EU-TW 5G Collaboration q 2014/05/13 An ITRI delegation visited EC to kick off collaboration discussion q 2014/08/06 Held internal 5G workshop in Taiwan q 2014/10/24 A Taiwan delegation of 28 members visited EC and held an EU-TW Joint Workshop discussing collaboration methods q 2014/12/23 held a workshop to discuss targeted opening topics from Foxconn, Asus+NCCU, NCTU, ITRI & III q EC selected Integration of different air interface technologies and the fronthaul/backhaul/core network, in lab or in a testbed, to demonstrate the capabilities of new spectrum schemes when coworking with the network. A system with applications is strongly encouraged, e.g. for high speed moving vehicles as targeted opening collaboration topics. EU and Taiwan will allocate funding for the collaboration projects. 2 2

Summary l Taiwan has accomplished a major milestone by reaching an agreement with EC adopting targeted opening as the initial collaboration method. l University of Surrey 5G Innovation Center (5GIC) will start deploying a small cells network As a member of 5GIC, ITRI will engage in collaboration discussion with 5GIC to participate in the testbed project l Taiwan will continue the initiative of promoting 5G collaboration between UK and Taiwan. 8
