VIP Protection Suite Quick-start guide

The Backstage VIP Protection Suite delivers total PC security with: 1 year of LoJack for Laptops to protect against theft 1 year of Norton Online Backup to protect your files (up to 100GB) 1 year of Norton Internet Security 2009 to protect against malware and PC viruses Compatibility requirements The VIP Protection Suite is designed specifically for Sony VAIO PCs and supports the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP (all versions) Microsoft Windows Vista (all versions) Microsoft Windows 7 is currently not supported. For the latest info on support for Windows 7, visit sony.com/vipupdates. Important information about your software activation codes! Your software activation codes are located on the left interior panel of your VIP Protection Suite folder. There is one code for each software program. Be sure to keep these safe. You will need to enter these codes when installing the software suite. Note: The codes are case sensitive.
Welcome to the VIP Protection Suite. Before you begin, make sure you are connected to the Internet and all other programs are closed. Installing LoJack for Laptops Before you begin, make sure you are connected to the Internet and all other programs are closed. Fig. 1 1 To begin, insert the VIP Protection Suite CD into your CD/DVD drive. 2 If you are prompted to run the file VIPProtection.exe, click on that option to continue. 3 Once the main menu appears (Fig. 1), click on LoJack for Laptops to proceed. Next step: Be sure to have your software activation codes handy; you ll need them to activate each program. Fig. 2 1 Select LoJack for Laptops from the main VIP Protection Suite menu. 2 The LoJack for Laptops software should begin downloading automatically and will walk you through a couple easy steps. 3 When prompted, enter your LoJack for Laptops activation code (Fig. 2). 4 Set up your account with LoJack. Problems downloading the LoJack for Laptops software? Fig. 3 If the automatic download in Step 2 does not occur, you will be prompted to download the software directly from the LoJack for Laptops website. In that case, click Download when you reach the web page shown to the left (Fig. 3).
Installing Norton Online Backup Before you begin, make sure you are connected to the Internet and all other programs are closed. Installing Norton Internet Security 2009 Before you begin, make sure that all other programs are closed. 1 Select Norton Online Backup from the main VIP Protection Suite menu. 1 Select Norton Internet Security 2009 from the main VIP Protection Suite menu. (Fig. 6) Fig. 4 2 Before proceeding, you will need to set up an account with Norton Online Backup. Click Create to set up your account (Fig. 4). 3 You will be prompted to enter your Norton Online Backup activation code (Fig. 5). Note: Be sure to click Activate Norton Online Backup before entering your activation code. Fig. 6 2 Then, follow the steps provided in the installer. Next step: In the following pages, you ll find instructions on navigating the various installation scenarios. Find the scenario that fits you best. 4 Follow the steps to download and install the Norton Online Backup software. Fig. 5
Installing Norton Internet Security 2009 Option A: If you have already activated your Norton Internet Security 2009 trial... Installing Norton Internet Security 2009 Option B: If you have the Norton Internet Security 2009 trial but have not activated it... Fig. 7 1 When you reach the screen shown in Fig. 7, click Subscribe Now. 2 You will then be taken to the activation screen. Enter your Norton Internet Security 2009 activation code where indicated below (Fig. 8). Note: Do NOT click the Renew Now option. 3 After installation is complete, you will notice that the VIP Protection Suite installer has automatically minimized. To return to the installer, if necessary, click on it in the task bar at the bottom of your screen. Fig. 9 1 You will be prompted to uninstall the trial. On the screen shown to the left, click Norton Complete Uninstall (Fig. 9). 2 The installer will then uninstall the trial program and you will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Restart Now when prompted (Fig. 10). 3 When your computer has completed restarting, re-launch the VIP Protection Suite and click Norton Internet Security 2009. 4 When prompted, enter your Norton Internet Security 2009 activation code. Installing Norton Internet Security 2009 Option C: If you have another type of antivirus software installed on your computer... Installing Norton Internet Security 2009 Option D: If you already have a paid subscription to Norton Internet Security... Fig. 11 1 If we find another type of antivirus software on your PC, you will be prompted to uninstall it before proceeding. Click Uninstall when you reach the screen shown in Fig. 11. 2 The other antivirus software will then be uninstalled and your computer will be automatically restarted. 3 When your computer has completed restarting, the page shown in Fig. 12 will automatically launch and you will be prompted to enter your Norton Internet Security 2009 activation code. Note: After installation is complete, if you need to return to the VIP Protection Suite installer, you will need to re-launch the program. Fig. 13 If you have over 30 days remaining on a paid subscription to Norton Internet Security, we will let you know how many days are left on your subscription (Fig. 13). Because a new subscription to Norton Internet Security 2009 would overwrite an existing subscription, the VIP Protection Suite will not install your new subscription until you have under 30 days remaining on your existing one. Your activation code will remain valid, so it is OK to wait until a later date before installing Norton Internet Security 2009 from the VIP Protection Suite. Fig. 12
