Data usage Android turning on data Go to Settings Wireless and networks Data Usage, then turn on Mobile data Select Access Point Names and add the following APN: Name: Airtel, APN: airtel-ci-gprs.com iphone turning on data Go to Settings Mobile Data and turn on Mobile Data Go to Mobile Data Network and enter APN: airtel-ci-gprs.com Wi-Fi Assist This automatically switches your phone to mobile data if it senses a low Wi-Fi signal. Go to Settings Mobile Data then scroll to the bottom and switch off Wi-Fi Assist Data Tracking Use a data tracker app such as My Data Manager and set to your bill cycle dates e.g. our bill cycle runs from 20th of the month to 19th of the following month. 6
Understand how much data your apps use Facebook make sure you turn off auto play video. To do this tap the More button in the lower-right corner Settings Account Settings Videos and Photos Auto Play choose on Wi-Fi Connection Only or Never Auto Play Videos. Instagram go to you profile click the three dots (Android) or setting gear (iphone) Mobile Data Usage then select Use Less Data Netflix Netflix uses a lot of data. You can download your shows/movies over Wi-Fi so you want to watch them when you re offline go to Menu Available for Download search the show/movie you want to download click the Download icon. YouTube on YouTube if the video quality is high you will consume more data, go to Settings General and Play HD on WI-FI only. 7
Security Security make sure to install all security measures on your device such as password on your SIM and device and location tracking apps e.g. find my iphone. Immobilise be sure to register your device on immobilise.co.uk. The Immobilise database is used by the police to track down the owners of recovered property. Lost/stolen devices if your device is either lost or stolen, you must report it to your mobile provider and the police immediately. Data back-up make sure you are using a secure cloud storage system like icloud or Google drive to back up your data. This will ensue that no information is lost. Check app permissions apps often ask you for access to your profile information, location or your camera. If this is not necessary for the app you are using, you need to decide whether you want the app to have access to this personal information. Viruses if you receive email attachments or links from unknown persons you should never open them. 8
Roaming Data To enable turn on Data Roaming To disable turn off Data Roaming, Mobile Data and remove APN Voice mail To access your Airtel-Vodafone voicemail when abroad call: +44 7829 700191 Other network providers will have their own international voicemail number Trouble shooting Follow these easy steps to do a SIM refresh Go to Settings SIM services/sim applications Roaming Manager select Home. Then choose your network manually Often turning your phone off and on again will resolve most issues 9
