Intended Use The intended use of the ZPower Rechargeable System is to convert your hearing aids into rechargeable hearing aids compatible with ZPower silver-zinc rechargeable batteries. Compatibility The ZPower Rechargeable System is available in multiple models, each designed for a specific set of hearing aid models. For a complete list of compatible models, please visit www.zpowerhearing.com. Explanation of Symbols Symbol # Explanation It is important to read the user manual. Indicates Model Number of the product. Indicates contents of the package. Points out situations that could lead to serious, moderate, or minor injuries or could damage your system. Advice and tips on how your device should be properly used and how to avoid damaging your system. With the CE symbol, ZPower confirms that this system and its individual components meet the requirements of the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU, & Battery Directive 2006/66/EC. The numbers after the CE symbol correspond to the code of certified institution that were consulted on the above mentioned directives. 4

This User Guide is Valid For: ZPower Rechargeable System including Battery Door Module (ZBDM-01) Charger (ZC-B01) & AC Adapter Silver-Zinc Rechargeable Batteries 1 How to Use Your System To get started, plug the power cord into the USB wall adapter and into a power outlet. When it s first plugged in, both charger lights will briefly turn green. Charging Your Hearing Aid 1. Place Your Hearing Aids on the Charger Lightly hold your hearing aids by the tube, and place them in the charging slot. Both domes should be facing the same side of the charger as the power cable, as shown in the picture. When your hearing aids are correctly placed, both lights will begin blinking green. 2. Wait 3-4 Hours When the green lights are blinking, your hearing aids are charging. When the lights stop blinking and turn solid green, your hearing aids are completely charged. 3. Remove, And Wear Your Hearing Aids You can remove your hearing aids before they re completely charged, but they won t last as long as when they re fully charged. It s best to leave your hearing aids in the charger anytime you re not using them, they won t overcharge. Please ensure to charge your hearing aids within the operating temperature range: 50-104 F (10-40 C). 7
2 Important Instructions This charger is intended to charge hearing instruments with the ZPower Rechargeable System. Use only with ZPower rechargeable batteries. This product does not have a power switch. It is turned on once you plug in the power cord. The USB Wall Adapter will conform to the requirement of your region for voltage input and connection type. Hearing Aids in Charger NOTICE This charger is intended only for indoor use. Do not expose your device to extreme temperature or high humidity. Do not leave it in direct sunlight. Do not immerse it in water. Do not place your device in a microwave oven. 8 Charger Battery Door Modules Battery Assembly for Modules USB Cable & Wall Adapter (Wall Adapter may or may not be provided)
The hearing care professional shall fit the rechargeable battery door module to appropriate model hearing aid. Attempting to install a battery door on an incompatible hearing aid may result in breaking into small and/or sharp pieces. Only install a battery door on compatible hearing aid models. For a list of compatible models, visit www.zpowerhearing.com. WARNING Choking hazard. Choking hazard posed by small parts. Keep hearing instruments, batteries and accessories out of the reach of children and pets. If any part of the system is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Tripping hazard. Keep long power cord out of walkway where it poses a tripping hazard. Magnetic field. Charger contains magnets and should be kept at least 6 inches (15 cm) away from pacemakers. Strangulation hazard. Contains a long power cord that may cause strangulation if used improperly. Risk of injury. Do not hold power cord and swing charger. Electric shock. Risk of electric shock through incompatible parts. Use the USB wall adapter provided with the charger. Fire and explosion hazard. Do not use in explosive or oxygen-enriched atmospheres. Ingestion hazard. If magnets are separated from charger, do not put in nose or mouth. Swallowed magnets can stick to intestines causing serious injury or death. Seek immediate medical attention if magnets are swallowed or inhaled. Overheating hazard. Use of an improper USB wall adapter may cause the charger to overheat. Use only EN60950 certified equipment with an output of 5 VDC, minimum 500 ma, such as the USB wall adapter provided with the charger. 9
WARNING Use the USB port of the charger for the described purpose only. Do not insert the wall adapter alone into electrical outlets. This could result in electric shock. Use only the equipment described in these instructions to charge your system. Using other equipment may result in damage to your system. Do not drop any part of the rechargeable system onto a hard surface, this may damage your system and could result in breaking into small and/or sharp pieces. 3 Maintenance Proper use will help to extend the life of your battery. Battery Tips Charge the batteries regularly before wearing them. Charge the batteries at temperatures between 50 F (10 C) and 104 F (40 C). Don t place the batteries in the charger if the charger is unplugged, this will drain the batteries. If you don t intend to use your hearing aids for several days, remove the batteries. Your battery should last for approximately one year, and can be easily replaced by your hearing professional at that time. 10
Cleaning Clean as needed. Use a dry, soft tissue to remove any debris. The soft brush that is included with hearing aids may be used to clean the contacts on the charger. Do not sterilize or disinfect the charger. Do not clean with rubbing alcohol, solvents or any other liquid. Your hearing aid and/or battery door may be damaged by hairspray or cosmetics. It is recommended to remove your hearing aids from your ear before applying these products. Always make sure that the hearing aids and charger are dry and clean before charging. Make sure the rechargeable batteries are inserted correctly. Use a dry, soft tissue to clean the contacts on the charger. The soft brush that is included with hearing aids may be used to clean the contacts on the charger. 11
4 Troubleshooting Charger Lights Problem Recommended Action No lights Hearing aid is not inserted into the charger correctly or the charger is not powered. Remove hearing aid(s) and replace in correct orientation. Verify USB cable is properly connected to USB wall adapter. Verify USB wall adapter is functional by plugging in another USB device. One or both lights solid red Battery won t charge. Verify hearing aid battery is a ZPower rechargeable battery. Both lights flashing red Temperature is out of range. Charging is paused until temperature is in range. Move charger to an environment between 50 F (10 C) and 104 F (40 C). Consult your hearing care professional if any problem persists. 12
