How to Use Administrator Username and Password Your administrator login credentials are the username and password you created when you registered for. Adding A New User Usernames and passwords become important when protecting children of different ages. McAfee Family Protection allows you to create multiple users and apply different settings to each user. To prevent tampering, all settings are stored on our secure servers. To add a user, click the Add a New User button on the first page of the Family Summary section. Once on the second page, fill in the Username, Password and Confirm Password fields. The username you create must be a unique email address. When finished, click Add User. Edit User Change a User s Password Click on the user s name and select Change Password from the menu. When the Update User Password window opens, type in the new password and confirmation and click Update when finished. Change Administrative Password includes several places in which your administrator password is required. Your administrator password is critical to. The administrator will use the administrator password to change the settings of each account and a separate user password for accessing the Internet. With just one administrator, it s important that the administrator keep passwords handy. It s also a good idea for an administrator to share their password with a spouse or selected friend. To change your administrative password, you will need to contact technical support because your username is linked to your McAfee account information. Forgotten Passwords If you forget your password, there is a security protocol that includes calling McAfee technical support and answering your account security question. Note: Our staff are trained to identify children trying to access a parent s password. 3

Remove a User Click on the user s name and select Delete User Account from the menu. When the Delete User window opens, this is your final chance to back out of this process. Otherwise, click Delete User to complete the removal. Once you delete the username, the login information associated with it will no longer be valid, and all settings relating to this username will be deleted. Uninstalling When removing, you will be asked for your administrator username and password, which will be verified by our servers. You may need an uninstall code if you cannot connect to the Internet during the uninstall process. In this case, you will need your administrator username and password and separate uninstall code. This high level of security is in place to keep unauthorized users from uninstalling the software. The code is similar to a pin number and can be obtained from the Family Summary page by clicking the Get Uninstall Code button. Uninstall codes change every day and are unique to your username. On the next page, you will see your code in the middle of the page. Click Done to return. If you lose your administrator password or code, you will have to go through a security protocol by calling Technical Support and answering your account security question. 4

Websites Web Blocking provides three ways for you to manage access to websites: by category, by defining a custom site list, and by safe search. Category Based Blocking Under the Limit Websites By Category heading, click on Change Blocked Categories. Next, check the category box(es) that you would like blocked. (For a description of each category, click on the category name and look at the bottom of the window/panel.) Once you have finished your selections, click Save Categories and you will return to the Websites screen. If you do not want to save changes, simply click the X to return to the Websites screen. Custom Site Lists enables you to create your own lists of allowed or blocked sites simply by entering URLs where prompted: 5

Blocking a Website To block a specific site, click Change Blocked Sites, type the URL into the box under Block a Website, and then click Add. Check Block this website for all users to apply these settings to all users on your account. You will see the site in your list of blocked websites. Allowing a Website To allow a specific site, click Change Allowed Sites, type the URL into the box under Allow a New Site, and then click Add. Check Allow this site for all users to apply these settings to all users on your account. When finished, click the X in the upper right corner to return to the Websites screen. Removing Websites Simply highlight the URL that appears in either the Blocked or Allowed websites box and click Remove Selected. To remove multiple sites at the same time, hold down the CTRL key and click on as many site names as you would like to remove from the list. 6

Enable Safe Search Check this box if you would like to prevent inappropriate content from showing up on searches a user conducts on popular search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo! (These search engines typically include a Safe Search option that you can set for this purpose, but in most cases any user can easily turn it off without a password or by using a separate browser. MFP will enforce the Safe Search so that it can not be turned off.) Websites in Activity Reports Websites and pages visited will appear in your Activity Reports with key details including the number of blocked sites, number of allowed sites, user activity period (when sites were visited), searches made and top sites visited. 7

Videos Video Control With so much television and movie content now available online, secure filtering and monitoring of TV and movies is essential. gives you the ability to control the videos and Internet TV your children can access. Choose Internet TV Rating Set the appropriate content rating for each user by selecting from one of these content options: TV-G and G-rated movies, TV-PG and PG-rated movies, PG-14 and PG-13 rated movies, and TV-MA and R rated movies. When you click on one of these five options, all content above the level selected will be blocked. This blocking will only occur on major US network websites (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, as well as Hulu.com, Clicker.com and a few others). Limit YouTube Videos With, the administrator is able to allow or block content on YouTube, which is the most prevalent source of online videos. This option applies both to videos that appear directly on YouTube.com and to YouTube videos embedded on other Web pages (such as Facebook). Allow All YouTube Videos Selecting this option will give the user complete access to all YouTube material, both on the site and on other sites where it might be embedded. Block YouTube Videos with Inappropriate Content Clicking on this option will prevent users from accessing YouTube content that is considered inappropriate based on filtering capabilities. Block All YouTube Videos Choosing this option will block the selected user from accessing all YouTube content, whether it resides on YouTube.com or is embedded within another Web page.
