Installation Prerequisites Recommendations Install this program on the database server. This decreases network traffic and will allow the process to run faster. Schedule processes during minimal traffic times. Naturally, scheduling in smaller intervals increases server usage and longer intervals decreases server usage. Note: If a previous version of Ungerboeck Trace Notification is installed, it must be uninstalled through Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features prior to installing a new version of the Ungerboeck Trace Notification. Required Downloads All of the required files can be obtained from the Ungerboeck FTP site (ftp://ftp.ungerboeck.com/). Download the following files to the server where the Ungerboeck Trace Notification will be installed. Installing Ungerboeck E-mail Trace Notification Service Installing Ungerboeck E-Mail Trace Service Unzip the Ungerboeck_E-mail_Trace_Service.zip file to the desktop of your server. 1. Double-click to run Setup.exe - for Vista/Windows 7 right click and select Run as Administrator 2. Click [Next] 3. Click [Next] to install to the default location. Note: The default location is C:\Program Files\Ungerboeck\ EBMSEmailTraceServiceSetup\. To install to a different location click Browse. 4. Click [Next] 5. Click [Close] Page 3 of 6
Configure USISERVICE.ini Browse to the where the E-mail Trace Service is installed. The Default location is C:\Program Files\Ungerboeck\EBMSEmailTraceServiceSetup\ 1. Edit the USISERVICE.ini 2. Enter the ServerIntervalTime (how often EBMS Trace Service should check for traces) in minutes. 3. Enter the StopTime if the service should be stopped for database maintenance every day. Note: If a Stoptime is set, the service will not automatically restart. It will need to be manually started every day after maintenance is complete. If a stop time is not needed, leave this value blank. 4. Enter the SMTPSERVER IP address or name of your SMTP server 5. Enter the FromEmailAddress this is the E-Mail Address from which you would like your traces to be sent. 6. Enter the Server Name in the DbParm= Data Source= Server Name 7. Enter the Database Name in the Initial Catalog = Database_Name field 8. Enter the appropriate OrgCode 9. Save and Close Multi-Organization Setup The EBMS E-mail Trace Service can be configured for multi-database or multi-organization environments. The DbParm1= and OrgCode1= lines can be copied, incrementing the database and org line numbers for each additional database/organization. Contact Ungerboeck Client Care for assistance using the Trace Service for multiple databases/organizations. Page 4 of 6
Ungerboeck BackOffice Configuration Creating Login.XML File 1. Log into Ungerboeck BackOffice 2. From the Main Menu, select System Administration Module and choose Schedule Task 3. Click the Service Auto Login icon 4. Click the [ ] button for the Location field to browse to the E-Mail Trace Service Installation Directory. By default this will be c:\program files\ungerboeck\ungerboeck Email Trace Service 19.30\ 5. Enter the System Administrator User ID (e.g. SYSADMIN or USIADMIN) 6. Enter the password for the Administrator account. 7. Confirm the password. 8. Click [OK] to create the file Configuring Your Users Settings While logged into Ungerboeck BackOffice as the administrator, change the user settings for each user using the E- mail Trace Service. The following will also need to be completed for the administrator user that was used to create the.xml file. 1. Select User Master under the System Administration module. 2. Highlight a user and select the User Settings icon. 3. Check the via E-Mail checkbox under Trace Settings. 4. Change the E-Mail Send Process dropdown to use SMTP Server. 5. Log out of EBMS to activate the changes. Page 5 of 6
Starting the E-mail Trace Notification Service Configuring and Starting the Service To start the E-mail Trace Service: 1. Open Computer Management from Administrative Tools on the server where the Trace Service is installed. 2. Expand Services and Applications and highlight Services. 3. In the list of Services, double-click to edit the Properties of EBMS Email Trace Service. 4. In the Startup type, select Automatic. 5. Click the Start button to start the service. Page 6 of 6
Troubleshooting E-mail Trace Service Event Log The EBMS E-mail Trace Service creates an event log to track the service s activities. This event log can be viewed from the Event Viewer in Computer Management under Administrative Tools. If you receive an error message or the EBMS E-mail Trace Service fails to start, please check the Event Viewer to see the full error.
