UPLOADING A RECORDING TO I-TUNES (updated 9/2/09) Before you begin, install the following FREE software: I-Tunes Java Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser http://www.apple.com/itunes/overview/ http://www.java.com/en/ http://www.mozilla.com/en-us/firefox/ Podcasting Terms You Need to Know Podcast channel: A podcast channel is like a radio show that you listen to regularly or a magazine that you subscribe to. A radio show "series" has episodes like a magazine has "issues" and these become available to you sequentially over time. You subscribe to a podcast channel which may already contain episodes and, once subscribed, your podcast software "discovers" new episodes and makes them available to you as they become available. Subscribing to an educational podcast channel, then, would bring regular episodes or lessons to you as your professor makes them available. Podcast episode: The podcast episode is where the content of a podcast channel is found. Each episode is a self-contained unit that is, or should be, related to all of the other episodes in a given channel in some way or another. * For these instructions: Channel = one course Episode = one lecture in a course. Therefore each channel will contain all the episodes or lectures for the semester. I-Tunes is can be configured to automatically check for new episodes, so every time your students visit the channel for your course they will see any new episodes.
