Department: IT Reports To: IT Director Classification: Exempt Salary Grade: 9 ($43,201.60-$62,899.20) Summary Under the direction of the IT Director, this position will ensure quality and responsive services through ongoing technical design, planning, implementation, preventative maintenance, assessment, proactive monitoring, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures. The System Administrator will ensure that County s technology investments generate the highest value. They will provide technical guidance and support in concert with the direction and leadership of the IT Director and other designated Managers. The System Administrator will ensure adherence to best practices and proven methodologies to promote continuous information operations and the integration of new value-added technical services and technology. The System Administrator is responsible for a mission critical service requiring stability, reliability, and performance optimization. The individual in this position must have the ability to apply intermediate level of subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common business issues; exercise independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action; and apply technical knowledge to operate and administer infrastructure or software platforms and user groups of moderate through advanced complexity. This individual must also possess knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) reference model and ISO/IEC standards. Responsible for daily operation and administration of domain controllers, file servers, DNS servers, DHCP servers, proxy servers, email servers, print servers, and all other application servers. 4. Assist with configuration, testing and implementation of new server applications. 5. Apply appropriate patches, service packs, application software and updates to the servers. 6. Virtual Networking (Distributed Virtual Switches, VM Kernel Ports) and TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and LDAP. 22. Customizing guest operating system on Virtual Machines. 23. System Administration-Managing Users, Groups, Roles and Access Permissions. 24. Managing Tasks, Events and Alarms, Managing Application stack runs on VMWare, Windows /IIS Webservers, Linux/Unix. 25. Install, configure and manage Microsoft server operating systems (physical and virtual). 26. Manage and maintain Microsoft Active Directory and group policies. 27. Use of security best practice to secure Microsoft, Linux and storage systems in compliance with company standards. 28. Image development and testing. 29. Baseline applications packaging and insertion to image deployment. 30. Management of Operating System and Drivers. 31. Client Operating System Maintenance. 32. Active Directory support and maintenance. 33. Printer support (Windows Front End Printing). 34. Exchange and Office 365 Administration and database management. 35. SharePoint Administration, site and database management. 36. Implementation and management of NetScaler Load balancing. 37. Developing and maintaining XenApp, XenDesktop. 38. Days and hours of work are determined by the IT Director depending upon the needs of the IT Department. Some nights and weekends may be required. Required Education and Experience Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Business, or other technology discipline, or a combination of education and experience that will enable performance of the full scope of the position. Certifications in the following areas or ability to obtain within the first year of hire: MCSE CCNA CCE MCDBA MCPD Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible roles supporting systems in a medium-scale, multi-user, multi-application, multi-server Enterprise environment. Strong Experience with infrastructure environments (e.g. operating system, hardware, data center, security, network, voice, end user and server / web related applications). System Administration experience with Microsoft 2008 R2 & Microsoft 2012 R2 servers (physical & virtual), networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN), and Application Packaging (PowerShell or other scripting tool) is required. Experience and knowledge with packaging technologies (MSI, MST, AppV, and Flexera AdminStudio). Strong experience in scripting for installations. Knowledge and experience with SCCM 2012, Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, Cisco switches, NEC Phone Systems, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Enterprise Wi-Fi Systems, Automation Tools, Backup Solutions, Enterprise Monitoring Solutions, Project Management, Disaster Recovery, CSC, NIST, UNIX, SQL, AD, GPO, DNS, WINS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SANS, NAS, RAID is required for the position. Preferred Education and Experience Experience in a city, county, state, or federal government environment preferred. Experience with business Information Technology applications (e.g. GIS, EMR, EHR, HR, and Finance) preferred.
