VMS Installation Guide [ Application: Base, Rich and Core ] [ Platform : Windows 64 Bit ]
Introduction Video Management Server (VMS) receives the video from the IP-cameras or Encoders, records the video (either motion based or continuous) in the Network Attached Storages or in local hard disks and streams the video to the IVMS Clients for Live View. It receives the PTZ control commands from the Video Surveillance Client application and accordingly issue commands to the cameras. One can connect to the VMS server by logging in with Admin privilege to configure various components (Storage, Cameras, etc) and services (Recording, Events, etc) using Video Surveillance Client application. To get the Video Management Server (VMS) operational, the following software should be installed in that order: Installation of MySQL Server (Community Edition ): CAUTION: Beforee Installation of MySQL DBMS, it is very important to check whether it is already installed in the server or not. Previous version of MySQL must be uninstalled COMPLETELY before installing fresh MySQL DBMS. Please follow the instructions below. Please consult your IT expert for further information on DBMS un-installation procedure. For fresh Installation of MySQL : Please go through the document MySQL on Windows.pdf Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Proper version of Java Runtime Environment is mandatory for server application operation. By default jre will not be installed along with the software. You need to check whether it is installed or not. Like MySQL You need to uninstall existing javaa COMPLETELY from Control Panel > Programs & Features You can check below procedure to do that. To check whether it is already installed, please go to the Command prompt (Start Runcmd ) and type: java version. If java is already installed in the machine, message similar to as shown below figure: Figure 1 Page 2 of 11
CHECK: Java version must be 1.6.0_xx_ or above, where xx will be subversion. However, if Java is not installed, follow the below mentioned steps to install JRE 1.6.0 Installation of JRE 1.6.0 (Required only if Java 1.6.0_xx is not already installed) Double Click on jre-6u45-windows-x64.exe which is located in the folder Prerequisite Server and follow the on-screen instructions. It will install Java in your machine. CHECK: Confirm that Java is properly installed by running the command java version once again. Installation of Video Management Server: Double Click on any one of the below file (depending on the file delivered product) IVMS Rich Server 1.0.0.1 Setup.exe IVMS Core Server 2.0.0.1 Setup.exe [ Core version Only ] Available in the IVMS CD/DVD Media. Please restart the server system after installation has been completed. It will install Video Management Server (VMS) in the machine. At the end of the installation process below window will popup The installation process is now completed. The VMS is now installed in the server hardware in the selected directory (default directory is: C:\IVMSRichServer, C:\IVMSBaseServer or, C:\IVMSCoreServer depending on the distribution of the package). It is installed with Demo license (30 days, with limited capability). After Successful execution of Core VMS following windows will appear. You can change the required parameter. After changing database and other parameter reboot the server. Page 8 of 11
Installation of Media Server [Core Version only] Note: Media Servers are to be installed in different machine where VMS server is not installed. Double Click on the file IVMS Core Media Server 2.0.0.1 Setup.exe is available in the IVMS CD. Follow the on-screen instructions; it will install IVMS Core Media Server in the machine. At the end of the installation process below window will popup The IVMS Core Media Server is now installed in the server hardware in the selected directory (default directory is: C:\ IVMSCoreMediaServer ). After Successful execution of Core Media Server, following windows will appear. You can change the required parameter. Note: If there is one VMS, Please set Same IP in Primary and Auxillary VMS After changing database and other parameter reboot the server. Note: In a site Multiple media server can be installed. It depends on no of camera. It is installed with Demo license (30 days, with limited capability). You can update the package with commercial license any day within 30 days from the date of installation. Here follows the steps to carry out to get the Licensed version of the software. 1. An encrypted key with hardware information has been generated as a file hwinfo.v2a in the folder license located in the installation directory of VMS. Page 9 of 11
2. Please send this file to license@videonetics.com or communicate to the contact person of the vendor to get a valid License key for the software. Please update the existing activation.v2a by the valid activation key which will be sent by Videonetics Team. To take effect of the new activation key, System Reboot required. Installation of Video Analytic Server [ Core Version only ] Double Click on the file IVAS Core Server 2.0.0.1 Setup.exe is available in the IVMS CD/DVD media. Follow the on-screen instructions; it will install IVMS Core Analytic Server in the machine. It is installed with Demo licensee (30 days, with limited capability). You can update the package with commercial license any day within 30 days from the date of installation. Follow the steps to carry out to get the licensed version of the software. 1. Use Videonetics IVMS Client [ Base, Rich and Core ] software to Log in to the system and configure it. The IVMS Client software can be installed in the same machine or at any other machine connected via LAN to the VMS server. The IVMS Client software along with the installation manual comes as part of the delivery package. Note: This IVAS Serverr will be added from the Server Configuration Section in of IVMS Core Client CHECK: Please check Server s Time and TimeZone.
