LogicLinx 32-bit Editor Product Bulletin The LogicLinx 32-bit editor: Can be used on all Windows operating systems including 64-bit versions Does not require SGConfig to be run in elevated mode (i.e., run As Administrator) Can compile all programs supported by the LogicLinx 16-bit editor except for the following program types which cannot be created or modified: Instruction language (IL) Function chart (FC) Sequential function chart (SFC). Support for creating and modifying sequential function chart (SFC) programs will be added in a future release. Can create and modify programs that can be opened and modified by the 16-bit editor provided these programs do not exceed the limitations of the 16-bit editor LogicLinx 32-bit editor prerequisites LogicLinx 32-bit editor is based on Visual Studio 2010 and requires the installer prerequisites associated with this technology; these prerequisites are approximately 2.5 GB in size. If it is not practical to download these prerequisites from the GE Grid Solutions website (due to the download time and/or bandwidth constraints) and you only wish to install the LogicLinx 32-bit editor on a few (for example, less than five) computers, you can perform a web-based install of SGConfig, select a Custom Install type and select the LogicLinx 32-bit editor. If you prefer not to download these prerequisites and/or need to install the LogicLinx 32-bit editor on many (for example, five or more) computers, GE Grid Solutions recommends that you order the LogicLinx 3.0 DVD; this DVD contains the LogicLinx 32-bit editor prerequisites. You can either: Insert the DVD into your DVD drive when prompted by the SGConfig installer or Copy the DVD contents to a folder on a network share and browse to this folder when prompted by the SGConfig installer. Evaluation license The LogicLinx 32-bit editor is delivered with a 60-day evaluation license. There is a difference between the evaluation license start dates for the LogicLinx 16-bit editor and the LogicLinx 32-bit editor. The LogicLinx editor evaluation license starts: Immediately when the LogicLinx 16-bit editor is installed, and is available for a 30-day period. The first time the LogicLinx 32-bit editor is launched, and is available for a 60-day period. That is, the evaluation period does not start when the LogicLinx 32-bit editor is installed. After the evaluation license expires, you are not able to use the LogicLinx 32-bit editor. To resume use of the LogicLinx 32- bit Editor, you will need to purchase a Software license or a USB dongle. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Are configurations created in ConfigPro and earlier versions of SGConfig compatible with SGConfig v9.0? A: Existing configurations created using any version of ConfigPro, and earlier versions of SGConfig can be converted to SGConfig v9.0 format. Configurations created in SGConfig cannot be used in ConfigPro. Configurations created in SGConfig 9.0 cannot be used in versions of SGConfig earlier than 9.0. Q: Where are the Application Definitions stored in SGConfig? A: Application definitions are stored in the SGConfig database. SGConfig is provided with a complete set of the application definitions for all applications including latest versions as of the date of the release of the SGConfig Software. New applications and enhancements for existing applications are continuously being developed. Please visit GE Grid Automation technical support website for information on product updates. New application definitions can be imported using the Migration Wizard. Q: Are configurations stored in a single default directory, as they are in ConfigPro? A: One of the main differences between the legacy ConfigPro Setup software and SGConfig is the internal architecture of the product. ConfigPro is based on a file system for archival of configuration data. In order to enable long term product sustainability and expandability of the SGConfig software, the architecture of the setup software was re-designed to operate using a database architecture for data management. Configurations in SGConfig are stored inside of the repository of the SQL Database and a single external file. Q: Can a configuration built in SGConfig v9.0 be used in earlier versions of SGConfig? A: No. The design of SGConfig v9.x is slightly different from that of previous versions of SGConfig. While configurations built in earlier versions of SGConfig can be restored in SGConfig v9.0, configurations built in SGConfig v9.0 cannot be restored in versions of SGConfig earlier than 9.0. For example: Configurations built in SGConfig v9.0 cannot be used in SGConfig v8.5 and lower. However, configurations built in earlier versions of SGConfig can be used in SGConfig v9.0.
