Day-by-Day Breakdown Day 1 of Liferay Fundamentals lays the groundwork for understanding key concepts of the Liferay Platform. Your instructor will introduce Liferay DXP and its main components, then give an overview of the business use case that informs the entire course. You will explore three major topics on the first day: User Management, Access Control, and Site Management. After installing an Enterprise Edition Bundle of Liferay DXP and going through initial setup, you ll be ready for the first topic, User Management. User Management involves first understanding the Liferay User. When you ve mastered how the User fits into and interacts with the larger world of the platform, you ll learn how to reflect your business structure and organize your users into efficient groups. Access Control, the second major topic of Day 1, comes next. You ll discover the answer to the question: How do I grant users access to areas I want them to have access to, and how do I deny users access? You ll see how this happens in Liferay s fine-grained permission system. 2
Day 1 wraps up with Site Management. You ll learn what a Liferay Site is, how to create one, and how to build a consistent front page for a website. By the end of the day, you ll also know the difference between public and private pages and when to use them. Day 2 builds on the foundations of Day 1, taking everything you ve done so far in the course and putting it more and more in context of your real business needs. Day 2 s three major topics are: Content Management, Collaboration, and Publishing. Content Management covers the basics: how you can organize content with tools like folders and how to upload content like audio or video. You ll learn how to manage who can upload and access content as well. Next up, Collaboration, goes over available Liferay tools for working together and how they facilitate projects and encourage communication between teams. Collaboration also includes how to get user feedback. The last major topic of Day 2 and of the course, Publishing, involves workflow and staging. You ll be able to set up a business workflow for reviewing and approving or rejecting important content. Finally, you ll find out about the two kinds of staging and their benefits and drawbacks, using page versions, and how to schedule publishing. Liferay Training: Education. For Life.
