K-Series Editor Owner's Manual Page 1 Introduction The K-Series Editor allows you to edit the parameter settings of your K-Series controller graphically, using a Windows XP or Mac OS X computer. These parameter settings can be saved and recalled (loaded) as scene data on the computer, and then transmitted to (or received from) the K-Series controller itself. Items in the screen [LOAD] button Loads a scene data file that you had previously saved on your computer into the K-Series Editor. [SAVE] button Saves the current settings in the K-Series Editor as a scene data file, using any name you specify. [PREFERENCE] button Opens the PREFERENCE settings dialog box. [RECEIVE] button Receives the scene data from the K-Series controller keyboard into the K-Series Editor.

K-Series Editor Owner's Manual Page 2 [TRANSMIT] button Transmits the current scene data in the K-Series Editor to the K-Series controller keyboard. Setup 1. Start up the K-Series Editor. 2. In the upper right of the window, click the [PREFERENCE] button. A setting dialog box will appear. 3. For "MIDI In" specify the K-Series's KBD/KNOB port, and for "MIDI Out" specify the K-Series's CTRL port. The port names may differ depending on your system. If so, select the MIDI ports that corresponds to the K-Series's KBD/KNOB and CTRL ports. 4. Click [OK] to close the settings dialog box. Saving scene data to your computer Here's how to save the K-Series Controller's current scene data to your computer as a scene data file. Don't operate the K-Series controller keyboard while data is being transmitted or received. If an error message appears while data is being transmitted or received, check the MIDI driver and the connections. 1. In the upper right of the window, click the [RECEIVE] button. The K-Series controller keyboard will transmit data to the K-Series Editor. When transmission is completed, the various controller parameters will appear in the window. 2. In the upper right of the window, click the [SAVE] button. The "Save Scene Data" dialog box will appear. 3. Specify a name and the location in which to save the file, and click the [Save] button. The file will be saved in the location you specify. An extension of ".ksd" will be added to the file name. Loading scene data into the K-Series Here's how to load previously-saved scene data from your computer into the K-Series controller. Don't operate the K-Series controller keyboard while data is being transmitted or received. If an error message appears while data is being transmitted or received, check the MIDI driver and the connections. 1. In the upper right of the window, click the [LOAD] button. The "Load Scene Data" dialog box will appear. 2. Select a file with an extension of ".ksd" and click the [Open] button. The scene data file will be loaded, and the parameter settings for the various controllers will appear in the window. 3. In the upper right of the window, click the [TRANSMIT] button. The scene data will be loaded into the K-Series controller.

K-Series Editor Owner's Manual Page 3 Parameter settings Editing the settings Use the buttons and popup menus etc. in the screen to edit the parameters. For details on each parameter, refer to the owner's manual. If you enter a "-" (minus sign) in a control change number field, that parameter will be set to No Assign. Parameter Assignments ClickPoint Here you can edit the parameters assigned to the ClickPoint. MODE Specifies the operating mode of the ClickPoint. MOUSE Lets you use the ClickPoint as a mouse. CC Lets you assign control changes to the ClickPoint's X and Y axes. X:, Y: These fields specify the control change numbers transmitted when you operate the ClickPoint.

K-Series Editor Owner's Manual Page 4 KNOB1/KNOB2 Here you can edit the parameter assigned to KNOB1 and KNOB2. These fields specify the control change numbers transmitted when you operate KNOB1/KNOB2. Switches [SW1] and [SW2] Here you can edit the parameters assigned to [SW1] and [SW2]. SW MODE Specifies the operating mode of the assignable switches [SW1]/[SW2]. CC Lets you assign control changes to the [SW1] and [SW2]. PROG Lets you use the [SW1] and [SW2] keys to change program numbers.

ON Specifies the value of the control change transmitted when you turn on the switch. On Value [0...127] OFF Specifies the value of the control change transmitted when you turn off the switch. Off Value [0...127] SW1 TYPE/SW2 TYPE Specifies how the switches will behave. MOMENTARY The On Value will be transmitted when you press the switch, and the Off Value will be transmitted when you release it. TOGGLE Each time you press the switch, the On Value and the Off Value will be transmitted alternately. MOD wheel Here you can edit the MOD wheel parameters. MODE Specifies the MIDI message transmitted when you operate the MOD wheel. CC The control change you specify will be transmitted. AFTER TOUCH Channel Aftertouch messages will be transmitted. Specifies the control change number transmitted when you operate the MOD wheel.

K-Series Editor Owner's Manual Page 6 SLIDER Here you can edit the parameter assigned to the SLIDER. Specifies the control change number transmitted when you operate the SLIDER. Pedal Here you can edit the parameters assigned to the pedal jack. Specifies the control change number transmitted when you operate the pedal.

On Value [0...127] OFF Specifies the value of the control change transmitted when you turn off the pedal. Off Value [0...127] SW TYPE Specifies how the pedal will behave. MOMENTARY The On Value will be transmitted when you press the pedal, and the Off Value will be transmitted when you release the pedal. TOGGLE Each time you press the pedal, the On Value and Off Value will be transmitted alternately. Global parameters Here you can edit the global parameters. MIDI CH Specifies the channel on which the K-Series will transmit MIDI messages. MIDI Channel [1...16] TRANSPOSE Specifies the key transposition in semitones. Transpose [-12...12] VELOCITY CURVE Specifies the velocity curve of the keyboard. LIGHT Light STANDARD Standard HEAVY Heavy CONSTANT Fixed velocity value
