APPLICATIONS Part of the payload supply system for small and medium satellites (data handling module) Instrument control computer (ICU) General purpose Analog I/O module for space. DESCRIPTION OHB System AG s radiation tolerant Analog I/O Module has been developed as a part of Payload Supply System (PSS) modular architectures for small and medium satellites. The Analog I/O Module consists of: Measurement of analog differential signals external and internal Excitation of the PT1000 and AD590 temperature sensors Measurement of analog differential HK signals of the PSS power modules and the appropriate signal conditioning Performance of self-calibration routines. Two 16-Bit ADCs are used on the analog module for redundancy. The measured analog data is available on two SPI busses on the connected CPU modules. The Analog I/O Module has been successfully operated as a part of the PSS of the TET-1 Satellite mission, launched in 2012. APPLICATION NOTES OHB SYSTEM AG s Radiation Tolerant analog I/O Module has been successfully used in the on-orbitverification satellite TET-1. The TET-1 mission is a German program funded by the German Space Agency (DLR). The goal of the small satellite TET (120 kg mass and 880x670x580 mm 3 ) is support to the German industry and research institutes with the On-Orbit-Verification (OOV) of new innovative satellite technologies. In total, eleven payloads were accommodated on the satellite. TET-1 was launched in summer 2012. OHB SYSTEM AG was the prime contractor for the phase C/D. The TET-2 mission is already planned. Measurement and excitation of the PT1000 temperature sensors of the payloads and the appropriate signal conditioning. Measurement and excitation of the AD590 temperature sensors of the payloads and the appropriate signal conditioning. Measurement of analog differential HK signals of the PSS power modules and the appropriate signal conditioning. Multiplexing of the analog measurement signals, analog to digital conversion, and digital data transmission to the CPU upon request. Performance of self-calibration routines. The TET satellite consists of three basic elements: satellite bus, payloads, and payload supply system (PSS). The PSS separates the bus from the different payloads. The PSS is an advanced data and power system for small low earth orbit satellites. The Analog I/O module is part of the PSS architecture. The analog I/O module has the following functions: Measurement of analog differential signals of the payloads and the appropriate signal conditioning. The Analog I/O Module contains two 12-Bit ADconverter with SPI bus control for each converter for redundant use. The Analog I/O Module contains two multiplexers to interface to the HK-values of the DC/DC modules KM6788 and the power distribution modules KM6790 either on the primary and the secondary power side. The Analog I/O module contains also two times 5 HKtemperature inputs for housekeeping on the KM67xx family modules. Sensors used are the AD590 type. ARQUIMEA DEUTSCHLAND GmbH www.arquimea.com 3
