1 Product Positioning and Highlights 1.1 Product Positioning HUAWEI TE Mobile and TE Desktop are free, secure, and stable videoconferencing applications for smartphones running Apple ios or Android. Users can conveniently connect to a Huawei telepresence system using Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or 3G. TE Mobile and TE Desktop are potable and easy to install and use, making them ideal applications for individual videoconferencing solutions. TE Mobile is available on both ios and Android. It can connect to the Switch Center (SC) over 3G or Wi-Fi to access a videoconferencing system and join video conferences. TE Mobile can also initiate point-to-point video or audio-only calls. TE Desktop can be installed on computers without additional investment in videoconferencing devices. It can connect to the SC using Ethernet, 3G, or Wi-Fi to access a videoconferencing system and join video conferences. TE Desktop can also initiate point-to-point video or audio-only calls. Figure 1-1 illustrates TE Mobile and TE Desktop on a basic videoconferencing network. 1

Figure 1-1 Basic videoconferencing network On the network shown in Figure 1-1: TE Mobile and TE Desktop use the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to register with the SC. The videoconferencing endpoint and telepresence system use both H.323 and SIP to register with the SC. TE Mobile and TE Desktop can interoperate with any videoconferencing endpoints and telepresence systems that have registered with the SC using SIP. To interoperate with videoconferencing endpoints and telepresence systems that use only H.323 to register with the SC, TE Mobile and TE Desktop require a multipoint control unit (MCU) that uses both H.323 and SIP to register with the SC. TE Mobile & TE Desktop provides a user-friendly interface, where users can perform the following operations: Access the directory and call history using interface button; Initiate a call using dial pad; Enter the setup interface to set languages, ring tones, SRTP encryption, call bandwidth, enable or disable presentation, and configure server address and port number. Figure 1-2 shows the TE Desktop main window. 2

Figure 1-4 TE Mobile home screen (on an Android tablet) 1.2 Product Highlights Compatibility with Multiple Platforms TE Mobile and TE Desktop can run on ios devices (iphone and ipad), Android devices, and computers. HD Dual Stream for Presentation Sharing Account Authorization High Network Adaptability With support for the Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP), TE Mobile and TE Desktop can share and receive a presentation from remote parties during a video call. The SC automatically sends the account names and passwords to TE Mobile and TE Desktop clients. With zero configuration, TE Mobile and TE Desktop can access a Huawei videoconferencing system after the account name and password are entered. This allows users to join conferences on the go. The use of super error concealment (SEC) technology enables TE Mobile and TE Desktop to deliver smooth and sharp videos even in poor network conditions. TE Mobile and TE Desktop ensure excellent audio quality using the packet loss compensation (PLC) algorithm. 4

Display of Availability Status The contacts list shows each contact's status: online, busy, and offline. 5

TE Mobile: Wi-Fi and 3G TE Desktop: Wi-Fi, 3G, and Ethernet TE Mobile and TE Desktop users can access video conferences by simply dialing a conference ID or unified access number. 2.3 Superb Audiovisual Quality Point-to-point SIP call Video call handling: answering a video call in video or audio-only mode (applicable to TE Mobile) H.264 BP and H.264 HP for high quality video reception and transmission Full-duplex digital audio and high-fidelity conference voice with: Audio protocols: G.711A, G.711U, G.722, G.729AB, and ilbc Audio processing technology: AEC, ANS, and AGC Picture in Picture (PiP) for simultaneous display of local and remote videos Privacy protection: turning off the camera during a video call 2.4 Toggling Between Audio-only and Video Calls During a call, a user can toggle between audio-only and video calls at the touch of a button. To switch a video call to an audio-only call, a user simply turns off the camera function. To switch an audio-only call to a video call, a user sends a video request to the remote party. Once the video request is accepted, the audio call becomes a video call. 7

2.5 Two-Stage Dialing TE Mobile and TE Desktop provide RFC 2833 and DTMF two-stage dialing. During interoperation with a network device, such as an MCU or gateway, a user can perform two-stage dialing to implement the interactive voice response (IVR) service and join a multipoint conference. Specifically, a user dials a unified access number to initiate a video call, accesses the keypad in the call window, and follows the voice instructions to join a conference. 2.6 Switching Between Display Layouts During a video call, a user can switch between display layouts to view the local video, remote video, and a presentation. When no presentation is being shared, the local or remote video can be displayed in a PiP window. When a presentation is being shared: On TE Mobile, the presentation is displayed on the larger part of the screen, while the local or remote video is displayed in a PiP window. By default, the PiP window shows the remote video. On TE Desktop, 3-pane mode is available. In this mode, the main pane displays the presentation by default, and the other two smaller panes display the remote and local video. In addition, users can swap the presentation with the videos. 2.7 Presentation Sharing TE Desktop and TE Mobile for tablets support presentation sharing and receiving, while TE Mobile for smartphones only supports presentation sharing. The presentation content supported for sharing varies by version. A user can specify which contacts to import. 11

3 Security Features 3.1 TLS, SRTP, and SSL Encryption TE Desktop and TE Mobile support the following encryption protocols to help ensure data security and stable conference operations: TLS SRTP Using SRTP, parties of a call negotiate the algorithms and keys for media stream encryption and decryption. The sender encrypts media streams using the negotiated encryption algorithm and key, and transmits the streams. The recipient decrypts the received streams using the negotiated decryption algorithm and key, and sends the streams to a decoder. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) SIP signaling is encrypted using SSL. 3.2 AES for Local Storage The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is used when user information, such as the login password and contacts information, is saved. This helps prevent unauthorized changes and theft. 3.2.1 Encryption of FTPS Address Book Downloads TE Desktop and TE Mobile provide encryption for FTPS address book downloads, ensuring data confidentiality and integrity. 12

4 Networks and Applications TE Mobile and TE Desktop support IP network access. TE Desktop supports 720p video calls, while TE Mobile supports 360p video calls. Both are compatible with various SD video protocols. TE Mobile and TE Desktop comply with SIP only and cannot use H.323 to directly communicate with videoconferencing systems. Therefore, the SC is required for interoperation. Figure 4-1 and Figure 4-2 illustrate two networking modes. Figure 4-1 SC deployed on the Internet 13
