APPLICATION GUIDE FUNCTIOL TESTING APPLICATION GUIDE: Gas Pedal Tester Gas Pedal Tester T6 OVERVIEW This sigpod Gas Pedal application was designed to verify the operation of automotive pedal assemblies. The electrical and mechanical performance of the gas pedal is crucial to the safe and proper operation of a vehicle. This application will allow you to capture a broad range of defects ensuring quality pedal assemblies, including: Stuck pedal Faulty position sensor Broken idle switch Please note the configuration is intended as a starting point and may require modifications to meet your specific requirements. Installing the template You can install the template using the System Shell interface. See the last page of this guide for complete installation instructions. Requirements The Gas Pedal template is compatible with version 4.0 of sigpod PSV or higher. It can be used on any sigpod with a minimum of four available analog channels.
SETUP Each base test configuration is set up with a sampling rate of 000 Hz and maximum duration of 0 seconds. Start and End triggers are also specified to automatically start and stop data collection when pedal movement is detected. The movement can be applied manually or with automated equipment. These parameters should be tailored to each specific implementation to ensure the process is fully characterized. SENSORS The application is configured to monitor force, pedal position, idle and off-idle signals. The assigned analog input channels are 00:, 0:, 0: and 0:OFF-. TRAVEL (Analog Input 00) is connected to the analog pedal position sensor. FORCE (Analog Input 0) can be measured with a load cell that monitors the pedal pressure during testing. Idle (Analog Input 0) is connected to the idle position switch (positive logic). OFF- Off-Idle (Analog Input 0) is connected to the idle position switch (negative logic). SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM
APPLICATION CONFIGURATION This Gas Pedal application comes configured with a single operation: Push. For information about adding operations, refer to the sigpod PSV User Guide. Within Push, the following waveforms and features are configured: WAVEFORM DEFINITIONS WAVEFORM Y-INPUT X-INPUT WAVEFORM PROCESSING DESCRIPTION OFF- Idle Off-Idle The pedal position signal. The force applied to move the pedal. The idle ON signal. The idle OFF signal (NOT idle). Before The idle position switch is measured at the idle position. Short circuit. During The idle position switch is measured during pedal movement. Faulty idle position switch, stuck pedal, broken After The idle position switch is measured at the idle position. Short circuit, stuck pedal. OFF- Before The off-idle signal is measured at the idle position. Faulty idle position switch, short circuit, faulty power supply. During The off-idle signal is measured during pedal movement. Faulty idle position switch, stuck pedal. After Min Value The off-idle signal is measured at the idle position. Improper testing speed, stuck pedal, faulty idle position switch, broken wire.

From the Location drop-down list, select one of the following: X:\[Removable] if the template file is on a USB flash drive <Network Places> if the template file is on a network drive 4. Click the button next to the Location drop-down list. 5. In the Open dialog box, navigate to the template file (.SBK) to be installed. 6. Select the template filename, and click Open. The template filename and properties are displayed in the Install dialog box. 7. In the Install column, Component area, ensure the Calibration, Configuration, and Application Data check boxes are selected. 8. Click OK. 9. To start the installed template, click Run on the System Shell toolbar. For more information about installing application backup files, including template files, see the InspeXion System Shell User Guide. (To access, click Install on the System Shell toolbar, and then click Help in the Install dialog box). About sigpod Application Templates sigpod is a uniquely versatile platform that can be used for different applications across the production line. A sigpod template serves as a starting point for configuration of the unit for a particular manufacturing test or monitoring requirement. Additional manual configuration will usually be required to fit to a test environment s specific circumstance. Please consult the sigpod PSV user guide to learn more about how to configure the software. If you have suggestions on other templates or would like to share your own, contact us. If you require a customized application to meet your specific needs, our Manufacturing Intelligence Team can develop one for you.
