It is not intended for production deployments. See the Oracle Technology Network Developer License Terms for details: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/licenses/standard-license-152015.html 1.1 Supported Functionality and Intended Use The BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition enables you to explore the features of Oracle BI Mobile App Designer. Using the provided sample data or your own data samples you can: Run the provided sample apps to explore BI Mobile App Designer features Upload your own Excel data to create apps Create apps using sample data provided Preview apps on your PC or mobile device 1.2 Limitations The BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition does not support some functionality that the BI Mobile App Designer 11g production version supports. This includes: The trial edition supports only Excel data sources. The production version also supports BI Subject Areas and BI Publisher data models as data sources. 1

2 Installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition The BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition can be installed on either Windows or Mac. Installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows Installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac 2.1 Installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows To install the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows: 1. Log on to Windows with Administrative privileges. 2. Go to the Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition website. 3. Click the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition 11g for Windows 32-bit or 64-bit link, as appropriate for your system. This begins the download of BIMobileAppDesignerTrialEdition.exe. 4. When the download completes, run or double-click BIMobileAppDesignerTrialEdition.exe. This opens the Installer Wizard. In the Welcome window, click Next. 5. Select the location to install the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition directory. A default location is provided; you can edit the default, or accept it by clicking Next. 6. Enter Password to be used for the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. The username "demo" is preassigned. 2

The password must be at least 8 characters and contain at least one number and one alpha character. Use this password when you log in to BI Mobile App Designer. Retype the password to confirm and then click Next. 7. In the final dialog, click Install to begin the installation. 8. When the install phase completes, a final dialog prompts you to perform the configuration and initial start up of the servers. Click Finish to finalize configuration. During this phase, an Oracle WebLogic Server command window launches to start the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. This window must remain open to use BI Mobile App Designer. 3

9. After the install is complete, WebLogic Server automatically launches and starts up the BI Mobile App Designer. You see the following information in your browser window as the server starts up: 10. When the server starts up, the BI Mobile App Designer Welcome page automatically launches in your web browser. You are now ready to get started! On the Welcome page click the task that you want to accomplish: Create App View Sample Apps Modify an existing app 4

On the sign in page enter the following credentials: Username: demo (preassigned) Password: the password you specified during install The installation process starts the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition servers for you. The next time you need to start BI Mobile App Designer, follow the instructions in Section 3.1, "Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows" to start and stop the application. 2.2 Installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac To install BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac: 1. Go to the Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition website. 2. Click the Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition for Mac. This begins the download of the BIMAD_Trial_osx.zip file. 3. When download completes, unzip the BIMAD_Trial_osx.zip file. All files are extracted under BIMAD_Trial. 5

Note: If you have downloaded the Trial Edition before, ensure that you do not unzip to the same location where the previous version is located; the unzip utility will append a "2" to the end of the file name causing install issues. 4. Open Terminal by navigating to Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app. 5. Change your working directory to BIMAD_Trial. 6. Start the installation by entering./configurebimad.sh on the command line. 7. At the prompt, enter the Password to be used for the BI Mobile App Designer. The Username "demo" is preassigned. The password must be at least 8 characters and contain at least one number and one alpha character. Use the username "demo" and the password you select when you log in to BI Mobile App Designer. At the second prompt, retype the password to confirm. 8. After the install is complete, WebLogic Server automatically launches and starts up the BI Mobile App Designer. You see the following information in your browser window as the server starts up: 6

9. When the server starts up, the BI Mobile App Designer Welcome page automatically launches in your web browser. You are now ready to get started! On the Welcome page click the task that you want to accomplish: Create App View Sample Apps Modify an existing app 10. 3 Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition Use these procedures to start and stop the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition: Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac 3.1 Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows Use these procedures after initial installation to start and stop BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows. 3.1.1 Starting BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition To start BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows: 1. On the Windows Start menu, on the Programs menu, navigate to Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition and then select Start BI Mobile App Designer. A command window launches for Oracle WebLogic Server. When the WebLogic Server window displays the following line you can sign in to BI Mobile App Designer: < [current date and time]> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000360> <Server started in RUNNING mode> 2. To sign in to BI Mobile App Designer, on the Windows Start menu, on the Programs menu, navigate to Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition and then select Open BI Mobile App Designer. This launches the Welcome page in a browser. 8

On the Welcome page click the task that you want to accomplish: Create App View Sample App Modify an existing app 3.1.2 Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition To stop BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Windows: On the Windows Start menu, on the Programs menu, navigate to Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition and then select Stop BI Mobile App Designer. 9

