Instruction Manual Introduction Thank you for your purchase of a StarTech.com ATX 12V Silent Power Supply. Designed for 2U and 3U form factors, this Power Supply offers a generous number of power connections, including PCI Express and SATA, for maximum compatibility. Features ATX 2.01 compliant, including two 12V power rails to deliver stable power to demanding devices Ball bearing fan provides superior airflow for increased reliability Built-in protection from short circuit, over power, over voltage and no-load situations to prevent power supply damage Generous number of accessory connectors provided, including support for SATA and PCI express connections AC line auto sensing Before You Begin Contents This package should contain: 1 x Power supply 1 x Power cord 1 x Instruction manual 1

Installation Instruction Manual CAUTION: Computer equipment contains sensitive electronic components that are easily damaged by static electricity and excessive shock. When handling the power supply and other components, ensure you are properly grounded using an anti-static mat or similar device. If anti-static equipment is not available, ground yourself by touching the exterior of the computer case or another large metal surface before handling any peripherals. NOTE: Each server case will provide a power supply mounting kit, in order to interface between the power supply/replacement power supply and the server casing. If you are uncertain as to which mounting kit to use, please consult the documentation that accompanied the purchase of the server/computer, for further instruction as to which kit/adapter to use. The following instructions assume that the dimensions of the original power supply are identical to the replacement power supply (ATX2POW4002U). If this is not the case, please ensure that you have attached the proper adapter, to ensure a snug fit between the casing and the power supply. 1. Installation of a power supply requires some mechanical skill and requires that you open your computer case to disconnect and reconnect wires. If you are unfamiliar with this kind of work, consider bringing your computer and new StarTech.com power supply to your local computer store for help. 2. This power supply features AC line auto sensing, which eliminates the need to adjust the power supply voltage based on geographic location. 3. If you are replacing an old power supply in your computer, ensure the computer is shut down and disconnect the power cord from the back of the old supply. 4. Open your computer case. Each computer design varies as to how this step is performed. Please consult the documentation that accompanied your computer/server when purchased or contact your local computer store for help. 5. With the computer case open, review the connectors being used from your old power supply. If you are building a new computer, review the connectors that you will need to use. 6. Disconnect the old power supply connections from inside your computer. Hard disk drive, CD drive and floppy disk drive connectors (if applicable) disconnect by pulling on the connector. The motherboard connector(s) have a clip that must be pressed while pulling on the connector to release them. A rocking motion while pulling will aid in getting the connectors loose. Never pull on the wires of a connector to unplug it. 7. Remove the power supply mounting kit that is holding your existing power supply (with power supply attached) from the case, by unfastening any screws holding it in place. Detach the mounting kit from the existing power supply, by removing any screws. 8. Attach the mounting kit removed in step 7 to the replacement power supply, using the screws removed in step 7. Once the replacement power supply is securely fastened to the mounting kit, insert the cables provided by the power source into the computer casing, in order to simplify the eventual connection to internal components. 9. Gently slide the replacement power supply into the empty space left by the original power supply, ensuring that the holes provided by the attached mounting kit are 2

Instruction Manual properly aligned with the holes provided by the computer casing. Once situated, fasten the mounted power supply to the computer casing, using the screws removed in step 7. 10. As necessary, connect each internal component to the power supply. Tie any unused wires away from fans and other moving parts. 11. Replace the case cover and secure it. You may wish to not replace the screws until after you have checked that all connections are working. 12. Insert the power cord removed in step 3, into the power port located on the replacement power supply. At this time, the yellow light situated beneath the power port will become illuminated, indicating that the power supply is receiving power. 13. Start your computer. You should hear its fans and devices immediately begin to run. If you do not, toggle the rear switch on the power supply to off, disconnect the power cord, open the case and check that all connectors are well seated and secure. 14. When you have confirmed all connections are working, replace the screws in your case. 15. Power supplies contain electrical and electronic components and should be disposed of properly. If you are replacing a power supply, please follow your city s rules for proper disposal of electrical equipment. 3
