Cinegy Desktop Preface Page 1 Document version: 12346f0
Cinegy Desktop 10.5 System Recommendations Chapter 1. Operating Systems Support Cinegy Desktop runs on the following operating systems: Windows 7 32 bit / 64 bit SP1, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 R2. Operating system recommendation: Windows 8.1 Pro. 1.1. Supported Hardware The required hardware largely depends on the working video resolution to be used at each desktop machine. The hardware requirements for working with low-quality-sd files are met by virtually any machine (e.g. Intel Pentium E2160 1.8GHz or better). For all other formats the performance requirements are the same as those given for Cinegy Air PRO (refer to the Cinegy Air PRO system recommendations). For example, when doing cuts-only medium-quality-sd editing (DVD-quality MPEG-2) a single processor 2.7 GHz Intel Pentium E5400 machine is sufficient. However, for more demanding tasks, such as creating effects and titles in real-time, a dual processor machine or a single processor machine with dual cores are recommended. 1.2. Hardware Recommendations for SD Operations Dual core processor with 2 GHz or better (Core2Duo, Core i5). 2GB of RAM or better (4GB when using 64-bit OS). Gigabit Ethernet. Recommended hardware: Any Windows 7 certified PC. NVIDIA GeForce GT240 or GT430 graphics card or better. 1.3. Hardware Recommendations for HD Operations Single six-core processor with 2 GHz or better (Core i7 or single Xeon 56xx) or dual quad or six-core processors. 6GB of RAM. Gigabit Ethernet. Recommended hardware: HP Z400 or similar. NVIDIA GeForce 200 series graphics card or better. 1.4. SDI Video Card Support for Monitoring Cinegy Desktop supports the following SD/HD SDI video cards: Blackmagic DeckLink family of cards, DVS Centaurus II (LT), Atomix LT. Recommended hardware: Blackmagic is good value for money for this task. 1.5. Memory Standard Definition video at least 4GB of RAM. High Definition video at least 6GB of RAM. Recommended hardware: 6GB of RAM or more. If other applications are running on the machine at the same time, additional memory may be advised. 1.6. Graphics Card There are no particular requirements with regards to graphics card unless the optional video output of such card is supposed Page 2 Document version: 12346f0
to be used as a control video monitor output. Any recent graphics card from NVIDIA will work. Even integrated graphics adapters as found in motherboard chipset by Intel will work fine in most scenarios. To work with Cinegy Type only NVIDIA boards are currently certified. Other cards may work but with no guarantee. For editing purposes in Cinegy Desktop / Cinegy Type editor cards like NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 or GT 430 graphics card or better are recommended. For HD applications the graphics adapter should be equipped with at least 256 MB of memory and the memory bus width should be 128 bit or better. For HD playback motherboard integrated graphics, to date, are not fast enough. Supported video hardware for control monitor video output: Any VGA card that can output the DirectX overlay on video out. DirectX/3D 9 acceleration support is recommended, NVIDIA is recommended for Cinegy Desktop with Cinegy Type. Blackmagic Design DeckLink series SDI video boards. DVS Centaurus II (LT), Atomix LT video boards. Chapter 1. Operating Systems Support Page 3 Document version: 12346f0

Export via Virtual VT The export via Virtual VT feature is also available, allowing Cinegy Desktop to work in slave mode and make the computer visible as a VTR for any external NLE, playout system or VTR recorder. External equipment may control Cinegy Virtual VT by RS-422 like normal BetaCam deck. This feature is available only with DVS boards. 3.7. Recommended Microsoft Hotfixes Depending on the operating systems you are using, certain hotfixes installation may be required for proper Cinegy software performance. The corresponding hotfix downloads are available by the references given below. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3036169/ This reliability improvement update for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 fixes problems with locks and hangs of software threads which may affect Cinegy Software. It also fixes problems with usage capacities with CPUs in low-power states. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3055343/ Chapter 3. Operating Systems Support This update for Server 2012 R2 can fix issues if a customer is experiencing unexpected server crashes (complete OS crash) with Stop error message 0xD1, 0x139 or 0x3B, due to problems enumerating installed network cards.
