Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) Ref.: BDT/PKM/DM/323 Geneva, 25 June 2013 Ministers for Telecommunications/ICT, Senior Government Officials, HIPCAR Steering Committee Members, Regional European Union Delegations, and Regional Organizations Subject: Caribbean ICT Ministers Forum on Leveraging ICT for Development in the Caribbean, Port-of-Spain, 7-8 August 2013 Dear Sir/Madam, The in collaboration with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) is pleased to invite you to a Regional Ministerial Meeting on Caribbean ICT Ministers Forum on Leveraging ICT for Development in the Caribbean to be held from 7-8 August 2013 at the Hyatt Regency, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Following this, on 9 August, an additional day s programme and special event is being hosted by the CTU. This stakeholder meeting is targeted at Ministers responsible for telecommunications/ict, senior Government officials, and regional organizations. The meeting will examine the state of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the Caribbean and exchange views on current opportunities and challenges. Against that backdrop, the event will review the progress made in implementing the ITU-EC project on the Support for the establishment of Harmonized Policies for the ICT Market in the ACP. Drawing lessons from the implementation of this project, the meeting will then map strategies for the establishment of a new project and potential funding possibilities. I am pleased to note that limited full fellowships will be available to support prospective participants for their travel and stay in Trinidad.
