Quick Reference Guide Quick Reference Guide Online Courier: Direct Download Direct Download is a Java -based program that serves as a secure access channel through which information is exchanged between the bank and your computer. SunTrust Online Courier is the server component to this system and contains service entitlements, account number authorizations, user credentials, and profiles. Together, Online Courier and Direct Download create a secure, authenticated, and automatic information delivery platform that is simple to administer and easy to use. With Direct Download, data file transfers take place in an unattended manner. Direct Download is programmed such that once a connection with Online Courier has been established, it will automatically reconnect should a network outage occur for any reason. This failsafe mechanism ensures that once a network connection becomes available, a reconnect with Online Courier will occur and data transmissions are once again available automatically. Signing On To Access Online Courier Enter your Company ID, User ID, and Password. Click Sign On or Launch. Note: Sign-on information is case-sensitive. If you enter your password incorrectly three times in a row, your User ID will be locked. Contact your company administrator to unlock your User ID. If you are signing on for the first time, the system will prompt you to enter and then re-enter a new password. Enter the information, then click the Sign On button. To Access Direct Download To use Direct Download with Online Courier, you will need to download and run the installation package, then configure network settings. Direct Download Requirements The following are recommended system requirements for Direct Download usage. Internet Connectivity A connection to the Internet of 56kbps or faster is required. Network connections may be either direct or using HTTP proxy. Admin/Install Rights When downloading Direct Download, you will need administration rights for the operating system to automatically install the application. Depending on your company s computer security policies, you may need assistance from your technology support group. Otherwise, follow the installation steps outlined in this guide. Please seek assistance from your technology/network support personnel if you encounter problems that prevent you from completing the installation. Supported Operating Systems MS Windows OS Linux/Mac OS X Windows Vista 10.7 Lion Windows 7 10.8 Mountain Lion Windows 8 and 8.1 10.9 Mavericks Note: 32 and 64-bit operating systems are supported. 1

Hard Drive Space The Direct Download software requires approximately 100 MB of hard drive space. Additional space should be reserved to accommodate the data and files you expect to receive from the bank. Installing and Configuring Direct Download Only users having valid Online Courier user credentials will be able to install Direct Download. Download and installation procedures will vary slightly based on the browser and operating system you are using. The Direct Download channel is installed in two steps: 1. Download and run the current Direct Download installation package from the Online Courier site. 2. Configure Direct Download on your computer for the first time. Installing Direct Download 1. Under the Online Courier My Settings tab, select Direct Download. 2. Click the Direct Download link. 3. In the pop-up window, click Run to begin the installation process OR click Save to save the install package to your computer. If you choose to save the install package to your computer, you will need to locate the file and open it in order to begin the installation process after the file has been downloaded. Note: When the installation process begins, a window titled install4j Wizard will appear with a status bar. Click Cancel in this window at any time to stop the installation process. When the install4j Wizard status bar completes, the Online Courier Direct Download Setup Wizard welcome box appears. 4. Click the Next button. 5. Choose a Destination directory by clicking the Browse button if you want to install the Direct Download program in a folder other than the default location, then click the Next button. 6. Select the Start Menu folder in which you would like to create the program s shortcuts, then click the Next button. 7. Select whether you want the installation process to Create a desktop icon OR check the box next to Install as service if you plan on running Direct Download continually unattended on a computer or server. Note: After Direct Download is installed, you can copy the desktop icon shortcut to your start-up folder so Direct Download automatically starts every time you start your computer. Installing Direct Download as a service means Direct Download will auto-run when your computer starts up, and if you sign off your computer but leave it on, Direct Download will continue to perform its data transfer functions in an automatic, unattended mode. 8. Click the Next button to continue the installation process. 9. When the installation process is complete, click the Finish button. Installing or Uninstalling Direct Download as a Service After the original install, you may want to change your Install as service setting. You can install or uninstall Direct Download as a service at any time. The following instructions apply to users of Windows. 1. Open the directory folder on your hard drive where you installed the Online Courier Direct Download files. 2. Open the bin folder inside that directory; you will see a number of files. 3. Double click on the file named InstallNTService.bat to install Direct Download as a service OR double click the file named UninstallNTService.bat in the bin folder to uninstall Direct Download as a service. With either choice, a DOS window will open and execute the install/uninstall service commands. If Direct Download is running when you issue the UninstallNTService.bat command, it will be stopped. Because this process can happen quickly, it may appear as a flash on your screen. Configuring Direct Download When you run Direct Download for the first time, you will be required to enter your Online Courier user credentials, establish a connection with the Online Courier desktop server, and select the default storage folder for files received from the bank. Please contact your network administrator if you need help or assistance with the information in this section. Step 1: Network Settings Whether Direct Download runs as part of the installation process, you select it from the Start Menu, or you double-click the icon on your computer, the first time it runs, it will establish a secure connection to the Online Courier desktop server at the bank. In order to do this, a network connection over the Internet must be established. As the program begins, it displays an Online Courier splash image to indicate it is running. 2

