Installation Process The installation guide contains the following sections: System Requirements Installing dotdefender System Requirements dotdefender operation requires the following: Web Server: IIS 6.0, IIS 7.0 Platform: Microsoft Windows 2003, Microsoft Windows 2008 Windows 2008 Requirements The following role services should be installed (In addition to the default role services installed with IIS): APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT: ISAPI Extensions ISAPI Filters SECURITY: Windows Authentication MANAGEMENT TOOLS: IIS6 Metabase Compatibility Note: When selecting the parameters instructed in the steps below, leave other default definitions. 1. Select Start > Server Manager to open the Server Manager window. 2. Select Roles in the left pane. 3. Select Add Roles. 4. Select Web Server IIS. The Add Roles Wizard appears. 5. Click the Add Required Features button (default).
6. Click, Next, Next. 7. In the Select Role Services window select Role Services in the left panel. 8. Under Application Development in the right pane, select: ISAPI Extensions ISAPI Filters 9. Under Security select Windows Authentication. 10. Under Management Tools > IIS6 Management Compatibility, select IIS6 Metabase Compatibility. 11. Click Next, then click Install. After installation, the Installation Results window appears with a message informing you that the Installation has succeeded. This installs the Role Services for IIS. Installing dotdefender Note: The IIS web server will be automatically restarted during the installation process. 1. Select the version you plan to install. 2. You will be prompted to Save or Run the dotdefender installation. Click Save. 3. The file will begin downloading. 4. Double-click the exe file. The InstallShield Wizard begins and the Welcome window appears.
5. Click Next to continue. 6. A message appears warning you that the IIS web server will be automatically restarted during the installation. Click Yes to continue.
7. Requirements screen - the Help button will supply additional information in case the server does not meet the requirements. 8. The License Agreement window appears.
9. Read the license and select I accept the terms of the license agreement. 10. Click Next. 11. The Destination Location window appears. 12. Use the default Destination Location or click Change to browse and select the directory in which you want to install the dotdefender files. 13. Click Next. 14. The Installation window appears.
15. Click Install to begin installation. 16. dotdefender Administrative Interface- Select the authorization group to control dotdefender.
17. License mode: In this step, you will select the dotdefender Operating Mode: Monitoring only mode or Protection mode. Please note: in order to use the free, fully functional 30-day trial version, a license is required. The following options will appear: I want to use dotdefender for Monitoring only - Continue the installation without a license, Monitoring only. I want a 30 day protection evaluation license - A license will be sent to your email after filling out a form. I already have a license If you already have a license, you will be prompted to import your license file. 18. Click Next. Note: Your websites are not protected until you install the license! Selecting I want a 30 day protection evaluation license Complete the form and a license will be sent to your email.
Click Next. Selecting I already have a license Click Browse to import the license file Click Continue
19. When the InstallShield Wizard completes, click Finish.
dotdefender is automatically launched and becomes active every time the web server starts. The Welcome to dotdefender window appears. You can choose to display this window at each startup by leaving the tick mark at Show this dialog at startup. If you do not wish to see this window at every startup, remove the tick mark by clicking it. Click Close. The dotdefender icon appears on the task bar each time you start your web server. Right-click the icon and select Open dotdefender. The dotdefender administration console appears.
If a license has not been installed in the dotdefender installation process, Click License. Click Import License File. The Select License File window appears. Browse to and select the license file (license.txt), and click Open. The License Information appears.
Click to apply the changes. The installation is complete. Note: Every time you use the Trial Mode, the number of days remaining for your trial period appears in dotdefender.
