This streamlined infrastructure can be deployed and scaled in a fraction of the time required for traditional solutions.

Intelligent design, Independent scaling. The architecture of 8kpc solution is a software defined infrastructure on a scale-out platform.the SDx software builds a distributed platform for deploying, managing and controlling virtual machines and a two-tier storage cluster. Each appliance includes two nodes for redundancy and two storage tiers: FlashStore and BulkStore. FlashStore, the primary data layer on PCIe-based flash hardware, is the primary I/O interface for the hypervisor. BulkStore, the secondary tier storage on HDDs, serves as the high capacity cold data storage layer. Each layer can be independently scaled and intelligent data-tiering ensures that the flash performance is always available for all I/O operations. Unlike other locally-cached hyper-converged solutions, our platform forms a truly distributed cluster for high-speed primary data. In addition, the globally-pooled resources are managed flexibly among the different primary data layers and secondary BulkStore layers. This is the innovation that enables unprecedented scalability. FEATURES ULTRA-EFFICIENT DUAL STORAGE AND CONSIS- TENTLY HIGH IOPS Our dual storage layers-primary flash and secondary HDD with automatic data-tiering-ensure the most efficient use of available storage. The FlashStore layer handles all the front-end services via flash storage, operating as a cache to enable faster access to the most recent data. FlashStore nodes on flash media maintain only the most recently used data and expand storage availability by flushing out data to the BulkStore in the background. Intelligent synchronization ensures that application I/O needs are always serviced by the flash layer for high performance, and high IOPS is guaranteed even at a large number of nodes within the cluster. UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE AND CAPACITY SCALING Capacity is easily scaled by adding disks to FlashStore or BulkStore HDD-based nodes, and IOPS can be maximized by clustering the flash based FlashStore nodes. This simple yet powerful scaling process dramatically reduces scale-up risks from pilot to production-level environments. ADVANCED ARCHITECTURE FOR DATA PROTECTION AND RESILIENCE Our N+1 Architecture means there is no single point of failure. System availability is guaranteed even with the failure of an individual component and resiliency is maximized because data and metadata are separated in the system and can be stored on separate nodes. High Availability: Every FlashStore in 8kpc 8SDS platform will have its peer FlashStore in another node in the same appliance. This peer FlashStore will maintain the replicated data from its peer to serve the IO in case the original node is not functional. The 8kpc network intelligence technology ensures fast synchronous replication between peer FlashStore nodes. The cluster management software continuously monitors the state of each node. If any of the nodes goes offline, its peer node (which has the replicated data) takes ownership of the file and serves the data from its flash. The FlashStore data is replicated in an active / active mode, eliminating downtime. 8kpc also replicates files with an object versioning scheme in HDD BulkStore. Versions are periodically created on the BulkStore, and frequency can be configured during volume creation. Similarly, if a Bulk- Store VM goes down, services will be taken over by one of the other BulkStore VMs in the cluster. The management software (accessible via a GUI dashboard) runs on two dedicated management nodes configured for high availability with automatic failover in the event of a failure. Versioning: Our versioning feature maintains multiple versions of the same disk files in the HDD layer, which helps with version control in the event of disk/file corruption or accidental deletion, eliminating the need for recreating the entire VM. Based on the frequency and number of versions to be maintained, maintained, The system automatically creates versions, using snapshots. Users can customize the number and frequency of snapshots. The version restore feature moves the objects back to the right FlashStore for active access if roll back is required, and any number of replicas of a specific object can be created both synchronously and asynchronously. Volume Backup and Restore: For long term backup of data and DR purposes, volume level backup can be used. Volume-level backup and restore works by taking a backup of entire volume across the cluster and storing it in a geographically separate location. Volume-level backup is taken from the HDD BulkStore layer and the entire data and metadata can be replicated and stored via the WAN.

Management and Orchestration: The 8kpc software platform manages all data in the cluster (across all the nodes) in a single namespace, enabling simplified management and operations. IT operations are greatly simplified because compute, storage and network- ing functions are all managed through a single web-based interface. Tight integration of the three infrastructure elements greatly reduce the number of components requiring management thereby significantly reducing system complexity. Designing, deploying and scaling even business-critical applications such as SQL Servers on the 8kpc solution is also greatly simplified. The entire manage- ment is VM-centric, requiring no LUNS, RAID, zoning, mask- ing or storage multi-pathing. The orchestration features are integrated into the management dashboard with all critical information such as resource usage, status of both tiers of storage and VM status displayed on the main dashboard. The main dashboard also includes a real-time alert feed, providing up-to date information on the entire deployment cluster. Each node in the appliance can be monitored for vital parameters such as CPU, memory, data and services/trends presented and analyzed. This rich set of metrics provides deep insight into the infrastructure, enabling quick problem resolution. A Single-Hop Architecture: The 8kpc platform is built on a single-hop architecture. This ensures that every read or write to the disc is a single hop. This allows VMs for high performance on each node. Even in case of a failure of a node or VM migration the single hop architecture ensures that VM performance is met. Localization: The 8kpc platform has no shared disk, and data is spread across multiple independent nodes in the cluster. This localization of data for every compute VM allows for high performance per host, with no impact from surrounding VMs. Large mixed workloads can now be run in the same Cluster. This enables massive consolidation of existing infrastructure silos, which eases management complexity, improves compliance, and service-levels. This feature also facilitates non-disruptive software and hardware upgrades unlike other legacy solutions. Other benefits include reduced footprint leading to reduced power, and cooling expenses in the datacenter. Automation: The appliances are optimized with automation recipes and ready to be deployed in under an hour. Once the backup frequency, number of backups and retention period are specified, the solution automatically creates versions of the BulkStore data. These versions can then be restored as needed with just a few clicks. Other application-focused workflows, such as master image creation and updates in a VDI use-case, are also automated.this enhance both simplicity of use and performance.