The system attempts negotiation through firewalls and/or network software installed in your environment to ensure that it can reach the Online Courier server. While this process happens, the installation window displays a Testing Direct Connection message with a spinning green icon to the right. When the connection is established, a confirmation message will appear. Note: Should a direct connection fail, the Direct Download installation process will automatically attempt a communication connection using an HTTP proxy that may be defined for your network. In this case, the proxy settings established for your browser will be tested. Should the proxy settings fail the connection test, you will receive an alert informing you to configure the proxy settings manually. To manually configure your proxy setting, click the Manual Proxy Configuration button. The Proxy Configuration window allows you to select one of three different network settings: direct, automatic, or manual. Use Connect directly if you want/have a direct connection to the Internet. Direct connections support NAT address translation and gateway addressing to establish the communication session. Select Use operating system proxy settings if you want Direct Download to use your computer s established proxy settings. While a computer s established proxy settings may not be compatible in every case, Direct Download will use them if possible when this radio button is selected. If you want to enter your proxy information, select Manually specify the proxy settings. Manual settings allow entry of proxy host address and port number. If your proxy requires authentication, a username and password value may be entered. In all cases, it is advisable to click the Test Proxy Settings button to see if your proxy settings work. If a communication session is possible with your settings, you will receive a Click Save when completed manually configuring proxy settings message. Click the Next button to go to Step 2. Step 2: Authentication Once Direct Download establishes a network session with the Online Courier server, you will need to enter your Online Courier sign-on credentials, including your password on the M-Secure Keyboard, which provides an extra layer of security. Click the Login button after entering your sign-on credentials. 3

When valid credentials are entered and authenticated, Direct Download may require you to change your password. If this is your first access with Online Courier, your current password is expired, or your password has been reset by an administrator, you must change your password. Step 3: User Preferences The Download Directory is the default folder where the Online Courier files you receive will be stored. In the event you change the default Download Directory, any service added after this change will send reports to the new folder. Reports under existing Services will continue to be sent to the same folders. To change the default location, please refer to the Changing the Default Download Directory for New Files section later in this guide. To set the Download Directory, click the Change button, select a folder on your computer or server, then click the Finish button. At this point, the installation is complete and the Direct Download application is running. You will see a new icon representing Direct Download in your system tray and on your computer desktop. Starting Direct Download To start Direct Download, double-click the icon on your computer desktop if you selected that option during the installation OR select SunTrust Online Courier Direct Download from the Start menu. If Direct Download is running as a service, the application will start automatically any time you start your computer. Direct Download will place an icon in the system tray and attempt a communications session with Online Courier. When a network connection between Direct Download and Online Courier is successful, the system tray icon will notify you of this event with an information bubble. If the icon is blinking, a connection attempt is in progress. Once a connection is established, data files can be exchanged between Direct Download and Online Courier. This data exchange process is automatic and secure, only delivering information for authorized services. As files are sent and received, an information bubble will show from the tray icon. If you move your mouse over the icon, a status of files sent and received will display. Microsoft Windows Vista/7 Considerations When Direct Download is Installed as a Service Due to security enhancements and other considerations, Services in Microsoft Windows Vista/7 operate differently than services in other Windows operating systems. One basic difference is that in Microsoft Windows Vista/7, the background service cannot interface with the foreground window. In other Windows operating systems, one could interface to the background service through the Windows user interface. This means that when Direct Download is running as a service with Microsoft Windows Vista/7, you will not see the icon in the system tray, nor will you see the information bubbles that pop up as file transfers occur. Since there is no icon in the system tray, you cannot open the Direct Download user interface to change settings or view audit information. You can, however, click the Direct Download icon in the Start menu, desktop, or program folder in order to access its user interface for maintenance/audit purposes. When you do this, you are actually starting a new copy 4

