August 2016 CCMGA Newsletter Mark Your Calendars! August 23rd CCMGA Meeting - Program: Rain Gardens September 7th Lunch & Learn -The Art of Bonsai, Rhona Watson Armory Arts Learning Center, Noon to 1:00 President's Message Greetings, Thank the Lord for a little rain and some relief to the hot, humid weather. It made for a lovely day Saturday as several master gardeners attended the dedication of the Garden Square by Frazer Church and their Transformation Montgomery program. The facility is lovely! The children were there and provided us some lovely fun music! All of the volunteers did a great job renovating the interior. Suzanne Reaves and her team did a wonderful job with the exterior landscaping! The butterfly garden was host to several happy butterflies as we entered the building.

This month s program on Rain Gardens (not rain barrels) will be presented by Ashley Henderson. Sounds like it will be a very interesting presentation! Hope to see you there. Let s hope next week continues some of the cooler and less humid weather so that we can more comfortably work in our gardens and yards. See you on the 23rd! Warm Regards, Margaret Transformation Montgomery Dedication Saturday, August 13th

August CCMGA Meeting Program: Rain Gardens presented by Ashley Henderson Have a low spot in your yard that collects water or is soggy? Ashley is going to tell us how to turn those types of areas into beautiful and functional rain gardens. July CCMGA Meeting Program: Tia Gonzalez, Medicinal Plants

July Lunch & Learn - Garden Art by Elaine Barron

A note from Earline Clark For the past month and a half I've been under the doctor care. This is the second time that I've had a knee replacement for my left knee. After leaving the hospital, I went straight to Rehab Select. After arriving home, I had to do an additional four weeks of physical therapy. Erica, my daughter has not been able to attend any Master Gardener meetings due to her busy schedule at the shop and assisting me during my recovery. Please share this information with our fellow gardeners so that they will be aware of how much we have been missing everyone! We look forward to seeing you all soon! Sincerely, Earline Prime Magazine Gardening Articles Thank you to Susan Enzweiler, an intern in the 2016 class for her article for September, entitled Container Hillbilly Gardening. To read her article (after September 1st) and also previous gardening articles written by CCMGA members in Prime Magazine, go to: http://primemontgomery.com/ If you are interested in writing an article, please email Mary Jane McCracken at: mjmccracken@knology.net. We have enough articles for the rest of this year but are in need of articles for 2017. Please consider submitting an article on your favorite plant, garden topic or memorable gardening experience.
