Installing the Software Software Installation To install the ScreenBeam software: 1. Double-click the ScreenBeamTouch.exe file to start software installation. Select a language for the installer and click OK.

2. A ScreenBeam Touch screen appears. Read the onscreen information, then click Next. 3. Choose an installation location for the software, then click Install. 3

4. Another screen appears while the software installs. 5. A final screen appears when the software is installed successfully. Click Finish. 4

Using the Software The ScreenBeam Touch software is a powerful and interactive tool, ideal for education and business applications. With ScreenBeam Touch, users can control their laptop with fingertips or a stylus, instead of using a mouse. The figure below shows the software interface: The software s main functions are accessible through the icon bar at the top of the whiteboard.

Pages Clicking the Pages icon from the Main Menu displays the Pages options in the menu. White Page Clicking the White Page icon ( ) creates a new white page on the whiteboard. Black Page Clicking the Black Page icon ( ) creates a new black page on the whiteboard. Green Page Clicking the Green Page icon ( ) creates a new green page on the whiteboard. Image Page Clicking the Image Page icon ( ) creates a new page with an image as the background on the whiteboard. Select the image from an image folder. 6

Screen Page Clicking the Screen Page icon ( ) creates a new page with the computer desktop as the background on the whiteboard. Transparent Page Clicking the Transparent Page icon ( ) creates a new page that can be used with basic ScreenBeam Touch functions. For example, open a Word file, and then use the ScreenBeam Touch software to create a transparent page and add notes on it. Pens Clicking the Pens icon from the whiteboard menu displays the Pens options in the menu. Pencil Clicking the Pencil icon ( ) activates the Pencil function, which allows basic drawing and writing. Options include Color, Transparency, Line Width, and Line Style. 7

Soft Pen Clicking the Soft Pen icon ( ) activates the Soft Pen function. Options include Color, Transparency, Line Width, and Line Style. Highlight Pen Clicking the Highlight Pen icon ( ) activates the Highlight Pen function, used for highlighting existing text. Options include Color, Transparency, Line Width, and Line Style. Texture Pen Clicking the Texture Pen icon ( ) activates the Texture Pen function, based on the texture image options. Additional textures can be added by the user. Options include Line Width and Transparency. Brush Pen Clicking the Brush Pen icon ( ) activates the Brush Pen function, used for artistic drawing. Stroke and width are changed by drawing speed. Options include Color, Line Width, and Transparency. 8

Intelligent Pen Clicking the Intelligent Pen icon ( ) activates the Intelligent Pen function, used for drawing lines that automatically convert into straight lines, broken lines, rectangles, circles, etc. Options include Color, Line Width, and Transparency. Object Pen Clicking the Object Pen icon ( ) activates the Object Pen function, which allows drawing and writing using a selected figure. Options include Transparency. Laser Pen Clicking the Laser Pen icon ( ) activates the Laser Pen function, which allows drawing and writing that flashes in several colors. Options include Color, Line Width, and Line Style. 9

Figures Clicking the Figures icon from the whiteboard menu displays the Figures options in the menu. The Figures options allow users to create shapes, as shown by the shape icons, above. All figures can be moved, resized, or transformed into to different figures. Erasers Clicking the Erasers icon from the whiteboard menu displays the Erasers options in the menu. Object Eraser Clicking the Object Eraser icon ( ) activates the Object Eraser function, which erases objects on the whiteboard. 10

Bitmap Eraser (Small, Medium, Large) Clicking the Bitmap Eraser icon ( ) activates the Bitmap Eraser function, which changes the size of the Eraser. Shade Eraser Clicking the Shade Eraser icon ( erases shaded objects. ) activates the Shade Eraser function, which Insert Object The ScreenBeam Touch software supports adding multimedia objects. Insert Image Clicking the Insert Image icon ( inserts a selected image. ) activates the Insert Image function, which 11

Insert Text Clicking the Insert Text icon ( ) activates the Insert Text function, which inserts selected text. Insert Text supports handwriting recognition. Insert Video Clicking the Insert Video icon ( ) activates the Insert Video function, which inserts a selected video. Insert Video supports the following video file types:.mp4,.avi,.wmv,.flv,.3gp,.mpg,.asf,.dat. Insert Flash Clicking the Insert Flash icon ( inserts a selected Flash file. ) activates the Insert Flash function, which Insert Shade Clicking the Insert Shade icon ( ) activates the Insert Shade function, which inserts a shade, or curtain, hiding the contents behind it. Insert Table Clicking the Insert Table icon ( ) activates the Insert Table function, which inserts a table. This function supports handwriting recognition. 12

Insert Histogram Clicking the Insert Histogram icon ( function, which inserts a histogram. ) activates the Insert Histogram Recorder The Recorder allows you to record actions performed on the whiteboard. Record Clicking the Record icon ( ) activates the Record function. Any actions performed on the whiteboard will be recorded for later playback. Stop Clicking the Stop icon ( ) activates the Stop function, which stops a playback. Play Clicking the Play icon ( selected recording. ) activates the Play function, which plays back a 13