3.2 Starting and Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac Use these procedures after initial installation to start and stop BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac. 3.2.1 Starting BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition To start BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac: 1. Open Terminal by navigating to Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app. 2. Change your working directory to BIMAD_Trial/bin. 3. Run startbimad.sh. 4. When the server starts up, the BI Mobile App Designer Welcome page automatically launches in your web browser. On the Welcome page click the task that you want to accomplish: Create App View Sample Apps Modify an existing app 5. Sign in using the password you specified during the installation. 3.2.2 Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition To stop BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition on Mac: 1. Change your working directory to BIMAD_Trial/bin. 2. Run stopbimad.sh. 4 Getting More Information Included with the installation is Getting Started with Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. This tutorial contains step-by-step instructions for creating your first BI Mobile App. To access the tutorial click the Tutorial link on the Welcome page. 10

Table 1 Requirement Operating system BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition System Requirements Supported Versions Microsoft Windows operating systems: (32-bit or 64-bit) Windows 2003 with SP2/R2+ Windows 7 (all SP levels included) Windows Server 2008 with SP1+, SP2+ Windows Server 2008 R2 (all SP levels included) Mac OS OS X 10.7 or later Disk space RAM 2.4 GB 1 GB free beyond OS requirements 11

Mac users must have Java installed on their system before installing BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. To get Java go to: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloa ds/index.html 5.2 Mobile Device Requirements Table 2 provides the requirements for running apps created with Mobile App Designer. Microsoft Excel Workbook (.xlsx) Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls) 6 What Is Included in the Trial Edition The following components are installed with the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition: Java SE JRE version 6 Update 31 Java DB 10.6.1.0 (Java DB is the Oracle release of the Apache Derby project) Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) 12

Included exclusively to run the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. The WebLogic Server distribution is not intended for production or test deployments. Oracle BI Mobile App Designer 11.1.1.7.1 server and repository including sample apps and sample data 7 Uninstalling the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition This section includes the following topics: Uninstalling from Windows Uninstalling from Mac 7.1 Uninstalling from Windows The uninstall procedure does not remove the BI Mobile App Designer repository that contains the report objects in the catalog, connection settings to data sources and delivery servers, and user profile information. This is to ensure that you have this content available when you decide to move to the production version. During the removal process, the repository folder is renamed with a date-time stamp, for example: repository02142012-113310. To uninstall Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition from Windows: 1. Stop BI Mobile App Designer using the instructions here: Section 3.1.2, "Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition." 2. In the Windows Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs. Windows 7 users select Programs and Features. 3. Select Oracle BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. 4. Click Remove. Windows 7 users select Uninstall. 5. The InstallShield Wizard prompt displays: "Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its features?" Click Yes. 6. When the process completes, click Finish. 7. (Optional) Manually delete the BI Mobile App Designer repository folder. Navigate to the location where you installed the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition, for example: C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Mobile App Designer\BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. Delete the repository folder. 7.2 Uninstalling from Mac To uninstall the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition from Mac: 1. Stop BI Mobile App Designer using the instructions here: Section 3.2.2, "Stopping BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition." 2. Remove the BIMAD_Trial directory. 8 Troubleshooting Following are troubleshooting guidelines for BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition. Installation Script Does Not Run on Mac 13

Installation Error: \Java\jre7\lib\ext\QTJava.zip was unexpected at this time. Process exited. Internet Explorer 8 Does Not Launch the Welcome Page Installation Script Does Not Run on Mac If the install script does not execute when you run it on your Mac computer, ensure that there are no spaces in the install directory. Note that if you have downloaded the BI Mobile App Designer Trial Edition more than once, the subsequent downloads may insert a suffix that includes a space plus integer (for example " 2"). Delete the space before running the installation script. Installation Error: \Java\jre7\lib\ext\QTJava.zip was unexpected at this time. Process exited. If you see the error: \Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip was unexpected at this time. Check if QTJava.zip is set in the %CLASSPATH% environment variable CLASSPATH=.;C:\Program Files (x86)\quicktime\qtsystem\qtjava.zip Remove C:\Program Files (x86)\quicktime\qtsystem\qtjava.zip from %CLASSPATH% environment variable and restart the computer. Internet Explorer 8 Does Not Launch the Welcome Page If you are using Internet Explorer 8, after the installation completes the Welcome page does not launch.
