Chapter 1: Introduction StartMeeting is an easy-to-use collaboration tool that provides the freedom and flexibility to hold online meetings with HD audio, video conferencing and screen sharing. Section 1.1: System Requirements StartMeeting audio conferencing can be accessed at any time by calling from a landline, mobile phone, VoIP (through the Internet using a computer, tablet or mobile device) or a third-party VoIP call. In order to join an online meeting to access screen sharing and video conferencing, the following system requirements must be met: Windows and Mac System Requirements Operating System Mac OSX 10.7 and up Windows 7 and up Ubuntu 14.04 and up * Note for Linux: Preferred Windows Manager environment: Compiz * Desktop environment: Unity, Gnome Bandwidth 100Kb/s (HD audio) 400Kb/s (screen sharing) 500Kb/s (video) Camera Video camera supported by OS, integrated or external Browser Support Chrome 29 or newer Firefox 22 or newer Internet Explorer 10 or newer (Windows only) (Javascript) Section 1.2: Definitions The following is a list of terminology used throughout this guide and within StartMeeting. Dial-in Number A phone number that is dialed to join a meeting. In-country dial-in numbers are available and can be found on the host s Meeting Wall. Access Code A numeric code, specific to the host, that must be entered after dialing the dial-in number in order to join a conference call.

Host The most privileged role in a meeting. Hosts have additional commands available to record, mute/unmute participants, secure the conference and more. Conference An audio meeting that connects participants through a phone and/or VoIP into a virtual room. Meeting Wall A customizable web page that includes additional host tools and information for meeting participants. Online Meeting A virtual room that connects participants computers using the Internet, allowing them to view another s screen and show/see video using a webcam. Online Meeting ID A unique identifier that is used by hosts and participants to join online meetings. Meeting Dashboard The display that appears when hosts and participants join an online meeting. It includes all the online meeting features, such Screen Share, Video, Chat and Record. Audio Sync PIN A four-digit code displayed on the Meeting Dashboard as "PIN" that is used to connect a participant s audio line to the online meeting. Entering this code on the phone is necessary to show video through a webcam. Participant A person in the conference and/or online meeting who can talk, listen and view screens and video. Playback Number A phone number that is dialed to listen to a recorded conference. The host must provide participants with the playback number. (Note: The playback number is different from the conference dial-in number.) PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network, the traditional phone system. PSTN is used when dialing a number from a phone. VoIP Voice over Internet Protocol, a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.

Chapter 2: Audio Conferencing A conference call is the easiest way to connect with a group. Section 2.1: How to Join To join an audio conference call: 1. Dial the in-country dial-in number. A list of in-country dial-in numbers is available in the invitation from the host. 2. When prompted, enter the host s access code, followed by pound (#). Section 2.2: Phone Keypad Commands Control certain aspects of the conference from the telephone with the following commands: *3 Breakout Rooms Leave the main conference to join a sub-conference. Press *3 followed by the number of the sub-conference, from 1 to 9, or press *3* to return to the main conference room at any time. *4 Instructions Hear the list of available keypad commands. *6 Self Mute Mute your individual line. Press *6 again to unmute the line. Chapter 3: Online Meetings Use online meetings to join a web conference to screen share and show video using a webcam. Section 3.1: Download the Desktop App The StartMeeting desktop application can be downloaded at the bottom of the Home page on www.startmeeting.com by clicking Get desktop app. Once the desktop app has been downloaded, it is available from your desktop. Section 3.2: How to Join Join the online meeting by clicking the host s online meeting link and connecting with the StartMeeting desktop application (recommended) or Web Viewer. Note: VoIP and video are not supported through Web Viewer when using Internet Explorer or Safari. 1. Open the invitation from the host. 2. Click the online meeting link. 3. If you have the StartMeeting desktop application installed (see Section 3.1), it will automatically launch when you click the online meeting link. Click Join and enter your name, email address and the host s online meeting ID. 4. If you do not have the StartMeeting desktop application, you will be connected through Web Viewer. On the Web Viewer pop-up window, enter your name and email address and click Join Now.

Section 3.3: Screen Sharing The host can screen share or switch presenters to allow other participants to share their screens. To accept the presenter role and begin screen sharing: 1. Click Start sharing to accept the nomination to become a presenter or Decline. 2. On the Meeting Dashboard, click Play and then the Select the items to share square that appears. 3. To share a specific application, check the box next to it. To share everything on your screen, or if using more than one monitor, click the image of the monitor you want to share. 4. By default, any new windows opened while the meeting is in progress will be shared. Uncheck Show new windows at the bottom of the window to turn this off. 5. Click Start Sharing. The bar at the top of the Meeting Dashboard turns green and Sharing my Screen appears. 6. Click Pause to place the screen sharing session on hold. Pause turns red and Meeting Paused displays on participants screens. Note: Although the screen is paused, the meeting is not interrupted. Click Pause again to resume screen sharing. 7. To end the screen sharing session, click Stop. The bar at the top of the Meeting Dashboard turns gray and Screen Sharing OFF appears. Participants are disconnected from screen sharing but can continue on audio or video. Section 3.4: Video Conferencing Video conferencing allows anyone in the online meeting with a webcam to show video. 1. Click Camera on the Meeting Dashboard. 2. Choose to dial in using the telephone or through VoIP on your computer. If you dial in using the telephone, enter the Audio Sync PIN on your phone keypad to connect your phone line to the online meeting. 3. Video is live once the Camera turns green. Chapter 4: Meeting Wall The host can post contact information, links, documents, messages or additional details for the meeting on the Meeting Wall. Note: The host may password protect any of the panels on the Meeting Wall. If this is the case, a password is required to access the information below. Section 4.1: Meeting Resources Find links, files or pictures on the Meeting Resources panel that may be useful before, during or after the meeting. 1. Click the URL for the host s Meeting Wall.

2. Click any links or documents listed in the Meeting Resources section. Section 4.2: Chat View and send messages before, during or after the meeting (if enabled by the host). 1. Go to the host s Meeting Wall. 2. Read any messages posted in the Chat section. 3. Type a message for visitors to read and click Send. Section 4.3: Radio Listen to a live stream of the conference from the Meeting Wall (if enabled by the host). 1. Go to the host s Meeting Wall at the time of the conference. 2. Scroll to the Radio section. 3. If the conference has started and Radio has been enabled, on air will appear and you will hear the audio through your computer speakers.
