Next. (Assume D: is your CD-ROM drive). 4. At the Hardware Installation window, click Continue Anyway, then click Finish. 5. If the Found New Hardware Wizard window displays again, repeat steps 2-4, then click Finish until the completion of software installation. 6
