I-Button: V-Sperm Gold version 3.48 must be installed with SQA-V Gold version 2.48. Instructions Included. The upgrade process will not effect the tests loaded into the SQA- V. Those test that have been loaded will remain in the SQA-V. If you have an I-Button instrument, make sure you are loading I-Button software (SQA-V version 2.48 & V-Sperm version 3.48) If you have a Non I-Button instrument, make sure you are loading Non I-Button software (SQA-V version 2.49 & V-Sperm version 3.49) SQA-V Instrument: SQA-V Version 2.45 or later must be installed on the SQA-V in order to upgrade RS232 communication cable (supplied with the system) must be connected A current version of V-Sperm Gold must be installed on the PC after upgrading to SQA-V Gold version 2.48 or 2.49 (instructions included in this document) PC and related components (V-Sperm Gold interface): 1 GHz processor, Pentium 3 RAM 256 MB AGP-video display card with minimum 16 MB RAM memory Color video: Minimum 16 bit (65, 535) CD ROM drive 200 MB free hard disk space for image capturing Video resolution: Minimum 640X480 Minimum requirements (V-Sperm Gold interface): Windows 2000, XP Requires: DirectX, DivX. Step 1 Transfer SQA-V Archive Before beginning the upgrade process it is necessary to transfer the patient and control archive from the SQA-V to V-Sperm. To do this: 1. Turn on the SQA-V from the rear switch and the front on/off key 2. Activate the service data screen: MAIN MENU>SERVICE>SERVICE DATA 3. Open the V-Sperm program on the PC and sign-in 4. Click the Import/Export navigation button in V-Sperm. Select: Import Data 5. Select: Import Archive (Patient Data) 6. Click: CONTINUE on the V-Sperm import data screen 7. Repeat steps 5-7 to import the Control archive by selecting Import Controls on the import data screen instead of Import Archive. 8. After importing both archives (Patient Data and Controls) V-Sperm will ask Do you want to delete the SQA-V (Controls) archive? Select NO 9. Close V-Sperm but leave the PC on Step 2 Print SELF TEST DATA and DEFAULT SETTINGS Follow the instructions in your User Guide to print a copy of your Self Test Data Follow the instructions in your User Guide to print a copy of your Default Settings Keep a copy of each printout (to compare parameters and re-enter your defaults after completing the installation) Step 3 Please note: During this phase the PC and the SQA-V are hooked-up and the PC is still on from Step 1. All other programs on the PC should be closed! Install SQA-V Gold Software Version 2.48 or 2.49 Turn off the SQA-V from the rear panel Press and hold the SERVICE key of the SQA-V while turning on the SQA-V from the rear panel When the lower SQA-V screen is blank or displays garbled lines/lights release the SERVICE key Insert the CD or Flash Stick: SQA-V Gold Software Version 2.48 or 2.49 into the PC s CD-ROM Navigate to the CD Rom Drive or Flash Stick containing the software. Double click MesNewSQAVersion to begin setup A pop-up message will appear briefly. If prompted to start installation select: NEXT Release date: September 17, 2010 2 MES Global www.mes-global.com
This screen will appear. It will display the communication port that is being used for the SQA-V. In the Password box enter the password: fertility Press Start to continue WARNING: Do not touch the keyboard or mouse during the downloading process. The screen will indicate the progress of the software loading process: Estimated time remaining Percentage counter Time elapsed The next screen will indicate that the download was successful Click CLOSE to exit To complete the uploading of new software, the memory needs to be cleared Step 4 NOTE: During this phase the PC and the SQA-V are hooked-up and the PC is still on from Step 1 Clear the SQA-V Memory Turn OFF the SQA-V from the rear panel Turn ON the SQA-V from the rear panel and the front panel Wait for the Main Menu to appear (5-7 Minutes) - screen may look fragmented From the Main Menu select: SERVICE > SERVICE DATA Navigate to your CD ROM or Flash Stick (it may still be in the CD drive from Step 3) Double click SetupCleanMem to begin memory clearance Release date: September 17, 2010 3 MES Global www.mes-global.com

Clear Flash Area screen will appear Press START A screen will indicate that the download has been successful IMPORTANT: Close this Clear Flash Area screen TURN OFF the SQA-V from the rear panel Step 5 WARNING: The SQA-V should have been turned off in Step 4. Do not begin Step 5 if the SQA-V has not been turned off! Print System Parameters Turn ON the SQA-V from the rear panel and from the front keypad From the MAIN MENU select: SERVICE > PRINT SQA-V DEFAULT SETTINGS Highlight: SELF TEST DATA PRESS: ENTER to print a copy of the SYSTEM PARAMETERS Compare these results with the pre-download SELF TEST DATA parameters Step 6 Compare SELF TEST and SYSTEM PARAMETERS Compare the following critical parameters (in bold) to ensure that they have not changed as a result of the installation of the version 2.49 SQA-V software: #1, 2, 3, 4 and 8, 9,10,11,13,15, 16, 17, 18 Check to see if the SQA-V Serial Number is on the post-download SQA-V printout (at the top) Call technical support if the numbers are different Troubleshooting Time out error DO NOT ACTIVATE THE SQA-V SOFTWARE Check connection between SQA-V and PC Close the "Clear Flash Area" screen Close all applications Re-run Steps 4 of the installation Call for technical support if the problem recurs Release date: September 17, 2010 4 MES Global www.mes-global.com

Close any open programs before beginning the upgrade process. 2. Navigate to your CD ROM or Flash Stick and click SETUP 3. The screen will display: Initializing Wise Installation Wizard 4. Click NEXT when the Welcome screen is displayed 5. Click NEXT when the Choose Destination Location screen is displayed to accept the V-Sperm default folder or click Browse to select another folder. 6. Click NEXT when Select Program Manager Group screen is displayed to begin copying files. If a messages Digital Signature Not Found is displayed, click YES 7. Installation complete: Click OK to restart the PC and complete the software installation 8. To activate the V-Sperm Gold software, double click the icon on the PC desktop. Phase 2 System Set-Up: To use the SQA-V Gold version 2.48 or 2.49 all system defaults MUST BE ENTERED. 1. The SQA-V with version 2.48 or 2.49 and the PC with V-Sperm version 3.48 or 3.49 must be connected via the RS232 cable and both turned on 2. In the SQA-V go to: MAIN MENU > SERVICE > SERVICE DATA 3. In the V-Sperm go to: SET-UP > SQA-V. Press: Continue and the following set-up screen will be displayed (NOTE: You should have a copy of your Defaults from a previous step) If CONTROL information is not available enter zeros for LOT#, Target Value, +/- Range for Automated and Manual settings for Level 1, 2 and Negative Control settings. Enter the following set-up information: Date format: DD/MM/YY (Europe) or MM/DD/YY (USA) Local date Morphology Criteria: WHO 3rd or WHO 4th Concentration/Chamber standard: 1 or 2 ( 2 recommended) Printing options (check the box to enable): Automatically print of test results Automatically print self test report on start-up Control defaults Enter all zeros if Control Material not available at this time.
