Navigate to the Settings Navigate to the settings by clicking on the, Customize Local Layout button on the Standard Toolbar, and clicking on Options Options The SAP GUI Options CMD window is displayed. Expand the Interaction Design folder Click on the expand button to the left of the Interaction Design folder or Double click on the Interaction Design folder. Automatically Move to the Next Field Automatically move focus to next input field on reaching the end of input field When typing in a field in a transaction, when you reach the end of the field, the cursor will automatically move to the next field. The position of the cursor in that next field depends on the 3 rd setting in this set. Note: If this box is not checked, you must use the tab key to move to the next field, or click in the next field with your mouse. Remember Text Cursor Position Remember text cursor position within input fields When using the Tab key to move to the next field or the Shift+Tab keys to move back one field, the cursor will be positioned to the location of the cursor when you were last in that field. Note: This only applies to the current execution of a transaction. When you exit out of the transaction, your cursor placements will be lost. Position Cursor at End of Field Value Position text cursor at the end of the value when entering a field Used for ignoring blank spaces at the end of fields. When checked, and you click into the end of the text in a field, the cursor will be positioned at the end of the last character. If unchecked, cursor can be placed in blank values to the right of last character. Note: This option is not for auto-placing the cursor at the end of the field when tabbing into a field. Auto Select Contents of Field Autom. select the complete value when entering a field in insert mode (INS) When using the Tab key to move to the next field or the Shift+Tab keys to move back one field, the entire contents of the field will be highlighted and the cursor will be at the end of the field contents. When you type, the content will be overwritten. Note: You must be in insert (INS) mode. Check the bottom right hand corner of the Status bar. Final Notes Remember to check for INS or OVR status in the Status bar. You should play with the different settings to determine the one that is best for your data entry work. These are safe settings that are local to your experience, you will not affect the work of others. When you click on the Apply button after a change to these settings, the change is immediately applied. You do not have to exit out of a transaction for the change to take effect. Be Aware: The Restore Defaults button will restore ALL GUI default settings, and not just these.
