IBM Storage Host Software Solutions Information Center For detailed usage information, refer to the IBM Storage Host Software Solutions Information Center: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ strhosts/ic. Limitations 1. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility applies to systems located within the same data center. 2. Using Hyper-Scale Mobility to mobilize volumes that are mapped to Unix or Linux hosts, and are backed-up using IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager version 3.2 or earlier, is not supported. 3. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility cannot be applied directly on a volume that belongs to a consistency group. Before such a volume can be moved using IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility, it must be removed from the consistency group. 4. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility does not apply to volume snapshots. When the migration is changed to proxy state, all snapshots of the pertinent migrated volume are deleted automatically. 5. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility does not migrate a volume that is in a mirroring relationships. Before a volume can be moved using IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility, its mirroring relationship must be deleted. 6. Using Hyper-Scale Mobility to mobilize volumes that are mapped to Windows Server hosts, and are backed-up using Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service, with IBM XIV Provider for Microsoft Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) version 2.3.2 or earlier, is not supported. To use Hyper-Scale Mobility in this case, IBM XIV Provider for Microsoft Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) version 2.4.0 or later must be installed. Note: IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Windows is relying on Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service. To use Hyper-Scale Mobility with IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Windows, IBM XIV Provider for Microsoft Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) version 2.4.0 or later must be installed. 7. Using Hyper-Scale Mobility to mobilize volumes that are mapped to Windows Server hosts, and are protected by IBM Storage Enabler for Windows Failover Clustering version 1.1.0 or earlier, is not supported. To use Hyper-Scale Mobility in this case, IBM Storage Enabler for Windows Failover Clustering version 1.2.0 or later must be installed. Additional information may be available from the respective release notes of the products mentioned in the limitations: 1. For IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Unix and Linux please refer to release notes of version 4.1 or later. 2. For IBM XIV Provider for Microsoft Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service release notes, please refer to: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/strhosts/ic/ topic/com.ibm.help.strghosts.doc/vss-homepage.html. 3. For IBM Storage Enabler for Windows Failover Clustering, release notes, please refer to: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/strhosts/ic/index.jsp?topic= %2Fcom.ibm.help.strghosts.doc%2Fmscs-homepage.html. 2 IBM XIV Gen3 Storage System: Release Notes for version 11.4.2
Fixed issues SYS-262859 A firewall between XIV and the Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager (TKLM) server needs to allow an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) ping for XIV to connect to the TKLM server. Service 11.4.0 and up SYS-263107 In rare conditions, data on a remote mirrored volume may become inconsistent with the data on the source volume. The conditions are: The source volume has been copied from another volume using XIV command VOL_COPY; the background copy is still in progress; and the source volume has at least one snapshot, while a write operation is done on a partition that has not been copied yet to the source volume, at a particular timing. The inconsistency will be automatically detected later by the XIV scrub process and trigger an event, requiring XIV support. The inconsistency will be fixed by XIV support. High Impact 11.0.0 and up SYS-263353 There is a low probability that the host may lose connectivity to the XIV storage due to faulty behavior of the XIV HBA. High Impact 11.0.0 and up SYS-263482 The following new behaviour is not documented on the XCLI Reference Guide. Starting from release 11.4.1.a, application administrators can execute the following commands: v mirror_list v schedule_list v sync_job_list Service 11.4.1.a Release Notes 3
SYS-263645 During Data Migration, an internal process failure might cause the system to lose the disks on the module. This situation might arise, in rare cases, when all of the following occur: v There are multiple reads or writes directed to a specific partition that has not yet been migrated to XIV. v Serving data from the migration source is extremely slow. v There is a hardware failure (disk/module). High Impact 11.0.0 and up SYS-263672 If an encrypted system is powered on when the Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager (TKLM) server is not available, the system will stay in maintenance mode. The system cannot be moved to the ON state without the involvement of support. Fix description: A new command encrypt_recovery_finish has been added in order to move the system state to ON. The command can be used once connectivity between XIV and the TKLM server is available, and there are no other XIV maintenance issues. The command is documented in the IBM XIV Storage System XCLI Reference Guide. High Impact 11.4.0 and up SYS-265000 The events FC_LINK_IS_NOW_DOWN and FC_LINK_IS_NOW_UP are not visible to external users. Service 11.4.0 and up SYS-265336 In rare conditions, access of a host to a volume that is the source of a disconnected mirror, may be lost when the host is sending a space reclamation SCSI command. High impact 11.2.0 and up SYS-265403 This release of XIV microcode addresses the CVE-2014-0160 "Heartbleed" issue (http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=cve-2014-0160). 4 IBM XIV Gen3 Storage System: Release Notes for version 11.4.2
After upgrading from a version exposed to Heartbleed, additional steps are required: 1. The digital SSL Certificates provided by IBM need to be replaced, and will be replaced by IBM as part of the upgrade procedure. 2. If you installed your own digital certificates, revoke those and replace them with new certificates. Be sure not to generate the new certificates using the old private key and create a new private key (using openssl genrsa). Use the new private key to create the new certificate signing request (CSR). 3. The admin password needs to be changed, as well as any additional users defined internally (if you're using LDAP authentication, then only the admin password needs to be changed). Make sure to do this after upgrading and replacing the digital certificates. Hyper Affected version(s): 11.3.0, 11.3.0.a, 11.3.1, 11.4.1, 11.4.1.a Known issues Copyrights SYS-263438 After 4377 Hyper-Scale Mobility migrations, the maximum number of volumes in a system (12,000) will decrease by 1 volume with each new migration. Moderate 11.3.0 and up SYS-266677 iscsi Login using the CHAP protocol fails. High Impact 11.4.1.b and up Copyright IBM Corporation 2014.
