0. Prerequisite 1. A Vehicle equipped with the system Carminat TomTom (this service is strictly not recommended for the system Carminat TomTom Live, because it would interfere with the dangerous zone management included in the Live services) 2. Eject the SD- card with the map, for that enter the menu of Carminat TomTom and select the item to extract the SD-card. 3. This manual requires to have a PDF reader installed 4. Your computer needs to be connected to a SD-card reader compliant with TomTom Carminat. 2
1. Install the files on the SD-card The installation pack contains the following files : - For the beginning of the zone (DebutZoneDanger) : the POIs (.OV2), the icon for the map (.BMP) and the sound (.OGG) - For the reminder inside the zone (RappelZoneDanger) : the POIs (.OV2), the icon for the map (.BMP) and the sound (.OGG) - For the end of the zone 300m (FinZoneDanger300m) : the POIs (.OV2), the icon for the map (.BMP) and the sound (.OGG) - For the end of the zone 2km (FinZoneDanger2km) : the POIs (.OV2), the icon for the map (.BMP) and the sound (.OGG) - For the end of the zone 4km (FinZoneDanger4km) : the POIs (.OV2), the icon for the map (.BMP) and the sound (.OGG) ) Insert the SD-card inside the SD-card reader and log to your account on TomTom Home : You can select directly here your package Or you may go through the menu of TomTom Home 3

Check also if you had any data for speed-traps pre-existing on your SD-card, if so remove it, otherwise it may have side effects with the dangerous POI management. 5
The following explanations are intended to set the visual and sound warnings when approaching the dangerous zone, and also within the zone 2. Paramétrage du système de navigation Click on the map. Go to : Change preference Go to the menu ««Manage POIs» / «Warn when near POI 6
You will have a page listing all POI categories You can then parameter any POI category when the alert wished. Example of setting for the beginning of the zone : Select in the list the category: And take the following steps: - Select the distance for the pre-alert : 200 yards recommended - Confirm the sound proposed by default - Check the box «POI is on the route» Then, the alert will be triggered only in guidance mode and in the case where the route is getting through the POI (get to its vicinity) 7
Settings for the other POI for dangerous zone For FinZoneDanger300m, apply settings : - Pre-alerte : 328 yards (or 300m) - Sound : YES by defaut - POI on troute : YES For FinZoneDanger2km, apply settings : The same procedure would apply as for the POI DebutZoneDanger described above. Please select the right POI category : - Pre-alerte : 2187 yards (or 2000m) - Sound : YES by defaut - POI on troute : YES For FinZoneDanger4km, apply settings : - Pre-alerte : 4374 yards (or 4000m) - Sound : YES by defaut - POI on troute : YES Please note that if you use the system mostly in non guidance mode, it is recommended to set the alert POI RappelZoneDanger active (250 yards) with POI on the route not checked. Exemple user experience for a dangerous zone : The visual alert (in the upper left corner) and the the sentence «Attention zone de danger!», warns you when approaching the dangerous zone. This alert will let you better anticipate. When approaching the dangerous zone (40m) : Once you pass the icon on the map, you will simultaneously hear a Beep, please be careful because you are inside a dangerous zone. 8
Then, while you are driving inside the dangerous zone, the icon in the left corner let you know the remaining distance before exiting the zone : You are close to the exit of the zone (140m) : at 140m exit of the zone. Dangerous zone have predefined length of 300m in cities, 2km on routes outside suburban areas, 4km on highways outside suburban areas After the exit of the zone : In the case of 2km or 4 km zones, reminders are on the map between the beginning and the end of the zone. Special case with dangerous zone in the other way : When the zone is in the opposite direction, you are not affected by the zone, even though you get the sound warnings (in reverse order). Several elements can help you to identify zones that are on the opposite direction : Zone in the opposite direction. - The POI icon appears on the left side of the road (instead of being located on the right) - The POI icon for the exit of the zone is met before the POI icon for the entry in the zone (instead of Start POI then Exit POI) - The beep sound is occurring much earlier than the sentence «Attention zone de 9
danger» (instead of : Beep occurring, then several seconds later the sentence «Attention zone de danger») Complex case with 2 zones overlapping in both direction: It may happen that 2 zones coincide in both directions : in the example beside, the car has just entered a dangerous zone (3,8 km still to go), and there is a zone in the other direction another dangerous (entry point just a few meter apart). The reminder icon at horizon is showing the follow up of the zone (right side of the road = in car direction) Zones in both directions : Note that this kind of complex situation takes some time to be learned and correctly identified. 10
