Nice Micro Services explanation with samples in Java By Binildas This book by Rajesh is excellent - from a coverage as well as working examples perspective. The author has done justice in putting the introductory as well as some detailed aspects of what has been promised in the front cover - "Spring, Docker & Mesos" - both for a new comer to the field as well as to an experienced software enthusiast who would like to get more in-depth knowledge of the "Micro services in Java with examples".
I have covered more than 3/4th of the contents of this book while I write this review. I have been also trying out the samples at selected reading baselines. The samples are straight forward and working properly. Further, the best part of this book is the narration provided by the author in selecting between trade-offs in finalising the Architecture of a fictitious Airline Passenger Service System (PSS). It is not common to find such kind of a "thought process explained as text in a book", which is a USP for this book. In fact, such discussion we use to have when we sit across tables with Technical Architects or CTOs of our customers, but to have such an experience through a book like this, that too with some of these aspects demonstrated with code is a nice experience any reader would like to have. One aspect where the author could have made an improvement is in the build up of the samples As-Is explained in the descriptive part of the text. What I mean is, while the author succeeded in introducing and discussing the concerns one by one, when it comes to the code samples multiple such concerns are addressed in a single go in the code. However, that is not a major issue since the ultimate aim of any reader is to understand the solution approaches for all such concerns, whether it is experienced one by one or many in one go. Overall I would give top rating for this book also realising the fact that there are not too many books explaining the concepts of Micro services or The Twelve-Factor App principles with specific code samples also, today. 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Practical guide with can-do attitude By A. H. de Jonge What I like about Rajesh RV s book on Spring Microservices is its optimistic tone and can-do attitude. The book strikes just the right balance between underlying theory and practical application. It starts with coverage of the core concepts. Even if you are already familiar with Microservices, you ll still find eyeopeners in here. Next, the book provides you with practical pointers on how to get started coding your Microservies. It provides the necessary precautions and pre-requisites for getting your architecture right. It illustrates the ideas with case studies based on situations you will encounter in a typical enterprise environment. Finally, it helps you set up the right tooling to be able to manage your Microservices throughout the release cycle and running them in production. If you are a Java developer looking for a very practical approach to get started with Microservices, then this book is for you! See all 4 customer reviews...
