Holding a Trade Diploma recognized by the (DoL), and a minimum age of 23 years.
WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY AND HOW TO OBTAIN IT 18 The candidate has to pass the following subjects (with a minimum mark of 50%) before a Certificate of Competency is issued: Plant Engineering applicable to Factories or Mines and Works Legal Knowledge: OHS Act and Regulations or MHS Act and Regulations.

If one of the subjects is passed, then the candidate has three years to pass the other one, and failing to do that, the first exam has to be written again.

PLANT ENGINEERING CLASSES 26 I started giving PE part time classes in 1999 at the Technical College of CT in Pinelands. Due to small attendance, the College stopped giving these classes in 2002. That was when I started giving classes in a private capacity by renting a class room at one of the Technical Colleges or at CPUT Bellville Campus for a number of years. I give these classes twice a year, that ends a week or two just before the exams which are in June and November.

Classes were from 2000 to 2011 at CPUT, Bellville Campus also for both semesters twice a year.
