CONNECTICUT STATE REFEREE PROGRAM Quick Recertification Overview: Everyone has to recertify for 2018, including those that just became certified for the first time in the spring of 2017, or those that attended an in-service clinic in 2017. Recertification is completed entirely online. Log into the e-referee system on the left hand side of www.ctreferee.net Click on Incomplete in the first box 2018 Entry Level and Recertification Status Summary Register and pay for recertification you may only register for one event or clinic at a time Get the message your transaction was successful click on the link go back to detail Complete the chart by clicking on next step You only get 2 opportunities to pass the 50 question test. Review your test once you have taken it. There have been many changes to the laws of the game, the memorandum will teach you these changes. You will be able to review the memorandum as many times as needed. You may want to save the document to your computer. You only have two opportunities to pass the 50 question test. There is no excuse to fail, the test is unlimited time and open book. You may save your answers and go back to the test at any time before the deadline. If you do fail in the first attempt it is highly recommended you not try again the same day. Review the questions you got wrong before your second attempt. There are NO refunds. If you fail recertification and wish to officiate you will need to retake and pay for the entry level referee program. Once you pass, your 2018 badge and pocket guide will be automatically mailed to you by the Connecticut State Referee Program. The federation no longer provides law books and will not send you an ID card. You should receive both within 2 months.
Detailed Recertification Information for the officiating year 2018: The Recertification Process will be completed 100% online. Recertification is Windows/PC based and Internet Explorer and Firefox are the preferred browsers; you may experience error messages or malfunctions with other browsers. Firefox is the recommended browser for MAC users (be aware there still may be some instances where MAC users may experience compatibility problems when using ereferee applications). 1. Go to the website https://www.ctreferee.net/referee_login/ 2. Login using your Username and Password: 3. If you do not remember your login information please use the Get ID or Password link as shown on the sample screen; input the email address on your profile and click on submit. Your user name and password will be emailed to you.
4. You will receive an email similar to the sample shown below with account details and your login information unless your email provider Spam Rules flags it as Spam and is deleted. (Note: Please be aware that email providers such as AOL, Comcast and Hotmail have very sensitive spam filters and frequently completely drop/delete our confirmation emails entirely or put into the spam folder. Gmail has very permissive spam filter rules. If you want to be sure that you receive our emails use a Gmail email address in your profile; you can configure Gmail to redirect/forward your emails to any other email provider. The choice is yours.) Once logged in you may change your user name and password by clicking on Update Personal Information in the Account Utilities box. 5. Once your login is successful, on the Referee Account page click on the In-complete link under the Recertification Status Summary and proceed to the Detail Recertification page. That will bring you to the following page. Click on Next Step in the referee recertification box.
If you are a grade 7 referee, (referees that have upgrade from grade 8 to 7) and officiate in the adult leagues, you will be asked if you wish to voluntarily downgrade to grade 8 or stay at grade 7. You must officiate in a total of at least 4 adult matches in any capacity before 12/31/17 to successfully maintain your grade 7 new adult game requirement. The same rules apply to grade 5 and 6 referees. 6. Clicking on next step next to register will bring you to the payment screen, under select event type choose clinics and courses, then choose the appropriate referee recertification from the list. Once you choose clinics and courses the following screen will be displayed:
7. All payments will be made by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). Complete your payment for Recertification by selecting a clinic appropriate to your referee grade. At this time only referee recertification is open. (Assignor, instructor and assessor will open shortly). 8. On the Detail Recertification page select the Next Step link opposite a task, complete the task and you will advance to the next task where you will again select the Next Step link continue in this manner until all requirements have been completed. 9. Background Check Referees under 19 years of age will not see Background Check in their Detail Recertification page. Referees 19 years of age and older will have to complete the Background Check if they want to officiate any CJSA or CSSA sponsored competitions. Be sure to highlight Referee from the list Select Your Organization as you complete the Background Check process. If your Background check is current you will not have to complete this part of the process.
The Background Check is not cleared immediately. You may have to wait up to 5 business days for it to be processed before you can resume recertification. If your background check does not clear in 7 days go the following link: http://www.cjsa.org/resource_center/cjsa_background_check/ to complete the entire background check again. 10. Proceed to the Memorandum Read the Memorandum Take the Memorandum Test (this requires a 100% score to pass to the next section. You will have unlimited time and opportunities to pass). Each time you answer a question, your answers are automatically saved by the system. If you time out, you can re-log in to answer the remaining questions. 11. Proceed to the Online Course read the online courses and take the online course quiz. 12. Proceed to Recertification Online Test step 50 question USSF Recertification Test this is an open book test to be completed by the November 30th closing date. You will see one test question on the screen. You will need to select an answer before you can go the next question by clicking on the Next button or clicking the number of the next question on top. If you are not sure of the answer to the question you can mark the question below as Mark of Review which will highlight the number in yellow. The color code answer scheme is at the top of the page. If your session times out you will not lose any answers other than the current one. Once you answer all 50 questions and your test grid turns green you need to click on the Save button in order to enable the Grade button (the Grade button must be selectable to check your answers to see if you have successfully completed your Recertification). 13. You will need to score 80% or higher to successfully pass and complete your Recertification process. You will be allowed two (2) attempts on the 50 question USSF test to complete the Recertification Process. You should then review your test. Click on the link at the top of the page, e-referee system utilities.
The third box is a review of your test. Click on the link to see every question you answered incorrectly and what the correct answer is. Reviewing your Recertification Test questions is a great study aid for those that did not pass the test on their first attempt or a self-improvement tool for those that passed the test. Make sure you take the time to review the questions you answered incorrectly and understand the correct answers before you proceed to take your second opportunity at the Recertification Test for 2018. There are no refunds of recertification fees. Referees who do not successfully pass the on-line USSF Recertification Test in two (2) attempts will have to take the ENTRY LEVEL CLINIC in its entirety (including payment and in person session) in order to officiate in 2018 You must contact the CSRP office to enable registration in the Entry Level course. After successful completion of the on-line recertification process you will automatically receive a Pocket Guide and USSF Badge from the CSRP Office (up to two months after passing the on-line process). Your Detail Recertification page will confirm your Recertification status as complete. 14. Other information (quick facts) about this year s Recertification: Take advantage of the Referee Recertification discount by recertifying early!!! (See table on the next page). All Referee Grades will have (2) opportunities to pass the Recertification Test. If a referee was last certified for 2013, but has not recertified for 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017, they may recertify for 2018. If they pass the Recertification Test, they cannot officiate until January 1, 2018.
Registration Profiles for Referee Grades 7, 6, 5, Emeritus (15 & 13), Assignor, Assessor and Instructor may have other Recertification requirements, but will recertify in a similar manner through the online ereferee System. To pass the USSF Recertification Test All Referee Grades (8, 7, 6, 5, 13 or 15) must score 80% or higher.