Save Clicking the Save icon ( current recording. ) activates the Save function, which saves the Open Clicking the Open icon ( ) activates the Open function, which opens and starts playing a selected recording. Page Operations Page Operations handle common actions performed on whiteboard pages. Zoom In Clicking the Zoom In icon ( ) activates the Zoom In function, which magnifies the contents of the page. 14

Zoom In Clicking the Zoom Out icon ( ) activates the Zoom Out function, which minimizes the contents of the page. Page Up Clicking the Page Up icon ( the previous page. ) activates the Page Up function, which displays Page Down Clicking the Page Down icon ( displays the next page. ) activates the Page Down function, which Free Move Clicking the Free Move icon ( ) activates the Free Move function, which allows browsing on the currently displayed page. Move Back Clicking the Move Back icon ( ) activates the Move Back function, which moves the focus back to the center of the currently displayed page. 15

Clear Page Clicking the Clear Page icon ( ) activates the Clear Page function, which deletes all content on the currently displayed page. Resource Library The Resource Library option provides an index view of the existing pages of the whiteboard. An example of the index view is shown in the second figure, below. 16

Color Clicking the Color icon displays two options: Shape Outline is used to change the color of lines, or the outline of a shape. Shape Fill is used to fill a page or object with the selected color. Line Width Line Width is used to set width for lines, or the outlines of objects. Clicking the Line Width icon generates a slider bar that adjusts line width, and a series of pre-set line widths. 17

Line Style Clicking the Line Style icon generates two options: Cap and Dash. If no object is selected, the style selected will apply to lines subsequently drawn. 18

Transparency Clicking the Transparency icon generates a slider bar that adjusts the transparency of a selected object, and a series of pre-set transparency levels. Wheel Functions These functions are accessed from the wheel on the left side of the menu bar. The bottom icon generates the Main Menu, discussed in the next section 19

Desktop Clicking the Desktop icon ( computer desktop. ) switches the whiteboard display to the Select Clicking the Select icon ( ) allows the user to select an item. Undo Clicking the Undo icon ( ) allows the user to cancel the last action. Redo Clicking the Redo icon ( ) allows the user to repeat the last action. 20

Main Menu The Main Menu is activated by clicking on the bottom icon in the wheel. New File Clicking New File creates a new file. Open File Clicking Open File opens a.draw file. This is the default file format of the ScreenBeam Touch software. Import Background Clicking Import Background imports a selected file as the page s background. File formats supported include bmp, jpg, gif, tif, emf, png, wmf, ppt, pptx, and CFF*.iwb. Save File Clicking Save File saves all pages and objects as a.draw file. Save As Clicking Save As saves a page as a selected file type. Options include bmp, jpg, gif, tif, png, pdf, ppt, pptx, doc, docx, htm, and CFF*.iwb. 21

Setting Clicking Setting allows the configuration of the launch page when starting the ScreenBeam software. Select one of the StartupPage Setting options, then scale the image to a desired size. About Clicking About displays the software s version number. Exit Clicking Exit closes the software. 22

Right-Click Menu To activate the right-click menu, touch the whiteboard and hold for a few seconds. A menu of options appears, as shown below: 23

Copy Clicking Copy copies the selected object(s). Cut Clicking Cut cuts the selected object(s) and places the object(s) on the clipboard. Paste Clicking Paste pastes copied or cut object(s). Clone Clicking Clone copies and pastes the selected object(s). Lock Clicking Lock locks the selected object(s).locked objects can t be moved, deleted, magnified, or minimized. Delete Clicking Delete removes the selected object(s) permanently. 24

Rotate Clicking Rotate rotates the selected object(s). Options include 45º, 90º, 180º, and 270º. Group Clicking Group groups the selected objects. After they are grouped, the objects will behave as one object when moved, deleted, etc. Click Ungroup to undo. Layer Sequence Clicking Layer Sequence arranges the selected object(s) on the whiteboard by layer. Options include Bring to Front, Send to Back, Bring Forward, and Send Backward. Flip Clicking Flip flips the selected object(s). The object(s) can be flipped along their Horizontal or Vertical axis. Mirror Clicking Mirror mirrors the selected object(s). The object(s) can be mirrored along their Horizontal or Vertical axis. Drag Copy Clicking Drag Copy activates the Drag Copy option for the selected object(s). When Drag Copy is activated, the object(s) will be duplicated when moved to a new position. 25

Hyperlink Clicking Hyperlink generates the Link Setting window. Use this window to add links to audio files (supported files:.mp3,.wav, or.wma) for selected objects or pages. Select the audio file, then click the appropriate button ( ) to establish the link. Clicking the music icon that appears on the object or page will play the audio. 26

Animation Clicking Animation generates the Animation Setting window. Use this window to add an animation behavior for selected objects or pages. Select an animation type from the Page Animation drop-down menu, then click OK. The object or page will animate with the selected animation type. 27

Shortcut Bar The Shortcut Bar allows users to customize frequently-used tools. To add a shortcut, drag the icon from the subcategory and drop. 28

To delete a shortcut, simply drag away the icon from the Shortcut Bar and drop. 29
