1 Scenario SAP BPC delivers own web content for the Internet Information Service of Windows. If you have users, who are just using BPC for Excel and if you have a separate Portal, like the SAP Enterprise Portal in place, it might make sense to directly link BPC for Excel from this Portal instead of accessing BPC portal first. This guide explains how you have to setup the direct link. - 1 -

2 The Step By Step Solution 2.1 How to Download Software You have an already installed SAP BPC server in place. You can access the entry page via the URL http://<servername>/osoft, where the <Servername> is the name of the application server (Microsoft platform) or the.net-server (NetWeaver platform). Locate Common.js First of all we have to locate the file Common.js. We have to either copy it to the other application server or to link it (http://<servername>/osoft/scripts/co mmon.js) within the webpage. Create a webpage Create a new webpage in your Portal / on your webserver. In this example we create the file index.html in the folder EPlink of the IIS. - 2 -

Create link in webpage Open your webpage in source code mode, e.g. in Notepad. Add a scripttag incl. the closing tag to the header to include Common.js into the webpage. After that, add a link pointing onto the javascript-method fn_launchexcel() to the body of the webpage. Open the webpage Open the webpage in the Internet Explorer. You will find a link. BPC Excel opens If you click on the link, BPC Excel will open. The server name is currently still blank. Hardcode the Servername If you have made a copy of the Common.js, you can change the function fn_launchexcel(). Search for launch in the Common.js and enter instead of <![CDATA["+fn_GetCookieValue("Ap pserverpath")+"]]> the server name. - 3 -

Test the link Now, the name of the server will be filled as a default in the connection wizard. - 4 -
