Connected Components Workbench Release Notes January 2017 These release notes apply to Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 software. Use Connected Components Workbench software to configure controllers and devices, develop programs for your control system, and design HMI screens. This release is a minor update for Connected Components Workbench software and contains minor enhancements and resolved anomalies. These release notes only document the changes for Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 for the localized language release. For descriptions of the major enhancements and anomalies for this release see Connected Components Workbench version 10.00 Release Notes, publication CC-RN001L-EN-P in the Literature Library. Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 Release Notes System requirements The following sections list the required hardware and software to run Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 software. Hardware requirements To use this release of Connected Components Workbench software effectively, your personal computer should meet the following minimum hardware requirements. Using a computer exceeding the recommended characteristics will improve performance. Processor: Pentium 4 2.8GHz or equivalent minimum, Intel Core i5 2.4 GHz or equivalent recommended RAM: 2 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended Hard disk space: 10 GB free Optical drive: DVD-ROM Pointing device: Any Windows -compatible pointing device Software requirements This release is supported on the following operating systems: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (32-bit and 64-bit) Important: Attempting to install Connected Components Workbench on a computer running Windows 7 without Service Pack 1 or later will fail. Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit) - requires.net Framework 3.5 to be installed Windows 8.1 (32-bit and 64-bit) - requires.net Framework 3.5 to be installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2012 R2 Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) Connected Components Workbench software has dependencies upon the following software components. These components will be installed with the Connected Components Workbench software if they are not already present and updated if required. Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 Release Notes System features Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 software has the following new and enhanced features: New features The following new features are introduced in this release: Connected Components Workbench Local Languages All local languages are now simplified to a single ECPFIGS installation package for English, Chinese, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Connected Components Workbench can switch languages without uninstalling and reinstalling. The ECPFGIS installation package only includes the English hardware user manuals. The CPFIGS (non-english) user manual are included in a separate User Manual installation package. The User Manual install package (CPFIGS) is available for download. To download the User Manual package, go to: Product Compatibility & Download Center and select Connected Components Workbench Release 10.01. Enhanced features The following features were modified in this release to improve performance or usability: Connected Components Workbench PanelView Firmware See also PanelView 800 Firmware version 4.012 included to support CompactLogix 5370 L2 and L3 controllers. Anomalies No major anomalies were encountered in Connected Components Workbench version 10.01. The following list identifies the known anomalies fixed in version 10.01. Resolved anomalies Connected Components Workbench: When using Connected Components Workbench version 9.01 software in Chinese language, ladder editor comments containing a Chinese period punctuation will always fail to build with an internal error. Application notes Restarts during install of Connected Components Workbench software Some Microsoft components may require a restart before the full Connected Components Workbench software installation is complete. If the Connected Components Workbench software does not install completely, restart the computer, the Connected Components Workbench software automatically continues installing. Install of Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 software If you have a previous version of Connected Components Workbench software installed: If upgrading from Standard Edition to Developer Edition, obtain the Developer Edition serial number. Backup your projects in case you need to revert to an earlier version of Connected Components Workbench software. Uninstall the previous version of Connected Components Workbench software from your computer. To install the Connected Components Workbench software: 1. Download the current version of Connected Components Workbench software (Standard or Developer Edition). 2. Launch Setup.exe. 3. Choose the language used during setup. By default, the language is the same as the operating system. 4. Choose the language for the software being installed. To install additional languages, select the language check box. 5. Choose the software products to install. By default all products are selected and installed with the Connected Components Workbench software. To remove a product or language from the current installation, clear the check box. 6. Follow the prompts in the Connected Components Workbench Setup window. The Connected Components Workbench software determines the components to install and upgrades them if necessary. If the computer must be restarted during install for a component to be properly installed, installation will continue after the restart occurs. 7. (optional) If installing the Developer Edition, enter the product serial number when prompted. 8. When the installation is complete, click Finish. 7

Connected Components Workbench version 10.01 Release Notes Changing languages and adding devices As a best practice, during installation ensure that all desired languages and device support are installed. However, if an additional language or device is required after the initial install, launch Setup.exe and go through the setup prompts again; selecting only the check boxes for the additional languages or devices you need to add to the software. Once a language has been installed, you can switch between languages in the Connected Components Workbench software. To switch the language in the Connected Components Workbench software: 1. From the Tools menu, select Options > Environment > Language. 2. Select the desired language from the list and then click OK. 3. Close the Connected Components Workbench software. The next time you start the Connected Components Workbench software the new language will be used. To hide the English help content: 1. From the Help menu, click View Help to launch Help Viewer 2.1. 2. In the Help Viewer, click the Viewer Options icon or press Ctrl+O. 3. In the Viewer Options dialog box, clear the Include English Content in all navigation tabs and F1 requests check box. 4. Click OK to close the Viewer Options dialog box, then close and relaunch Help Viewer 2.1.