of Direct Download as a foreground task. The proper procedure to perform maintenance activity on Direct Download running as a service on Microsoft Windows Vista/7 is to: 1. Stop the Direct Download service from running. 2. Start Direct Download from the Windows icon or Start menu. 3. Perform the desired maintenance or audit activities. 4. Stop/Exit the current Direct Download session. 5. Restart the Direct Download service. Using the Direct Download User Interface Through the Direct Download user interface, you can change service settings, set up a schedule of when Direct Download actively looks for files, and other configurable settings. If the user interface is hidden when Direct Download is started, you may access it in one of two ways: 1. Double-click the Direct Download icon in the system tray, OR 2. Right-click the Direct Download icon in the system tray and select Show Direct Download. Located on the left side of the Direct Download user interface is the Download Services panel. This panel provides access to the Online Courier services that are supported by the Direct Download delivery channel. The particular services populating this menu list are those that have been established for, and permitted to, your User ID within Online Courier. To select a service, click the name in the list. When a service is selected, information for the service is shown in the right side window for you to manage service preferences and/or view the information archive. Changing Location Folders for Specific Services You can configure Direct Download so that files for any specific service will go to a specific folder other than the default Download Directory you selected when you initially configured Direct Download. 1. Click the service in the Download Services panel. 2. Click the Settings option in the upper right corner of the service s window. 3. Click the Browse button next to Receive File Directory. 4. Select a new folder, then click the Select button. 5. Click the Save button. Customizing File Names You can customize the file names for each entitled service delivered by Direct Download to your computer. The file name can be static, such as Daily ACH File, or contain macros that include variable data, such as Template Name, Date, and Time. 1. Click the service in the Download Services panel. 2. Click the Settings option in the far upper right of the service s window. 3. Enter a file name in the File Name field. Clicking the File Name field will open a Help Window displaying the available macros you can include. The table at the back of this guide shows the supported macros that are available. Example: Filename = DailyACHReport_%mm%%dd%%yy% would save as DailyACHReport_120110.txt. 4. Click the Overwrite existing files checkbox if you only want one file for that service in the designated folder. If left unchecked, a sequential number will be added to the end of the file name (e.g., DailyACHReport_1.txt, DailyACHReport_2.txt) when new files are saved to the folder. 5. Click the Save button. 5

Change location folder Customize File Name and format Searching for Received Files When a service is selected from the Download Services panel, the last 45 days of received file audit information is shown in the lower window. Each transaction shows its original date/time stamp, File Name, and File Path where the file was stored. These transactions may be sorted by clicking on the column header(s). Additional search and filtering capabilities are available when you click the Search button at the top right corner of the window. To view details of a particular file, click the row containing the file in question. The row will highlight and the bottom window will show the file s detail information. Clicking the file name in the Event Details section will open a File Explorer window showing where the file was stored. Click a file record to view detail information 6

