Overview Video Streaming allows you to create and publish video clips from any video footage and place them on your site, giving your users a complete multimedia experience. Once your video appliance is set up, you can encode video from multiple sources, such as a live feed or tape. You can manually encode video, using WorldNow s VideoScribe application, or use the Scheduler to set up the times you wish to encode in advance. Additionally, you can use VideoIngest to transcode digital files, such as MPEG1 and WMV. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 4 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

VideoScribe VideoScribe is software that captures and encodes your video from a feed through your router, a DVD or a Beta (depending on how you set up your video appliance). The video you stream can be encoded and uploaded for later use on your site or broadcast live. You will simply need to encode most videos, but VideoScribe allows you to initiate a live streaming event if it has been enabled. For information on how to have your site set up for live streaming, contact your WorldNow Client Services Manager. Streaming Options There are four encoding modes in VideoScribe to enable you to encode and live stream exactly what you want You can select one of the four streaming options: Inactive: You are not encoding video or broadcasting your live stream. Encoding: You are encoding video, but not broadcasting your live stream. The live button is disabled. Live Steaming: You are broadcasting a live stream but you are not encoding. Encoding and Live Steaming: You are encoding video and broadcasting your live stream. Getting Started Double-click on the VideoScribe icon on the WorldNow video appliance desktop to begin using VideoScribe. The box on the top-left corner of the application displays the feed coming into the video appliance. VideoScribe Interface VideoScribe contains four display areas: A. Controls: Includes the Show Headline and control buttons. B. Video Window: Shows video coming into the video appliance. C. Closed Caption Window: Include the track time Displays the closed captioning that is being captured while you are encoding, if it is part of the video source. D. Keyframe Window: The keyframes that are captured during your encoding session will be displayed in this area. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 5 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

VideoScribe Interface Controls VideoScribe Controls Show Headline The Show Headline will appear in the Producer in the list of Video Assets and is the primary attribute you will use when searching for the video. Before you start encoding, you can enter a Show Headline. If you do not enter a Show Headline, one will automatically populate the field and will display the date and time you manually began the encoding process (e.g., Friday, September 10, 2005 16:17:26). If you are encoding from your schedule, the Show Headline will come from the Show Headline you entered when creating the schedule, followed by the date (e.g., 6 AM Weekday News on September 01, 2005). Still: While you are encoding, you can click the Still button to capture additional keyframes. Start: Start will begin your encoding session. Save: Save will end your encoding session and the video appliance will start the process of sending the video and data files over the Internet. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 6 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Cancel: Cancel will end your encoding session without saving and sending the files. Use this option if you decide you do not want to encode the video. Live: Live allows you to initiate a live broadcast of your video. See Live Streaming for more details. Manual Encoding 1. Enter a Show Headline. If a headline is not entered, the system defaults to a Time/Date headline (e.g., Monday, September 19, 2005 16:17:26). 2. Click the Start button. While encoding, you ll notice the Track Time and Closed Captioning (if available) appears in the box to the right of the video. 3. Keyframes will be generated in the Keyframe window of VideoScribe. New Keyframes will appear when there is a scene change detected in the video, or every configured amount of seconds, whichever comes first. 4. Click the Still button to manually capture additional Keyframes as the video encodes. You will be able to use Keyframes on the site and video player, as well as download them for other desired uses. 5. Click the Save button to end the encoding process and save your video. Or, click the Cancel button any time during the process to stop encoding. When you click Cancel, your video will not be saved. 6. You can close the application once your video has been encoded and saved. If you use the Scheduler, you must have VideoScribe running at all times. Start Live Streaming VideoScribe also allows you to broadcast your video stream live. You will need to have Live Streaming enabled to access this functionality. Please contact your Client Services Manager for more information on what is necessary to set this up. This should all be done in advance of your first Live Streaming event. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 7 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

