Introduction This guide explains the necessary steps for configuring the following features with SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification (TREX): Duplicate checks You can implement a check that identifies potentially duplicate accounts or contacts (in create and edit mode) and notifies the user. The user can decide whether the new account or contact is required or is in fact a duplicate of an existing account or contact. Duplicates can be discarded or merged with the existing account or contact. You can activate the duplicate check for both accounts and contacts or for each separately. Fuzzy search You can activate a fuzzy search for accounts and contacts to provide search results when a user does not know the precise search string. When fuzzy search is activated, the user can choose between the options Regular Search and Fuzzy Search in the search screens. Duplicate checks and fuzzy search are executed in the SAP CRM system. Prerequisite You require TREX 7.10.39 or above.
Settings in Customizing 1. SAP CRM Customizing: SAP NetWeaver Application Server Basis Services Address Management Duplicate Check Activate Duplicate Check and Determine Limit for BAPIs a. Activate the index pools BUT000 (for accounts) and/or BUT052 (for contacts) by selecting the checkbox Index active. b. Specify the similarity percentage for the fuzzy search in the field Threshold BAPIs. We recommend that you test increasing similarity percentages until the search produces an appropriate set of results. Note: The similarity percentage that you set applies to both the duplicate check and fuzzy search.

The product is supported under SAP maintenance terms. The search attributes that can be used are the same as for other implementations of the BAdI ADDRESS_SEARCH.
Note: If you want to implement duplicate checks or fuzzy search for contacts, SAP Note 1692370 (to which this document is attached) explains how to add the object type BUT052, after which it is displayed in the above screen. The following screens show the settings for accounts (object type BUT000).
