about MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK about MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK desktop application is a services platform for Motorola s new generation of smart phones. In order to generate a great experience from the first time you launch the application, MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK provides various wizard-based utilities for you to deal with the essentials such as import of various types of contents - including your itunes or Windows Media Player libraries - and also setup parameters to take advantage of the automated features MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK provides. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK automatically downsizes DVD videos to clips that need only a fraction of the storage space, to a video resolution that is dedicated to viewing on a handset and also transcodes them to a format your handset supports. You do not need to worry about file format, codecs and video resolution. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK even helps you to send videos to the Web and share your media with everyone on the Internet. installing MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK installing MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK An installation wizard will walk you through the quick and uncomplicated installation process. To install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK you must have administrator rights for all operating systems newer than Windows XP. note If Microsoft NET Framework 3,5 is not available on your PC already, the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK installer will install it automatically. To install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK, proceed as follows: 1. Close all Microsoft Windows programs and exit any antivirus software that may be running. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK can be installed from a downloaded executable file, autorun CD or from a device connected to the PC. 2. Start the installation process by double-clicking the installation file. 1. If you are going to install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK for the first time, the Choose setup language window is opened and asks you to select the desired setup language from the displayed drop-down menu. 2. Click the OK button. The files are automatically unzipped and stored on the C drive in a temporary folder from which they are automatically deleted once they have been used. The installation is prepared and the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK - InstallShield Wizard window is opened. Installation Welcome screen 3. Click the Next button. Enter your serial number into the input field, if it is not displayed there already. note The serial number can be found on the back of the disc jacket. If you are using a download version you will have received the serial number per e-mail. 5. Click the Next button. The Licence Agreement screen is displayed. Installation is not possible without this agreement. 7. Click the Next button. The Customer Information screen is displayed. Installation - Customer Information 8. Enter your name in the input field. Corporate customers should also include their company's name. 9. Click the Next button. The Setup Type screen is displayed. installing MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK 10. Enter the desired installation type and click the Next button. If you selected Complete, the Ready to Install the Program screen is displayed. If you selected Custom, the Custom Setup screen is displayed and shows both the application components that will be installed, and the default store path. 11. If you want to change the store path of the application: 1. Click the Change button. The Change Current Destination Folder screen is displayed. 2. Select the desired drive from the Look in drop-down menu. 3. Complete the store path as desired in the Folder name input field. 4. Click the OK button. A final window is opened when the InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. Installation InstallShield Wizard Completed 13. setting up MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK setting up MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK The MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK s setup procedure covers two wizards that are opened automatically one by one: Profile wizard You will be guided to configure a profile for your mobile device that specifies the connection settings. Once the profile is created, MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK will automatically detect the corresponding mobile device and load the related connection settings. Registration wizard You can register your application and/or your mobile device and decide whether you want to get product information and special offers from Motorola and/or Nero. profile wizard At the first launch of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK, the profile wizard is opened automatically if a mobile device is already connected to your PC. It will guide you to configure a profile for your mobile device that specifies the connection settings. Whenever you later connect a device that already has a profile in MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK, it is connected without any further input of yours using the settings defined in its profile. Proceed as follows: 1. Make sure that MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is closed. 2. Connect the desired mobile device via USB cable directly to the USB port of your PC (no hub or docking station in-between). 3. Double-click the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK desktop icon. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is opened and its Home screen is displayed. If you open MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK for the first time the Profile Wizard is opened automatically displaying its Welcome screen. 12 MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK QuickStart Guide

Select the Create a new profile option button and enter a profile name into the corresponding input field. 6. Click the Next button. The Multimedia Directory Settings screen is displayed. Enter the desired store and sync paths for your photo, video and music files into the corresponding input fields. 8. Click the Next button. The Link Your Music screen is displayed. setting up MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK The Share Your Photos and Videos Online screen is displayed. Here you can define which of your online communities you want to use to share your media files. Please note that you have to be registered already with the online communities you select. Profile Wizard - Share Your Videos and Photos screen 11. Select the check box of the online community you want to use and enter your username and password into the corresponding input fields. 12. Click the Next button. The Profile Wizard is closed now and the specified profile is saved. Registering your application and or mobile device will give you the possibility to receive product information and special offers from Motorola and/or Nero. Proceed as follows: 1. Open MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The Welcome Registration screen is displayed. Registration - Welcome 2. Click the Agree button. setting up MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK 3. Enter your contact information into the corresponding input fields. Complete at least the input fields marked by a *, they are mandatory. 4. Select the Yes option buttons if you want to receive product information from Motorola and/or Nero. 5. Decide whether you want to receive information and offers by SMS from Motorola and click the corresponding option button. 6. Click the Next button. The handset registration screen is displayed asking for additional contact information. Handset registration - Contact information 7. Complete the contact information - at least the input fields marked by a *, they are mandatory. 8. Enter the purchase date of your mobile device 9. Enter your mobile phone number and click the corresponding option button if you want to receive information from Motorola by SMS. 10. main window main window The main window is the starting point for all actions that can be carried out using MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The Home screen is displayed by default when you launch the program. Hover over the logo in the upper left area of the window to display information about the application. A Search feature which allows you to search for media is provided in the upper right area of the window. Depending on which screen is displayed you can directly search for content in the respective screen. The footer shows the status of current transferring and transcoding processes in a Progress display. You can pause or cancel running operations from there - just click the Cancel button. Successfully completed transfers are listed in a Notifications display. Clicking the View button opens a separate Notification Detail window which shows details of the respective transfer. Click the OK button to remove the notification from the display. Main screen The task bar above provides access to the main categories or screens you can work with in MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The selected entry is always highlighted. The following entries are available: Home Photos Music Videos Displays the Home screen that combines the basic functions of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. It displays recently accessed contents and offers you points of entry to your media contents. Displays the Photos screen that enables you to exchange your media between your PC and your mobile phone. Displays the Music screen that enables you to exchange your media between your PC and your mobile phone. main window Store Utilities Settings Help If you want others to enjoy your media files, use MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK as a posting platform for established Web sites such as YouTube for videos. Displays the Store screen that shows the newest Motorola products such as mobile phones, navigation systems and headsets. It also provides direct access to the respective area of Motorola s online store. If a device is connected to MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK the store displays only items that are compatible with the respective device. Displays the Utilities screen that provides various functions: You can check whether an updated version of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is available. If so the update can be downloaded from here. An upgrade from trial to full version is also available.. In addition, you can change the language of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK here and register your handset and/or your MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK application. Displays the Settings screen where you can configure various synchronisation and display options as well as your user information for the publication of your data on the web. Displays the Help screen that provides the online help. The following button is available: Sync Opens the Sync window where you can select the content you want to synchronise now.
