Creating a Storm Start by creating a storm with the create a Storm button on your Homepage. Select a Storm name and a Template. Add participants you want to invite. You can change the title and Template later and invite others to join Your storm any time throughout the life of your storm.

Dashboard The dashboard is a visual way to easily see all of your storms. At the top you ll notice up to 4 tabs. If the tabs aren t showing it means there is no data to show. 1. Activity shows all the storms that have activity that you haven t seen yet. 2. Recent shows all your storms sorted by the last time you accessed them. 3. Closed this shows all the storms you ve closed. When you close a storm it becomes read only so it can t be modified. 4. Invites this shows a list of all the storms you ve been invited to but haven t visited yet.

Choosing a smart template Stormboard has a large library of smart templates to choose from. The labelled sections in these templates will appear on reports as headings with all of the sticky notes in the section. Stormboard knows which sticky notes you put where, so keep this in mind when selecting a template.

Adding Ideas To add ideas, all you need to do is double click (or double tap on a tablet or touchscreen) and a new dialog will pop up for you to create your sticky.

Sticky Note Menu There are six different kinds of sticky notes, Text, Images, Files, video, Sketches and Index cards. select the type of sticky note you would like to create from the menu above the white sticky note.

Text Sticky To add a text sticky note simply type your text in the white box under the sticky menu and press enter when you're ready. This will place the note on the board where it can then be moved wherever you like. The text on the sticky note can be changed at any time by double clicking on the note to edit the text.

Image Sticky Upload an image to your Storm by either dragging it from your desktop onto the board, or clicking the upload button after selecting the image sticky type from the menu.you can also sketch directly on top of uploaded images. This is great for working together on screen mockups or photo edits or logo designs. The options are limitless!

File Sticky Documents can also be dragged from your desktop or uploaded by clicking on the "Select local file" button. Other people in the storm are then able to download the document. You can also add ideas from your One Drive or Box accounts and have them embedded straight into your storm. You can preview PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint documents directly in Stormboard.

Video Sticky Upload a video by pasting a link from YouTube or Vimeo into the video sticky note. A preview image is displayed and anyone can play the video simply by clicking on it.

Sketch Sticky Sometimes you need to demonstrate something with freehand sketching. When you select the sketch sticky note type you will be able to sketch in multiple colors and pen sizes and then save it to your storm.

Index Cards Sometimes you need to categorize and order sticky notes. That's where Index Cards come in. The text you type in the index card before hitting enter will show up as the title of the card. You can then drag and drop sticky notes on top of the card and they will become new lines, or enter new lines on the card by simply clicking to type. Any of the lines can be dragged off the index card to become an independent sticky note.

Commenting on Sticky Notes To comment on a sticky note simply click on the speech bubble in the lower left hand corner of the note, type your message and press enter. If someone comments a red number will appear on the comment bubble to notify you. Click to comment on Sticky Note

Voting on Sticky Notes Each participant is assigned 10 votes. The number can be changed by the admin in the storm setup window. To add your vote click on the plus sign to add how many votes you want to give the idea.

Edit a Sticky Note Each sticky note has a settings menu that will appear when you click on the wheel in the upper right hand corner. This menu allows you to delete the sticky, see its history, lock it in place, make it a title font or turn it into an Index Card, copy/move it within the storm, or to another storm and change the color of the note. Click to edit Sticky Note

Select Multiple Sticky Notes Hold down the shift key, drag your mouse over a group of sticky notes and you can select them all. Once selected you can move them as a group, or use the menu that pops up to align notes to a grid, move/copy to another storm. HOLD shift + drag your mouse

Activity Panel The new activity panel shows you all the things that have changed in your storm. It is broken up into five categories ideas, comments, moves, legend and votes. Ideas shows all the ideas that have been added to the storm that you haven t seen. Comments shows all the comments you haven t read yet. Moves shows all the ideas that were moved from one section of the storm to another. Legend shows all the color/ legend changes made to your ideas and votes shows ideas that have had votes added or removed that you haven t seen. If you click on the idea in the activity panel, Stormboard will automatically zoom you over to that idea. You can use the down arrow key on your keyboard to quickly go through and view each activity or you can click the Mark All As Seen button to clear that particular activity.

New Ideas When you go into a storm, if there are new ideas you haven t seen yet, they will show up as fully coloured stickies. They are also filled in on the viewfinder, making it really easy to quickly see what s new. To show that you ve seen the idea, you can just move your mouse over the sticky or touch it if you re on a touch device.

New Comments Ideas with comments you haven t seen show up with a red notifier on the idea (as always). Additionally, they are highlighted with a red border in the view finder to make it easy to see them. To clear them, simply read each comment by clicking on it.

History Panel The history panel shows all the activity in the storm in chronological order from newest to oldest in case you cleared your activity by mistake. As with before, if you click on an idea in the history panel, it will automatically zoom you over to that idea.

Colors = Legends In the bottom right hand corner you will see six colors. When you click on each color a settings wheel will appear to the right of it. Clicking on this allows you to rename the colors as needed. Colors can be assigned to specific people, topic or stages in the process. All types of sticky notes can be created in any of the colors and changed at any time. Click to rename categories

The Lower Menu The secondary menu at the bottom of the storm has several options 1. Share - Takes you to the invite menu 2. Setup - Provides options for changing the storm title and other options 3. Template - Allows you to change the current template being used 4. Reports - Reporting is an extremely useful function for subscribed Stormboard teams 5. Import - Import data into you storms using xls.,slsx.,csv. or other file formats 6. Participants Area - Shows active and inactive users in the Storm 1 2 3 4 5 6

Share Menu Storms are more fun (and usefu) when they're used to collaborate within a group. To invite people to participate in your storm click the Share button on the bottom menu. This will open a window where you can either enter the email addresses of the invitees or copy the share link to send via another method. Just be careful who you send that link to, as they will automaticall gain access to the storm.

Storm Setup Menu Provides several beneficial options. Change the name of a storm, storm template, how many votes to assign to each participant, show or hide the creator of ideas, allow users to edit others sticky notes, turn storm chat on or off. Storm Setup available to anyone with administrative rights.

Reports Menu One of the most powerful features of Stormboard is the reporting capabilities. Reports are available to all Start up or team subscribers.

Participants Area Check the Storm participants area. People in the green circles are currently active, red are logged in but not active. Invitees who have not accepted or bounced appear in the outstanding invitees dashboard on home page. Currently Active Logged In Not Active

Overview Menu This menu is in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It includes viewfinder, zoom slide, activity history, chat window, search window and access to help and account information.

Viewfinder and Zoom In the upper right hand corner, it allows the user to see what is going on in the storm. Newly added sticky notes appear with a colored dot in the middle of them, stickies with new comments appear with a red outline. The zoom slider on the bottom of the viewfinder allows you to zoom in and out of the storm.

Storm Switcher The new storm switcher makes it super easy to switch between storms. the list is sorted by the last active storm so it s easy to flip between projects you re working on.

YOU MADE IT! Please visit the tutorials page at BLOG.STORMBOARD.COM for practical examples of how you can apply the features.