You can encode and live stream simultaneously or just live stream if you do not want to use the video on your site later. Live Live Streaming Only 1. Open VideoScribe, if it is not already open. 2. Click Live. It could take up to five minutes to initiate the live stream and have your live streaming URL active. You will receive your Live Streaming URL and code to launch the video player from WorldNow when you set up Live Streaming on your video appliance. 3. Test the live streaming URL. Once you can see your video by viewing it through your URL, set up your link so your users can access it. 4. Click Save to complete your encoding session (or click Cancel if you decide not to save the video captured). 5. Click the Live button again when you want to end the live streaming event. You will need to receive the URL and code from WorldNow to live stream. Live Streaming and Encode Simultaneously 1. Open VideoScribe, if it is not already open. 2. Click Live. It could take up to five minutes to initiate the live stream and have your live streaming URL active. You will receive your Live Streaming URL and code to launch the video player from WorldNow when you can set up Live Streaming on your video appliances. 3. Click Start. 4. Test the live streaming URL. Once you can see your video by viewing it through your URL, set up your link so your users can access it. 5. Click Save to complete your encoding session (or Cancel if you decide not to save the video captured). 6. Click the Live button again when you want to end the live streaming event. Scheduling Video You can create a schedule for when you would like to encode video through the WorldNow Scheduler. It allows you to preset when you would like to encode video in VideoScribe. You can schedule a single show to be encoded, or you can schedule a show to be encoded at the same time daily, weekly or on specific days. If you use the Scheduler you must have VideoScribe running at all times. If you close VideoScribe your scheduled video will not be encoded. The video appliance acts as a Web server/ftp server so if you set up the machine up appropriately, you can access the Scheduler through your browser from your local network (or from anywhere if the video appliance has a public IP address). Getting Started Open Internet Explorer. The scheduler should be the default homepage. If not, go to http://localhost/scheduler.asp Adding a Show 1. Enter a Show Headline. The Show Headline will appear in the Producer in the Encoded Video list and is the primary attribute you will use when searching for the video. 2. Select a Start Time of the day to begin encoding video (Hour, Minute, AM/PM). You may want to start the encoding session a few minutes before your video is scheduled to begin. The Scheduler uses the clock on the video appliance to reference time, which is set to your specific time zone. Therefore, the Start Time should be set to your local time zone. The live clock shown above the schedule can be used as a guide. 3. Choose the Duration (Hours, Minutes) of the show or video you wish to encode from the drop-downs. You may want to choose a duration longer than the actual length of the video. Also keep in mind if the Start Time is set to begin before the actual start time of the video you will need to add that time into your duration. 4. Select the day(s) of the week (Mon, Tue, etc.) you would like the video to be encoded. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 9 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

