C O N T R O L L E R I N F O R M A T I O N S H E E T Maple Model(s) HMI5000 Series HMI5000P Series PLC or Controller Siemens S7-300 Series (Ethernet) Summary Maple Systems HMI5000 Series Human/Machine Interface Terminals (Maple HMIs) communicate with Siemens S7-300 Series PLCs using the PPI Ethernet protocol. When configured with EZware-5000, the Maple HMI is the master. Compatible PLCs Family S7-300 Series Model CPU 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, CP 343 Ethernet Module ET-200S Communications Cable A list of communications cables offered by Maple Systems as well as cable assembly instructions to assist you in assembling your own communications cable are available on our website at www.maplesystems.com. WARNING If your communications cable is not wired exactly as shown in our cable assembly instructions, damage to the HMI or loss of communications can result. PLC Settings The IP Address must be set. Accessible PLC Memory Register Memory The following table lists the PLC s register memory ranges that the Maple HMIs are able to access. Please note that your PLC s memory range may be smaller or larger than that supported by these HMIs. The following register memory can be displayed in 16 or 32 bit format on the Maple HMI. (Note: d=decimal, f = file, o = octal) PLC Register Type Address Range Format PLC Register Description IW 0 to 4095 dddd Input Words (1) QW 0 to 4095 dddd Output Words (0) MW 0 to 4095 dddd Memory Word MD 0 to 4094 dddd Memory Double Word MB 0 to 4095 dddd Memory Byte DBBn 0 to 40969999 ffffdddd Data Register Byte DBn 0 to 40969999 ffffdddd DBDn 0 to 40969999 ffffdddd DBn_String 0 to 40969999 ffffdddd DBDn_String 0 to 40969999 ffffdddd DB0-DB99 0 to 655327 dddddo Data Register (Must be even) Data Register Double Word (Must be multiple of 4) Data Register String (Must be even) Data Register Double Word String (Must be multiple of 4) Data Register Words (Must be even) Discrete Memory The following table lists the PLC s discrete memory ranges that the Maple HMIs are able to access. Please note that your PLC s memory range may be smaller or larger than that supported by these HMIs. The following discrete memory is displayable in single-bit format on the Maple HMI. Memory Not Supported The following PLC memory areas are not currently supported by the Maple HMIs: T (Timers) C (Counters) H (High Speed Counters) AI (Analog Inputs) SM (Special Memory) S (Status Memory) Important Memory Considerations If your PLC s memory range is smaller than the range supported by the Maple HMIs, it is possible to configure the HMI to monitor a PLC memory address which does not exist. Since this can cause unpredictable results, when you configure the HMI please ensure that all selected PLC memory addresses are valid for your PLC model. Do not configure the HMI to write to any PLC memory address which should only be written to by the PLC. Importing Tags Siemens STEP 7 programming software allows building files of user-defined tags (*.dif and *.AWL) and importing them into EasyBuilder-5000/EZwarePro using the Import Tag button in the System Parameter Settings > Device tab. Building a *.dif File 1. In STEP 7, create user-defined tags in the Symbol Editor (S7 Program > Symbols). 2. Under Symbol Table, click Export to export the *.dif file, specify the file name, then click Save. Building a *.AWL File 1. In the Blocks folder, create DB items as shown below. 2. Open LAD, STL, FBD Programming S7 Blocks. Click File > Generate Source. 3. Select Sources as the storage path, specify the Object name, then click OK. 4. Select the objects to be exported, then click OK. 5. The names of the saved files will be saved in the Sources folder. Select Export Source to build the *.AWL file. 6. The generated *.dif and *.AWL files can be imported into EasyBuilder- 5000/EZwarePlus by clicking the Import Tag button in the System Parameters Settings. 7. When completed, the Import tag successful notification appears. Notes: The Tag Import function is available in EasyBuilder-5000 v4.60 and later, and in EZwarePlus v1.10 and later. EZware Settings The following table lists the communications settings that must be configured in EZware. These settings can be found in the Edit-Set System Parameters menu under the Device tab. Please note: The Recommended Settings column provides the recommended setting based upon the default settings most commonly used in the Siemens S7-300 PLC. The Options column lists EZware s options; your PLC may not support every option Name Name: HMI or PLC Recommended Settings Options Important Notes Siemens S7-300 (Ethernet) Description of Comm Port PLC Location Local Local, Remote Select local if PLC directly connected to HMI, remote if connected thru another HMI PLC type: Siemens S7-300 (Ethernet) PLC I/F: Ethernet Must match the controller port setting.