Changing the Default Download Directory for New Files When Direct Download receives information, it is decrypted and stored in a directory folder. All data from a service which does not have its own specific assigned directory is stored in the default directory. The initial default Download Directory is established during the installation process, but you can change to a new directory at any time using the process specified below. 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Client Profile. 2. Click the Change Initial Download Directory button. 3. Select a new folder location, then click Choose Directory. 4. Click Save Changes. 5. Click Yes when prompted to reconnect with the new settings. Note: Changing the default directory will only apply to files of new services added after the change. It does not change the specific directory assignments you have established for other individual services. To change the save folder for existing services to the new default, follow the steps in the Changing Location Folders for Specific Services section of this guide. Scheduling Connections Once Direct Download is connected, data files are automatically exchanged between Direct Download and Online Courier but you can also configure Direct Download to only connect to Online Courier on a timetable that you establish. When schedules are enabled, Direct Download only communicates with Online Courier during the defined scheduled task periods. Should you wish to connect outside of scheduled task periods, you may manually connect and disconnect using the options in the user interface Network menu. To Enable Scheduling 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Schedule. 2. Check the Enable Schedule box, then click the Add button. 3. Enter a schedule Name. 4. Select Days active, Start time, and End time settings for the schedule. 5. Click the Save Changes button to create the Schedule Task. You may repeat the previous steps if necessary; tasks can have overlapping start/stop times. 6. Click the Save Changes button. To Modify or Delete Scheduled Tasks 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Schedule. 2. Highlight a Task Name in the Scheduled Tasks section, then click the Edit or Remove button. 3. Click the Save Changes button after making any appropriate modifications to the name, days, or time. 4. Modify other tasks if desired, then click the Save Changes button. To Disable Scheduling 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Schedule. 2. Uncheck the Enable Schedule box. 3. Click the Save Changes button. 7

Enable or disable Schedule connection Add, Edit or Remove existing schedule tasks Configure days and time of task Disconnecting the Direct Download Connection You can stop data transmissions but leave Direct Download running. When Direct Download is disconnected, there is no connection to the Online Courier server. The desktop s status bar will show an offline status message. The icon on the desktop and in the system tray will become gray and a mouse-over of either icon will display an offline status. 1. Under the Network menu in the top toolbar, select Disconnect. 2. Click Yes on the confirmation box. Note: You can select Re-Establish Connection from the Network menu to resume the network connection. Changing Proxy Settings Through Direct Download, you can establish or change proxy settings to connect with the Internet. 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Proxy Configuration. 2. Select one of three different network settings: direct, automatic, or manual. For more information about these settings, please refer to the Configuring Direct Download section of this guide. 3. Click Save when you have finished configuring your proxy settings. 4. Click Yes on the confirmation box. To Change Your Online Courier Password Through Direct Download 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select Change Password. 2. Enter your old password using the M-Secure Keyboard. 3. Enter and re-enter a new password using the M-Secure Keyboard. 4. Click the Change Password button. 8

To View Desktop Audit Data While audit information is available in the Direct Download Active Window for each service, you can also view audit information for all services and actions in the Audit Events window. Specific Audit Events may be found by entering data into the searchable text boxes and/or selecting information choices from the drop-down boxes found in the Search section. 1. Under the Preferences menu in the top toolbar, select View Audit Events. 2. In the Audit Events Window, the current session s audit event displays as a default. Click the Search button to generate a new audit report. Selecting an item from the report will display its information in the Event Details section. Stopping Direct Download When Direct Download is stopped, it is no longer running on your computer and its icon disappears from the system tray. Any network connection with the Online Courier server is terminated and data exchange services are no longer possible. Files or messages that are scheduled will be queued on the Online Courier server until Direct Download is restarted and connected again. There are two ways to stop Direct Download. 1. From the Direct Download user interface File menu, select Exit, OR 2. Right-click the Direct Download icon in the system tray, then click Exit. Note: Clicking the Close Window icon in the top right corner of the Direct Download window will cause the user interface to disappear (hide). This closes the Direct Download window but does not stop the application from running. Uninstalling Direct Download 1. From the Start menu on your computer, find the Direct Download Start Menu folder. 2. Select the Uninstaller menu item for the uninstall process to begin. 3. Click Next to uninstall Direct Download or Cancel to abort the uninstall process. Note: If Direct Download is running, you will be prompted to stop the program before continuing the uninstall process. Please refer to the Stopping Direct Download section of this guide. 9
