Access to templates & custom slides 1 To start a new presentation Click Templates in the UpSlide tab Choose a template from the drop down menu 3 To insert a new slide from the Slides Library Click Slides in the UpSlide tab: a side window opens to browse the library Click the small arrows to expand the subfolders To insert slide(s), double click the thumbnail: the slide(s) is automatically inserted after the current slide 2 To insert a new slide from the template Use the native PowerPoint feature: in the Home tab or the Insert tab click New Slide 4 To insert a shape from the Shapes Library Click Shapes: the shapes library opens on the right To insert a shape in the current slide, double click its thumbnail in the shapes library The PowerPoint template contains the most commonly used slide layouts To apply a layout to an existing slide right-click the slide in the PowerPoint slide pane and choose Layout To insert shapes in the master of your presentation right-click the thumbnail and click Insert/remove from master (click again to remove the shape from the master) QUICK START GUIDE 2016 2

Organize your presentation 1 To insert a section/subsection Click Section Choose Insert Section or Insert Subsection 3 To insert the table of contents Click Section Choose Insert Table of Contents To update the table of contents click Refresh 2 To rename or move full Sections/Subsections and insert a subsection Click Outline: the outline pane opens on the right Right-click the slides sections or subsections names in the side window to rename them Right-click a slide s name to insert a subsection before this slide In the outline pane, drag and drop sections and slides to rearrange them 4 To automatically update headers and footers Insert project name and date on the cover slide Click Refresh to update the footers for every slide in the presentation using content from the cover slide Important: Use the Outline feature to rename the dividers never do it directly on the slides QUICK START GUIDE 2016 3

Check compliance To review your presentation and ensure that your content is up-to-date and meets design quality standards Click Check: a side window opens Select the slide to review to fix error slide by slide or Click on Warning Type to fix error by categories Click the item to show more details Hover over a warning to display a preview of what is wrong directly on your slide Fix the issues by clicking the blue tool (one by one or all category) List of potential warnings: Double spaces Punctuation spacing Misaligned shapes Empty placeholders Outdated library slides or shapes Note: When you open an existing presentation, a window pops up on the right bottom of your screen if slides from the library are outdated QUICK START GUIDE 2016 4

Link Excel data to PowerPoint/Word 1 To export Excel charts and tables into PowerPoint/Word as image In PowerPoint/Word select the slide, textbox or page where you want to insert Excel content Select the content in Excel Click PowerPoint/Word To automatically resize the chart or the table to fit the selected shape in PowerPoint/Word click Re-size and Export 2 To export one cell s content from Excel into PowerPoint/Word as text Select the text range in PowerPoint/Word where you want to insert Excel s data Select a cell in Excel Click PowerPoint/Word Choose the Text option in the pop-up window Note: The data imported in PowerPoint is materialized as an hyperlink QUICK START GUIDE 2016 5

Link Excel data to PowerPoint/Word 3 Update data in PowerPoint/Word Select the data to update in PPT/Word Click Update 4 To see the source of an Excel import Select the data to update in PPT/Word Click Go to source to open Excel source Click Link information on the drop down menu to display the list of potential sources found in all opened workbooks Note: The Excel file (or its copy) has to be open on your computer The update is possible even if the location and/or name of the file changed since last update To update several items, click Update all Right-click the imported data to quickly access Update Right-click the imported data to quickly access Go to source 5 To hide text exports Click Hide text exports Note: This will save the presentation, remove hyperlinks and mark presentation as final If you need to edit the presentation again, click Hide text exports again to restore the hyperlinks QUICK START GUIDE 2016 6