5. Select Repeat Weekly if you would like the video to be encoded on the same day(s) and time each week. Your video will be encoded at that time and day until you delete the schedule. 6. Select the Type of session you would like to schedule: o o o Encode Only: The video appliance will be scheduled only to encode the given show; the live stream will not be broadcast. Live Only: The video appliance will be scheduled to broadcast the live stream at the given time, but will not encode the video for use at a later time. Encode and Live: The video appliance will be scheduled to both encode and broadcast the live stream. You will need to have Live Streaming enabled to access the Live Only or Encode and Live functionality. Please contact your Client Services Manager for more information on what is necessary to set this up. This should all be done in advance of your first Live Streaming event. 7. Click Add to save your schedule. Your show will appear in the calendar below. 8. Click Cancel if you do not wish to save your settings. 9. You may enter multiple shows to the schedule by repeating steps one through seven. Scheduler Adding a Show Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 10 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Scheduler Editing or Deleting a Scheduled Show 1. Click on any of the Show Headlines within the schedule. The show s settings will appear in the edit window at the top of the Scheduler. 2. At which point you can edit and Update to make changes, Delete to remove the show completely, or Cancel if you decide not to make any changes. Edit or Delete a Show Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 11 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Aborting a Currently Recording Show 1. Click on the Show Headline for a currently recording show (will be highlighted and read Now Running:). The show s settings will appear at the top of the scheduler screen. 2. Click Abort. The show will be stopped, and removed from the schedule table. VideoIngest VideoIngest enables you to transcode and publish audio/video files to the Producer. You can manually feed files into VideoIngest through an application (e.g., a video editing application) via FTP or a shared folder to the VideoIngest folder. The Ingest Queue functionality is not supported for versions prior to Build 6.6. You need Build 6.6 or higher to access the Ingest Queue. Video Ingest Folders When a user uploads a video file, the user will drag a file into an ingest folder. The list below defines the task of each folder. Auto Clip Create: Automatically creates a clip from a video asset generated through video ingest. Clips created through this process can be assigned a status, image, display size, flag as a summary for a category and can be assigned to specific categories. Auto Syndication: Automatically syndicates a request after the ingested asset is created in the Producer. High Priority: Processes files at a higher priority than other ingest drop files PassThrough: Allows files that are in the correct output format to bypass the ingest process. Uploading Video 1. Click Upload Video from the video appliance Manage Page. 2. Drag and drop the file(s) into the folder with your site s name (e.g., WNOW). Once the files are placed into the folder, VideoIngest automatically runs and uploads the file(s) in the Producer. Upload Video All video encoded with VideoIngest will appear in the Producer with the following naming convention: VI: file_name.filetype (e.g., VI: 6am_news_fire_rescue_coverage.avi) Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 13 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Automatic Clip Creation Using Auto Clip Create, you can designate ingest folders for the workflow. When a file is ingested through the Auto Clip Create workflow, an Asset and a corresponding Clip are automatically created in the Producer. This reduces the steps required to make video content available. If desired, you can request content ingested into specific folders to be automatically assigned to one or more Categories. Additionally, the following features can be specified during Auto Clip Create. Sizing Please contact your Client Services Manager to configure the Automatic Clip Creation functionality. Automatic Clip Creation is supported on Build 6.8 or higher. If desired, you can select the sizing for the default keyframe assigned to the Clip. If no size is specified, Auto Clip Create uses the first key frame in the video as the default clip. Advertising Auto Clip Create allows for preroll ads to display in Clips. By default, no ads will display with the Clip unless it is assigned or if you manually open the Clip in the Producer and set it to live. Advertising is only available on Build 7.0 or higher. Metadata If desired, you can specify metadata for the source video for the Clip metadata fields. By default, if no metadata is specified, the name of the file is used as the Headline. If you wish to set a specific Headline and Summary for the Clip, you can do so by providing an xml document containing the metadata of the Asset. Clip Images If desired, you can provide thumbnail, abridged and/or abstract images for a Clip. If you don t provide images, the default initial keyframe in the video is used. To specify images for the Clip, you must provide image(s) using specific file naming conventions which allow ingest to recognize the images and assign them to the proper Clip. MXF Support MXF files are supported for ingest. Once MXF files have been ingested, the files are available in the WorldNow Producer. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 14 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Ingest Queue Ingest Queue allows you to view and control video files currently being processed by the appliance, as well as a history of video files the appliance has already processed. Using Ingest Queue, you can change the order files are processed, set a higher priority to pending files, set files to process later or delete files from the Queue. The Ingest Queue functionality is only available on Build 6.6 or higher. In order to perform an Ingest bypass, at least one WMV file needs to be dragged into the Bypass folder. For instance, you can upload a WMV and a FLV file together, or a WMV and H264 file, but you cannot upload only two FLV files. Ingest Queue Processing Video Files Running Files: Files currently being processed will display in the blue background. If desired, you may select Process Later from the Action drop-down menu to process a file later and move it further down the Queue. You can also remove files from the Queue and cancel the process by selecting Delete from the drop-down. Pending Files: Pending files display in the white background. Pending files will eventually process as other files are processed. If desired, you may process pending files by selecting Process Now from the Action drop-down to process the file immediately, or High Priority to assign the video to a higher priority. You may change the order and priority files by are processed by clicking the arrow icons to move video files higher or lower. To view information for a specific file, hold your mouse next to the appropriate file in the Ingest Queue screen. Video File Options: Process Now: Processes and transfers the video file immediately. The transfer takes precedence over all the other video files in the Ingest Queue. Only one file can be processed at a time. Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 15 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

High Priority: Assigns the video file a higher priority for processing. Process Later: Moves a file down the queue to process the file at a later time. Delete: Cancels the processing job. File Information To view the file size or file/job creation date, hold your mouse over the appropriate file on the Ingest Queue screen. View Information for Files Publisher Queue / Concurrent File Transfer The Publisher Queue allows you to view and control files being delivered. Like the Ingest Queue, the Publisher Queue allows you to reorder video files, set urgent video files to process immediately, etc. For detailed information on performing these tasks, see Processing Video Files in the Ingest Queue section. Accessing the Publisher Queue View Log File The Publisher Queue functionality is only available on Build 6.8 or higher. The Log File displays a log of video files which have been processed. View Log File Copyright 2000-2010 WorldNow 16 / 19 Confidential and Proprietary

Accessing the Producer Once video files are uploaded, they are automatically uploaded into the Producer. Through the Producer, you can create a new clip or view the asset information for the uploaded video file. To log into the Producer, select Producer from the top menu.
