My Lakeland Student Guide My Lakeland is your connection to your class schedule, your grades, your student account and your personal contact information. Known in technical terms as a student self-service or student portal, My Lakeland is a secure online service that allows you access to information as well as the ability to pay fees. You are provided with a user ID and password shortly before you begin your studies at Lakeland. We do have a help desk that you may email for assistance, but this help desk is only staffed during business hours when the college is open. This brief guide takes you through some of the common things you ll do on My Lakeland/ September 2015
Signing in from a desktop or laptop computer While the sign in page is responsive, you ll likely not want to use anything smaller than a tablet for accessing and using My Lakeland. The Lakeland College mobile app does have link to the sign in page. Use your web browser to go to the Lakeland College home page. http://www.lakelandcollege.ca Select the link to My Lakeland from the header. This header is at the top of every page on the main site When you click on My Lakeland or use www.lakelandcollege.ca/mylakeland you will arrive at the portal page. It has several parts: At the top of the page are announcements. These announcements are usually related to the academic schedule. Next on the left side is where you sign in. Just below the login is the help section. Before you go there, check out the FAQ and the Guide (what you re reading right now).
There s additional information on the right side of the page including the times My Lakeland is available. If My Lakeland is unavailable at any other time, you ll see a page that tells you when the student selfserve will be available again. Tip #1 Create quick access to My Lakeland by adding it to your browser tool bar, bookmarking it as a favorite or adding it to your homepages. Creating a password and a password hint The first time you sign in, you will change your password to something that will be easier for you to remember. You ll start at the Menu and choose Change My Password (right) You ll then be asked to enter your current password, and then create a new password. Passwords must have: At least 8 characters One special character for example:!@#$%^&*(<>?/.,) One Numeral
You should also create a password hint. This will help you if you happen to forget your password. In the example on the right, the question asks the name of the street where you grew up. There are a variety of these questions in the set up. Pick what works best for you. Tip #2 If you don t remember your password, click on the Forgot your password link. Changing Personal Information Open the Self Service folder and choose Campus Personal Information. From here, you are able to change your personal information, so Lakeland has all of your most up-to-date contact information. For example, the addresses page displays all the addresses on your record. Depending on the type of address for example, permanent and local you can add, update, or delete this information. By default, this section will have the personal information you provided when you applied and or registered at Lakeland.
The graphic above shows all the categories of personal information that you can update. Simply click on the edit button to make any changes. Then save your work. You ll get a message on the screen if your changes were successful Checking your schedule Tip #3 Look for green action boxes to add, edit, delete and save inside My Lakeland. My Lakeland is the only source for your class schedule. Once you have been enroled, your weekly schedule will be available by going to Enrolment, then My Weekly Schedule.
Making a payment My Lakeland is the express line for making tuition and other payments such as residence fees. It s a simple and secure. Start by choosing Campus Finances. You ll have 3 options: Make an account inquiry about what you might owe Make a payment Find and print your T2202A Tax Form When you choose make a payment you ll be able to see a list of what you owe and for what term. You have a number of options when you specify your payment, you can put in a specific number or you can pay everything.
Tip #4 T2202A tax receipts will be available before the end of February for the previous school year. Look for a message on My Lakeland that the T2202As are ready. Your receipts are stored in My Lakeland and can be accessed there. Once you choose to make a specific payment you will go to the Moneris payment page. You will be prompted to fill out credit card information including name (exactly as it appears on the card), card number and expiry date. Before you hit process transaction, make sure all the payment information is correct including the amount you want to pay. If the payment is successful, you will receive a payment result message that will include a reference number and a transaction number. You may save and print those for your records.
Checking marks My Lakeland is the only source for your final marks in a course. Start by choosing Enrollment in the Self Serve, followed by View My Grades. You can pick a specific term (semester). You can drill down to look at all of your courses, or at individual courses. The graphic at the right, shows the class number and description, how many credits it has (units), how you are graded, the grade itself as well as the grade points. After the official grades you can also see your term statistics listing: how many credits (unit) you took how many credit you passed how many credits are included in your grade point average (GPA) your GPA for the term your cumulative GPA if this is after your first semester
Tip #5 Set up favorites within My Lakeland so you can quickly go to the places you use most in the student self serve. It s easy to add a favorite, just click on Add to Favorites. Getting an unofficial transcript Official transcripts can be requested through the Registrar s Office. However, if you would like an unofficial transcript for whatever reason, you can print one from My Lakeland. Start by choosing Academic Records, then View Unofficial Transcript.
Tip #6 Creating the transcript can take a few minutes. Please don t press any other buttons or links while your request is processing. Tip #7 Request an official transcript by using the Request a Transcript form on the student forms page http://www.lakelandcollege.ca/campus-life/studentforms/ Tip # 8 If you need help with My Lakeland, contact the help desk via email at mylchelp@lakelandcollege.ca, or use the form under the login space.
